Re: SNAC Not Working [Solved]

There is a composite port (for composite sync) on the SNAC adapter for you to plug in your GunCon unless I'm missing something?

Re: screen adjustment for CRT monitor - how do I adjust vertical height?

Back in the CRT-era we'd use CRT adjustment tools, they are plastic and non-conductive (be careful about poking conductive screwdrivers into appliances with mains/high voltage).

I did see someone has made a 3D model available to print.

Re: Is forcing a ROM region the same as native region?

It is a big ol' can of worms and honestly I think to save headaches it is just easier to go with NTSC ROMs where they are not region-specific releases. I am horribly oversimplifying the issue but: Some ROMs (pretty common on Master System and early Mega Drive) released worldwide and the version released in PAL territories just ran 16.66~% slower fo...

Re: PSone / MiSTer hybrid console from Taki Udon

Yep. It just spins the disc initially to identify it and then loads the image from local storage, same as Zaparoo. Taki has said there are no plans to fork the cores and as far as we know SuperStation is the guts of a DE10-Nano reimplemented on a single board with an injection moulded case and ports for PS1 peripherals over SNAC.

Re: PSone / MiSTer hybrid console from Taki Udon

Is there any information out there how the SuperDock is going to work? I thought MiSTer isn't supporting USB CD/DVD drives... USB CD/DVD drives work just fine but the cores need lower-level access to read the games directly, something that is not possible with the DE10-Nano and USB drives. Instead, this dock is effectively dumping your games to on...

Re: Has There Been a Solution to MiSTer Not Auto Saving Game Data?

Personally I've always found it to be a non-issue; just enable auto-save on each core and just get into the habit of using the OSD when you're changing games/cores or powering down.

That said, I'm sure I read Zaparoo were working on triggering saves when NFC cards were removed. It might even be implemented already.

Re: Ready solutions to use Floppy, CD or DVD drives?

In most cases anything USB is not low-level enough to interface directly with the cores, they usually require very tight timings to function properly. It has already been suggested before that you could jury-rig some USB devices and through abstractions/scripts at the linux-level use those to dump/launch games. I think there has been limited succes...

It doesn't sound like you are very familiar with the project or how the scaler and filter system works. Please read the docs thoroughly ; specifically the section on Video Configuration . VRR, BFI, HDR are all things that are already supported but rely heavily on the capabilities of the display. As with a lot of things MiSTer, most of this is done ...

Re: DualRam and analog output

Limited GPIO pins on the DE10-Nano. If you are using the second GPIO headers for SDRAM you can't use the analog IO board. It's an addon board for analog IO boards to output 24-bit video via the VGA port using a DAC. 24-bit DAC is for analog video output only. The digital IO boards do not have analog video out. HDMI isn't affected. You can still us...

I think from 2012, CAVE moved on from the 68000 and CV1000 based hardware and everything since was released on generic x86/64 boards. This obviously wouldn't be feasible on MiSTer and CV1000 has already been ruled out due to the SH-3 and custom GPU. CV1000 games: Mushihimesama Puzzle! DIP switches will not help with USB/WiFi.

I don't recognise the WiFi dongle but it looks like a generic chipset that should work. Maybe run through the steps here.

Which power supply are you using?

Re: Taki's Handheld MiSTer Device

Details are very scarce, everything released publicly is on Taki's X account.

What we know right now:

  • It is codenamed the "Super R2"

  • It will probably have a 4:3 AMOLED screen

  • No concrete release schedule

  • Two "teaser" images have been released, presumably WIP CAD files

Yeah I'm also confused why you aren't using the JAMMA edge on the expander board.

If the image quality from the JAMMA edge is poor this board is entirely redundant? You may need to change your DIP switch settings for analogue audio?

Re: Play From Original Medium?

This has been discussed ad nauseam. The short answer is no; there are not enough GPIO pins to access carts and CD/floppy systems typically need very low-level access to the drives to function correctly. The are some outliers like ADC input for tape decks, work on getting C64 1541 drives working over SNAC and Amiga floppy drives but otherwise no, it...

FM Towns is interesting but is pretty niche, the X68000 core still has a ways to go too. Whilst I'm sure a lot of people here would love FM Towns and Towns Marty it's a massive unde...

I am not familiar with the game on PlayStation but quite often these 'glitches' in the areas of overscan are quite normal, you'll see them in HDMI output as by default the core doesn't crop the overscan area (from memory you can change the screen crop in the OSD). Looking at captures of the game on YouTube from supposed real hardware this appears t...

I'll let the other thread you started wrap this up. Probably for the best, you already made me waste a week and $25 on a power supply that I didn't need when it should have been obvious it wasn't an issue with the power supply, since you only need that for multiple peripherals and hard drives. It's okay to not know the solution to every problem. I...
