Re: Multiple Custom Controller Layouts in a Single Core

If you are using a favorites menu, then I suppose that you load games via MGL files. You can edit the MGL files and give an alias to the corresponding core using setname . The configurations that you make in the core menu will then be saved to a file specific to the alias. You can use a different alias for each controller setup. A caveat is that th...

Odyssey 2: No audio via TOSLINK

I connect MiSTer to an external speaker via an optical audio cable on the analog IO board. This works perfect for all cores but Odyssey2, which is silent. Sound works fine with the same core if I change to either an analog cable or HDMI. I suspect that it is a bug in the Odyssey2 core. Can anyone confirm the issue? EDIT: Looking at similar topics, ...

Re: Split core into separete cores for SMS and GG

I confirmed that if I comment out my [SMS] ini section, my [GameGear] settings are correctly recognized. But as soon as I uncomment [SMS], then those settings override [GameGear]. This is frustrating. It's not how it's supposed to be working, right? Is the GameGear section below the SMS section? If not, try switching the order. If that does not wo...

Re: Correct Speed for Auto Fire?

For the most accurate speed, you can use the Turbopad emulation for this specific core. In the core menu under "Hardware", look for the setting "Controller" and select "2 Turbo". Then turbo fire is provided by the buttons that you have mapped according to the following scheme: I, II (normal), III, IV (turbo 1 level), a...

Re: How to Create Game Directories?

By saying that you do not want to create duplicates but use the files that are already there, I presume that you want what is called symbolic links in Linux. The version of Linux that MiSTer uses has support for symbolic links with the ExFAT file system. I do not use WinSCP, but it should allow you to create symbolic links, see https://winscp.net/e...

Why do you think the channels are reversed? Have you confirmed that there is the same issue in more than one Turbografx game and no issue for other cores? (To rule out that it is not a bug in the game or that your speakers are connected wrong.) When I check the sound using the 240p test suite hucard rom , the left and right audio channels plays cor...

Yes, Ogre Battle 64 is likely too large for your setup. As it says on the Github page, 32Mbyte SDRAM can only be used for games up to 24Mbyte in size.

The need of more RAM for the new N64 and Saturn cores finally made me decide to upgrade.

Hi! Here are my experiences with the new neo geo core so far: Some game images won't run with the CDZ + UniBios settings so far (like Last Blade 1+2 for example). The reason for this eludes me... However these games run fine with the normal "Neo Geo CD"-Bios. Trying to speed up load times with the 4x setting doesn't help. At first it loo...

Re: Cannot Load .chd with CDZ Setting

OK, the issue is likely the copy protection on CDZ for some games. Try an older game like Andro Dunos and it should run. You can bypass the copy protection by using UniBIOS. You need however set the system to CDZ in UniBIOS settings. You can reach the settings by pressing Select at start up. After setting the system to CDZ, exit by pressing the C-b...

I can confirm that 32MB SDRAM is sufficient for small and large CD games.

The XML files and the rule that each game's ROM files must be in their own folder apply to ROMs in Darksoft format, not .neo format. Try removing the XML files (gog-broken-romsets.xml, gog-romsets.xml, romsets.xml) and moving the .neo files to the main NEOGEO folder.

You can calculate the CRC32 checksum with various programs, for example this online tool: https://www.romhacking.net/hash/ I played through the entire first scenario (although I failed the 5th mission). No crash. I used a SRAM hack of the game but I am certain that the original rom is not more prone to crash. CRC32 of original rom: cf690a75 CRC32 o...
