Re: FPGA-based real GPU

It's currently targeting the Kria SoM platform.

Of all the parts of this project, writing Windows drivers for it have been the most painful.

Hahah, I could have predicted that. :P

Re: Special Sauce Collection (Now Superseded)

Just what I've been wanting all along :) Tested out a bunch (but not all), I only ran into one issue. Albion doesn't load directly into the game, the CD mount isn't detected. EDIT: Worms also wouldn't launch, it did not detect dos4gw.exe or maybe the version is wrong for it. I'm so sorry. I just retested both of these on my end and they are loadin...

Re: Please Post Your .ini Settings if You Are Using MiSTer on a 4K TV

It really depends on your tv's compatibility. My LG G1 is highly compatible with non-standard resolutions and refresh rates so typically I can get away with the following attached example. I take the default MiSTer.ini and modify these lines: hdmi_audio_96k=1 vscale_mode=4 video_mode=13 vsync_adjust=2 hdmi_game_mode=1 vrr_mode=1 and I add this exce...

What's better will depend on what you find out when you test it. Even from just one tv model to the next it can differ.

Re: MiSTer case upgrade

The newer version of the MiSTerAddons case should at least prevent the microSD card from falling in which is good. That sounds great. Any reference online? Any ETA that you know of? Oh he's just got it dialed in so it shouldn't fall in anymore currently. It's been that way the last year or two. You have to make sure you use the right spacers and f...

Re: Getting ready to build my first MISTer - A few Qs

The main advantage to connecting to some 4k tv's is dependent on the compatibility of that TV with non-standard resolutions. The MiSTer can output a maximum of 2560x1440 resoultion with pixel repetition mode (which is actually doing 1280x1440 in a stretched way skinnier than normal, but it's telling your screen to double the pixels horizontally to ...

Re: How to force use of a Wi-Fi BSSID

How did you get the MAC for the specific AP? Did you use "iwlist wlan0 scanning" on the MiSTer? don't forget to use the key_mgmt in the network brackets as well network={ bssid=AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF psk="*********" key_mgmt=WPA-PSK } The key management method has to be declared explicitly I think so that linux will mix it with the p...

Re: Is this frequency showing correct on crt?

That's correct. Totally normal. In this menu the first is the native resolution and the second is the scaled resolution. The Menu core (what you see upon boot) is a bit special and different, but 59.8hz is normal for analog video. Cores of different systems will have different native refresh rates that vary widely so you will see this number change...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

It would be pointless using a Pi to do this. A Pi can already do what this core is doing, natively, without having to go through a network. You can even use original resolutions, and refresh rates, at 15hz, connected to a CRT. So can a PC or miniPC. I think the idea is that the MiSTer solution is lower latency than a local video card with all its ...

If you reset the game after selecting language, that god awful sound won’t appear anymore. Are you testing with the Mega Drive core or the Genesis core? The Mega Drive core resolved this issue last I tested. It was the same problem that Total Football had with the Genesis core, it was very likely a bus arbiter timing problem. This game needs to be...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

I am not very familiar with Mednafen so I looked it up. I think nearly all the cores it emulates are already on the MiSTer. I am curious why we would ever use Mednafen with this when we already have the cores available. It's not meant to be negative, but just a genuine question. Is there something Mednafen gives us that the MiSTer cores don't? Reg...

BlisSter won't allow lightguns to work afaik, whereas SNAC will, so suggesting it as a replacement of SNAC is not always going to be appropriate. Also, BlisSter does not have any meaningful advantage over many modern usb controller adapters such as the following: https://www.tindie.com/products/timville/triple-controller-misteranalogue-pocket-adapt...

Re: Arcade button setup as part of main menu

In general whenever I start a new arcade core I just map my buttons there in that core once and then I don't have to think about it. It's pretty quick when you get used to it. Part of the issue is that each core is made by different devs so the button mapping won't be 100% consistent between them, as the button indexes and how it's mapped sometimes...

It's not possible and it likely won't be added as an option. You should just get a longer cable and put your left speaker in the left position and your right speaker in the right position.
