Re: PlayStation MiSTer Core Repository Created
im glad to see such quick progress with this core, but if the dual SDRAM is needed, this will hinder several peoples setups who use SNAC, active cooling, VGA for other cores, dual SD cards, and the user buttons kind of puts the playstation into a standalone MiSTer setup at that point, or having to purchase a separate MiSTer specifically for the pla...

Re: Problem with new MiSTer
is it still giving you a black screen.. if so.. have you got an on/off switch on your power cable. try powering it without the switch adapter this was my first assumption as well, a faulty power supply i had a similar issue where if i cold booted (no power, then started the MiSTer by plugging in AC adapter) the MiSTer would boot fine but if i did ...

Re: Problem with new MiSTer
aww, sorry to hear about that man
i would at least, as a last ditch effort, attempt to re-connect everything on the MiSTer, make sure everything is connected well/securely,
and try a different power supply
(selling it will be quite quick)

Re: Super Mario World intro chime/screen & Link To The Past intro chime/screen errors
yes, that makes sense, and is what i had discovered as well. some HDTVs respond quicker to resolution/refresh changes, and others take a couple seconds to change which lead me to ask if a custom core option could be implemented, where we could set a certain amount of seconds to wait to load the ROM, so that the resolution and 60.08hz signal can upd...

Re: MiSTer Vs Original Nintendo Battletoads Clinger-Winger The Ultimate Lag Test
yes, that is a great real world example of how well FPGA gaming matches original hardware, regarding input lag. kind of drives home the point that FPGA gaming is as close as you can get to the real thing (and IMO, more versatile and subjectively better) heres a reddit post that compares shinobi running on original hardware and compares it to some c...

glad to see more rally fans. living in the states, rally racing and rally games are kind of rare (where they seem to be commonplace overseas). im a big fan of RBR with mods & dirt rally 2 :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO-syKdRSV8 ----------- as far as retro-esque games, i would probably recommend the ones that are already popular shovel kn...

Re: How worth it is MiSTer on a modern TV?
you are on a MiSTer message board, so our opinions will be biased, but as someone who has personally used basically every single kind of emulator from ~2001 and up, various emulation handhelds, softmods for PSP/3DS, and retropie; once i got a MiSTer, it formed a new "standard" for hardware emulation which is 2nd only to original hardware....

Re: Super Mario World intro chime/screen & Link To The Past intro chime/screen errors
hmm, thats kind of what i was thinking too. probably a display issue at this point oh well, it is just that first brief intro piece of the boot sequence, and it is a minor issue. the screen/core works fine past that point in low lag. i was hoping there could be a custom core setting to allow for an additional second or two after loading a ROM, wher...

Re: Super Mario World intro chime/screen & Link To The Past intro chime/screen errors
Do you use a soundbar? I see audio delays (not with MISTER specifically) where if there is no audio (which there isnt on mister menu) the moment audio starts it kinda "wakes up" the soundbar. So you will miss a tiny bit. no, no soundbar with my setup. its hdmi in to the TV, and digital out to an amp/speakers sounds like a issue local to ...

i posted this on the issues page of github, but wanted to ask here as well ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i have noticed, for quite a while, the intro chime in both super mario world and link to the past sometimes doesnt play. or, the chime will play, but the intro image/screen is still blan...

F***yeah!
guwange was the first cave game i played back when MAME was first starting out, and they got the 1st gen cave titles to run.
the game blew me away with its bullet hell gameplay and weird bosses.
absolutely was not expecting it to be that good!

Re: Daemonbite adapter problem in 2 player mode
was going to say the same as paco.
i would just use 2 separate adapters, as running 2 controllers of one board does add a tiny amount of input lag (~2ms as suggested by porkchopexpress)
2 separate adapters is also how i run my bartop with 2 arcade sticks

BOOOM
MiSTer community to the rescue!
my next questions is, can this fix be applied to other cores?
seems like some folks would appreciate this, if this tearing with vsync_adjust=0 is a widespread issue

Re: SNAC and you
i agree, SNAC is kind of bulky and unwieldy. something more streamlined and ready to plug in an OEM controller would be nice (like a blissbox). my current setup has a SNAC adapter directly attached to the IO board > USB3 extension cable > bracket/fixed spot on my case. and then each OEM controller is pre-connected to its accompanying SNAC adapter t...

interesting results here, paulbnl & jlancaster! these refresh/sync issues seem to be common to these samsung 4K TVs and the MiSTer. i can say, i was noticing very similar things to what lancaster is describing, but after switching to a computer monitor, those bottom screen "catching up" weird artifacts have gone away (with vsync_adjus...

Re: Screen tearing after playing Zelda LTTP for multiple hours.
i know theres a wall of text to read above, but i have basically the same TV as original poster, Q70r, and would notice odd tearing/artifacts/issues as well. this was remedied by switching to a dedicated computer monitor (Acer Nitro XF243Y Pbmiiprx) instead of a consumer HDTV. and yes, i play specifically SNES for extended periods of time (mostly s...

i was also a fan, or at least knew about them, since the early 2000s and have been casually following their work ever since.
their contributions to the retro emulation scene will solidify their history as a legend, and i truly hope they are at peace now

Re: SNAC issue with NES core
to add to the confusion and point again to the SNAC firmware needing an update -
my same SNES controller that doesnt work via SNAC on the MiSTer, works just fine with a daemonbite adapter on the MiSTer.
so, yeaahh, not sure whats going on with the MiSTer and SNAC. some OEM controllers work and others dont.

i had a similar issue with a SNES controller. i still have my 2 original SNES controllers from my first SNES console, and only one of the controllers works with the MiSTer via SNAC. i tried everything you could think of, https://misterfpga.org/viewtopic.php?t=2114, but ultimately just bought a SFC controller off ebay, and it works fine with the MiS...
