Re: SyncThing

You run syncthing on the mister itself? if so which arm binary did you use and how did you configure it since it seems to want to use a web addr on localhost .. kinda curious how you configured it ..I am also interested in doing an rsync sorta thing just for config files and such (no roms or hard disk/floppy images) .. would be very interested if ...

Re: SyncThing

I typically start syncthing under a script custom as needed. I find it can affect performance of the linux side of things and strange things can happen. I also don't use it to sync roms as it can take hours just to scan everything to look for changes let alone transfer them. Roms don't change very often and I typically use FreeFileSync to sync the ...

Re: Ok let's talk seriously about a MiSTer handheld...

Things are moving but slow. I have been busy at work and do a couple PCBs a month so I really don't feel too motivated to do it at home, I would rather be playing games. Money is not an issue so a patreon is not needed. I have the start of a schematic with basic battery management circuit, a DE-10 Nano footprint utilizing all connectors, and a star...

Re: Atari VCS Classic Stick Spinner Support

My VCS Classic Stick arrived today. I couldn't get the spinner to work at all, neither in the 2600 core nor in the Arkanoid core. Tried both modes. Tried wired and wireless. I can map all the buttons but I can't map the spinner. Should I need to? In the 2600 core, pressing the paddle button makes the base jump to the left side, but it is not contr...

Re: MiSTer Distribution Repository

I assume this is where the new updater script is going to pull it's updates. Since it is under version control perhaps you can add the ability in the script to pull an older release at a specific date. This will help users in troubleshooting wither it is a buggy update or their specific setup that is causing their issue. It would also allow someone...

Re: C64 modem connection speed is buffer-lagging

If it's over the network interface it almost sounds like a Nagle's algorithm issue. Long strings are sent quickly as the packet buffer is filled and sent right away but if it is only few bytes it will wait a timeout before sending trying to maximize the data in the packet. It may need to be disabled for the socket on the linux side.

Re: Ok let's talk seriously about a MiSTer handheld...

I thought I would post an update... I have been experimenting with different ideas trying to come up with a good options to build a mister handheld. The biggest issue with making a handheld is the display. I haven't found an ideal display but I have found a couple good ones. I currently have two proof of concept handhelds to try out ideas. I have n...

Re: Ok let's talk seriously about a MiSTer handheld...

Your endeavours are admirable, but with the existence of a ton of now very good Chinese handhelds running android emulators then I have to ask - whats the point? Can you really tell the difference between emulation on the 8/16bit machines and Mister on a small lcd screen? Even ps1 emulation is pretty good on these things, a system Mister cant yet ...

Re: MiSTer Multisystem - All-in-One System

It is looking like a nice design. I like the idea of adding a polyfuse. I don't know how finalized the design is but I have a few ideas/Suggestions. Add some ESD protection (TVS, MOVs, etc...) to the analog and usb ports. CRTs are very prone to static discharge so any added protection will help keep the DE-10 nano and usb hub safe. Have one or two ...

Re: Atari VCS Classic Stick Spinner Support

The spinner on the VCS classic controller has been working fine for me on the 2600 core. I have been playing Breakout, Warlords , and Night Driver. You may need to map the paddle button and use this button which causes the core to switch to paddle/spinner mode.

Re: HDMI CEC and the MiSTer.

Is CEC even wired up on the DE-10 nano? The schematics show the zero ohm series resistor on CEC as DNI and it isn't stuffed on my DE-10 nano. The only thing it shows it being wired two is U34 which is for ESD suppression.

Re: Ok let's talk seriously about a MiSTer handheld...

A vendor stopped by work and dropped off a few displays for me to try out... It's a bit overkill and I haven't measured the display lag of the provided hdmi to mipi board but here are some pics of MiSTer with the 1440x1600 display.

Re: Ok let's talk seriously about a MiSTer handheld...

You would probably need to create an all-integrated PCB with RAM and I/O in order to fit a case as flatly as possible. It could even have integrated LCD instead of VGA output. The HDMI output could be a pass-through to the external case, and allow enough space to plug the DC power jack on the DE10. I have a short "CEC removal" dongle tha...

Re: Ok let's talk seriously about a MiSTer handheld...

ETA Prime on YT did a video on the Wavshare AMOLED and he had terrible luck with it; getting tonnes of screen tearing, albeit with a Raspberry Pi which suffers terribly with screen tearing regularly. The display I have been playing with is the Version 2 of the amoled display which I originally bought it for another project. I have it working with ...

Ok let's talk seriously about a MiSTer handheld...

I have been mulling over the idea of doing quality mister handheld for a while now. I have see a couple of designs pop up but nothing that is easily accessible to the community. I have done couple different mister handhelds so far with off the shelf parts and a 3d printed case but so far I haven't been completely satisfied with the outcome. This is...

Re: In-line power switch

Low voltage should not damage your mister. What it will most likely do is make things unreliable and reset. Most of the devices run at 3.3V or lower. The design uses a buck regulator to drop 5V input to 3.3v. Regulators usually need a little headroom so it will probably need an input voltage 0.5-1.5V over the 3.3V to regulate properly. What will mo...

Re: In-line power switch

On my mister I use a 5V meanwell power supply: https://www.amazon.com/MEAN-WELL-GST25A05-P1J-Desktop-Adaptor/dp/B01D0Z8PLW Then I have a power switch on the AC power cord. It is similar to this one but not an extension/adapter: https://www.amazon.com/outstanding-Power-Extension-Cable-Switch/dp/B08NP3L9KB This eliminates needing to switch the 5V.
