Are keyboard hotkeys broken in Arcade cores? (Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, etc.)

The standard keyboard hotkeys for coin, p1/p2 start etc. don't seem to be working right now, at least in Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.
This is with the latest releases of these cores, using the hotkeys listed in their respective Github readme files.

Maybe try switching keyboard input mode with unlock.

Tried playing with NumLock/ScrollLock modes, but still can't get it to work for Pac-Man or Donkey Kong. Tried some other arcade cores and hotkeys seem to be working ok in those.
