Re: A second PS1 core coming

The thread is somewhat confusing. See these 2 posts: !!! IMPORTANT !!! This is using the SAME HARDWARE as MiSTer but using a different framework. So it is compatible with any MiSTer hardware but not using the feature of MiSTer framework. Sorry for the ambiguity. _____________________________________...

Re: Space Invaders with Samples

Does the mra with samples and background use more than 32MB SDRAM? I have no problem with the version without sample but with the version with samples I can only add coins, after that all other buttons are ineffective. These 2 versions use the same config files and no one complained about the versio...

Re: Compatibility List

I have a real hard time running anything besides exe files. I downloaded and compiled the latest core, the readme states CDs must be single track and EU region. Real ISOs are nowhere to be seen, they always end up in BIN/CUE format and are multi track. Bushido Blade is supposed to work and I have a ...

Re: Downloader script re-adds Mame folder

It is difficult to know what is going on: There seems to be a problem with the hub but some people are using USB drives without problem. There seems to be a problem with some hard disks and using a different one fixes the problem. Here I use a decades old powered generic non OTG hub with an OTG cabl...

Have a look at this thread and see if it can help:

There is also another one but it seems related to AO486 and I must say that I do not understand it and the solution provided:

Re: Downloader script re-adds Mame folder

So it is not a power supply problem. Your problem is very strange. I have been using a USB drive for several years and it always comes up as usb0. It is also a HDD. What kind of hub do you use? Is it a powered one? Is there an inline switch on your power supply? When it comes up as usb1 does doing a...

Re: PlayStation MiSTer Core Repository Created

Every FPGA noob get bitten by this. Although I played before with Quartus 13 and the little FPGA board for the multicomp core from Grant Searles site the first time I tried to compile an existing MISTer core I downloaded the latest version of Quartus. The latest the better? Not when compiling MISTer...

Re: Downloader script re-adds Mame folder

Regarding the bunch of stuff downloaded it is because the update all script uses the new downloader.sh, you can change it to use the old update.sh in the menu. There is also an alternative script when using USB: usb0 ZIP: For people using USB as primary storage. You will be able to run this script f...

Re: PlayStation MiSTer Core Repository Created

I understand the reason why he said that: the person who asked how to compile the core just wants to compile the core and to compile any MISTer core you have to use 17.x as later versions of Quartus will necessitate changes in the source code of the core. It could be confusing for this person if he ...

Re: PlayStation MiSTer Core Repository Created

Do you really have to uninstall a version later than 17.x if you want to install 17.x?
On my system I have both 13.0 sp1 and 17.2, no problem at all.

Re: Homebrew games for Playstation core

Thanks to wark91 and tonton. Way more exciting than admiring endlessly the Sony startup screen. I made a quick test during lunch break and everything is working. I was surprised by how small is the Minic screen and so far I did not see any ring, I will try to see some later today. Most of my thanks ...

Re: Homebrew games for Playstation core

Thanks. One week ago or so I built the core to have a look at the menu and noticed games could be loaded in exe format which I had no idea what it was and still don't know. I also create the games subdirectory and placed the BIOS in it. I went as far as booting the core and displaying the startup sc...

Update scripts mame and hbmame getters have no love for symlinks

On my system almost every directory is on a USB drive and I have symlinks on the SD card which point to these directories. For example I have: /media/fat/_Arcade -> /media/usb0/_Arcade /media/fat/games -> /media/usb0/games This is what I get when running the mame getter script without ini file: Find...

Re: A real PC XT Core perhaps ?

The Next186 is not an XT:
https://opencores.org/projects/next186_soc_pc
As the core is not huge there is space left for a FPU (which does not exist at this time).

Re: Downloader script re-adds Mame folder

I read your previous posts and I had no doubt it was a copy/paste problem. The funny part is that just a few days ago I was also afflicted by the copy/paste syndrome on almost the same subject. I posted the following: ROMMAME=/media/usb0/games/mame ROMHBMAME=/media/usb0/games/mame  Now I wonder...
