Re: Macintosh Plus Setup

Huh. I just looked up a photo (which I probably should have started with LOL), and sure enough, you're right - they are indeed wider than I remember, and absolutely not 4:3. Ah, the beauty of 35-year-old memories. laughs

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup

@meauxdal - First, thank you SO MUCH for the MacPack. I'd never given it a try (I was operating off my own homegrown SC40 image)...it's fantastic in so many ways! Also, I see your point about the aspect ratio...it'd been a hot minute since I fired up the Mac, but it's an interesting tradeoff. With proper PAR, things like the background don't experi...

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup

@meauxdal First, I'm not sure you're taking DAR into account...square pixels in memory are not necessarily represented as such on-screen due to the limitations of analog display technology. That being the case, might I suggest you create a custom aspect ratio for the MacPlus to visually confirm your suspicions? It may also prove to be a suitable lo...

Wow - I'm impressed, and agree this is absolutely the way forward for "config-free" period-correct PC gaming.

Salut!

Re: USB Hub Ports Seem to Be Dead

That's pretty strange. It's not...

  • power, because the USB bus is detected
  • the USB cable, because the device is detected
  • the USB controller, because the device is recognized

yet xpad seems really unhappy.

Do you have a different controller that isn't an xbox pad emulation that you could test with (i.e. anything directinput)? A keyboard?

Agreed, improved fidelity for vector games would be really nice, not that a ton of games would benefit from it, but a few classics, and yes asteroids is a prime example where really almost know one has seen the original (I was quite lucky last year to revisit the game in its original state again) I guess it depends on where you're from - the barca...

There just aren't a lot of complex components on that board to fail, but if you're sure you've got +5V on the board...it's dead, Jim. :/

Re: USB Hub Ports Seem to Be Dead

It may look like it's connecting well, but if that power is lost, the ports shut down...I saw exactly the same on mine, and you could 'bump' the MiSTer and everything would come back. My solution to ensure a very solid connection was to solder a wire between the connection point on the bottom of the board and the "finger".

Re: USB Hub Ports Seem to Be Dead

What form does that bridge take on yours? More specifically, where did you obtain it? (That bridge can occasionally get finicky if it's a metal "finger" that extends up to the DE-10 versus a plug.)

Curious - did they have a black or blue plastic piece in the plug? USB 3.0 is always blue.

Problem with Keyrah is that one of the lines on port 2 is shared with port 1, so you can end up with crossover in less-than-ideal circumstances.

Re: AmigaVision (MegaAGS) 2023.12.25 Released with Updated Game Configurations

This will be addressed in the upcoming AmigaVision release, for the record. PAL60 has generally been reset to PAL50, and I will selectively apply PAL60 or NTSC settings where it makes sense (DOS ports, Atari ST ports, US game studios), as well as 5×PAL scaling presets for games that were previously PAL60. PAL60 removal commit on GitHub God bless.....

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

Yes in the menu it is fixed for me too. Not sure if the small audible cracks at certain points were in all earlier versions too. Quite possible that I just didn't noticed them before. The sound when the Saturn menu opens without a disc inserted is different too. I had a Saturn back in the day but can't recall what the sound was back then. I didn't...

Not fully fixed for me, but much improved. I still get some cracking whenever the sound is inititalised (e.g. after loading). It's very short, but audible (only tried DualSDRAM now).

I was referring to the menu sounds...never heard it on load, but wasn't listening for it, either.
