Re: Demoscene on MiSTer

Have anyone tried PSX demos? I did a little effort, trying to run some random demos. Most of them do not run at all, probably because of wrong image format (just show BIOS instead). Off the top of my head, at least Dekadence's Mad Situations (2023) and Desire's RUN CRASH! (2021) and Paradox & Threepixels' Deadline Caught Me (2001) all run fine...

Fabien Sanglard's The Book of CP-System

While not strictly related to MiSTer (except through Jotego's excellent core), many might find Fabien Sanglard's (of Game Engine Black Book: DOOM fame) new book (and SDK) on the CPS-1 interesting. I know I certainly do! If you want to learn about the hardware powering titles such as Street Fighter II, Ghouls’n Ghosts, or Final Fight, then "The...

There seem to be no download links attached to the artifacts.
You have to be logged into github
Then so must the end-user running this script, and that wont work.
You could require the user to supply a personal access token in an .ini file, but I suppose that would leave less tech-savvy users high and dry.

The test build artefacts are already available on GH, could your script use them?

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

Alternately, if anyone has any pointers on how to build the Main core in Docker (Rætro Archives' toolchain seems to be both out-of-date and broken ), I'm all ears. (As I said, I'm impatient, but I'm willing to put some effort into maintaining my own fork while we wait the change to land in Main.) At the risk of derailing the thread, I'll just add ...

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

I forgot to add that you first have to setup the device in the main core. Mine is setup beforehand so that the small white button acts as F12 (bring up the OSD) and all the other ones have some function as well. Maybe there's a conflict between your basic configuration and the Arkanoid (W) specific I posted above. I'd like to check, but I've rever...

Re: Taito Egret II Mini Rollerball/Spinner Controller

Did y'all try @ theypsilon 's framework test build with Arkanoid? It works flawlessly! Hey @lamarax, I just got my controller in today, and I'm trying to make it work using the set of files you provided. However, I'm having trouble getting the Arkanoid (W) core (MiSTer v220619, A.ARKANOID v220521) to register any inputs. I've copied both the main ...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I made an update script for the PSX nightlies about 7 months ago, and it did pretty well in retrospect. I did not find one for the Saturn and I can easily adapt it "if" there is any interest. With the PSX core released and all, I could pivot my attention to the Saturn. FWIW, I found your PSX script supremely useful, thanks! Pivoting to t...

Amazing work, srg320! I hope you're safe and well.

If you're reading this, is there any chance of making nightly builds of the core available at some point?

While it's not the real thing, I can confirm that this TGM ZN-2 to PSX conversion runs fine on the PSX beta core.

Re: Done and Dusted demo by Genesis Project playback issue

No matter what if I'm running it from a floppy disk or hard drive, the demo stops working at 1:19 of this Youtube. Instead of the spinning Christmas tree effect and the border images on the left and right, I get a blank blue screen while the music plays. Then it crashes on the reindeer effect with distorted colors. For what it's worth, the demo ru...

Re: Getting MT-32 music to work on Frederik Pohl's Gateway with a mt32-pi HAT

TLDR, Gateway doesn't play nice if the MT-32 isn't connected to a real Roland MPU-401 MIDI interface. Thanks. The ao486 README says that the MIDI port supports both "dumb and fake-smart modes", but I guess the core's fake-smart mode isn't compatible enough for Gateway's MT-32 implementation. It'd be great if a hack could be added for Gat...

Getting MT-32 music to work on Frederik Pohl's Gateway with a mt32-pi HAT

Hi, As the subject says, I'm trying to get the MT-32 music going on Frederik Pohl's Gateway (from Archive.org ) with a mt32-pi HAT (via the user port). The ao486 README states that the MIDI interface can be found at 330h and IRQ 9, while MANUAL.TXT included with the game says: BLASTER Causes music and RealSound sound effects to be played through a ...

Re: CPS2 1080p 5x vertical crop

No. Reason is that in many games vital info like energy bar etc, is displayed near the very edge so if vertical cropping is used this gets cut off. FWIW, the CPS2 digital AV interface board for real hardware also offers a 5x mode (in previous firmware versions it was the only one available), and combined with the ability to vertically shift the im...
