Re: Dell G2723H Gaming Monitor and .ini Settings?

well that sucks about the monitor, but you tried to make it work. i can say, when im thinking about buying a TV or gaming monitor, i will always do a deep dive on rtings.com. and if they dont have a review about the TV/monitor i wont get it. they do all the testing for me, report the issues and give a detailed breakdown of their tested specs. it ca...

Re: MiSTer NFC Project by Wizzo Covered by The Verge

the tapto project is a very appreciated addition to the MiSTer and its catalog of accessories. having a way to load games from an NFC tag opens up a lot of possibilities for cartridge reading and/or NFC cards. mind you, the menu system for loading games isnt complicated, but being able to turn on the MiSTer and have something physical to load a ROM...

really impressed with the TapTo project. it provides a way to have a physical library of sorts and give a tactile response when loading a game

this is the next step in getting the MiSTer to a place of plug-and-play for family and friends. im ordering a setup very soon!

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

What would be the best option for someone who has their mister way too far away from their router to do a wired connection? Is there a way to go directly from my laptop to the mister with an ethernet cable? or would buying a switch/router to plug my mister and pc into to connect them together be a good option? thanks i would look into getting a po...

Re: Display Problems via HDMI

first i would do a hard reboot (power off and then power on) on your MiSTer

and if that doesnt work, try re-seating your RAM (take it out, and then put it back in the socket)

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

i do see your point about just using a PC for the arcades and consoles the MiSTer cant/wont run. however, my PC and MiSTer are in different parts of my home and have different uses. the MiSTer is used for playing video games and is in a different part of my house, separate from my work area with my PC but to your other points, i would be using the ...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

yes, i understand what im asking to do seems a little redundant and odd but my use case is a MiSTer in an arcade cabinet style build with a computer monitor, and the HDMI cable that is in place is fixed in a way to allow the screen to freely rotate 90 and -90 degrees. this would be an extra bit of fuss to run another HDMI cable to this setup and th...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

But it's not for ANY screen, it's for CRT owners. Plus, the Mister is limited by its own HDMI output, as it can barely do 1440p without Pixel Repetition, so it's never going to do 4k. i agree CRT users are the main target group for Groovy_MiSTer, and will benefit the most from something like this in an arcade cabinet. and i apologize for asking th...

Very cool project! It's pretty useful for folks using modern displays as well, any plans to add Shadowmask and Adaptive Scanline support?

was also curious what the current limits of video output resolution is?
can this output 1080p, 1440p, or 4k to a computer monitor hooked up to a MiSTer over HDMI?
or does it max out at 480p??

Set this up tonight using an old NUC running Debian and it worked fantastically. I noticed occasional color/sync issues in the brief time I was able to test it. I have a very finicky KV35V75 Trinitron using svideo which MikeS has had to tweak settings to get working better before in his yc cores. Any idea where I could start to try and tweak it my...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

i also needed a moment to process what this is doing :) in essence, Groovy MiSTer is a way to elaborately screencast Groovy MAME on a PC to a MiSTer while making use of the MiSTer interface/controls/video output. people who use a dedicated setup in an arcade machine, or similar enclosed space, who prefer to not have to boot up a separate device and...

aww very cool to see some of the Kaizo community here. yes, as others have said, SNAC is used strictly for the core and controller type that youre using (SNES for SNES core, NES for NES core, etc). the will give you a 1:1 input timing of the original controller with the correct polling behavior of the system youre playing and zero input lag. the on...

i think theyre on the optional coinops collection or arcade offset with the update all script.
you will need to edit the downloader script to get them (when you start update all 2.0, it will ask to press something to get into the setttings)

Which got me thinking if its possible to use an upscaler like the retrotink 4k as that has a 600 MHz pixel clock. Rather than upscaling use it to add blank lines to reduce latency without the need for VRR. ive also wondered if this is possible, or rather something like doubling the refresh rate of the original core to gain better input latency (si...

i think this is a case of Analogue announcing lots of potentials for a device, and then working feaverishly on making it a reality later. however, if this is openFPGA, and people get a bunch of MiSTer cores ported over, im sure alot of folks would buy the analogue 3D as a way to have a consolized MiSTer that outputs in 4K, with 4 controller ports r...

Re: The “Cycle Accurate” Conundrum and Is There a List of Cores That Are?

in my opinion, the MiSTer is a system that appeals to some niche audiences. 1) speedrunners of retro games who want an all-in-one FPGA system for retro consoles. added benefit of HDMI output for streaming and video game capture. these group of users are fans of the MiSTers dual video output for streaming/playing, no input latency, and accurate audi...

hmmm, i would be OK with that.

im mostly looking for a way to play portable SNES in FPGA (with any extra cores being a plus). i think someone could design a simple PCB that could add an ARM controller, a USB, and have everything sit flat enough to put a battery/buttons/screen in a thin shell

CYC1000 / Handheld SNES FPGA Device?

https://vhdplus.com/docs/components/cyc1000/ VOAYjO4.png would a board with 25,000 logic elements be enough to port the MiSTer SNES core to the CYC1000? could that conceivably be turned into a handheld SNES device (and possibly NES, genesis, PC engine). thinking a 4" 4:3 screen with some decent d-pad/button rubbers (like an anbernic device) i ...

i have ran into this from time to time, with my old PSU and a newer meanwell PSU, using a daemonbite SNES adapter. i originally thought it was related to a power dip, but now i think its related to the USB driver/logic on the MiSTer. ive never experienced this using a daemonbite on a rasp pi or on my computer. like Kubbie said, if i unplug and repl...
