Re: MT32-pi works on MiSTer but what about Windows?

I use my MT32-pi thru wifi networks with my mac and the built-in network midi setup. I found some third-party options for Windows but I haven't tried myself.

Re: Cheap Option for Headphone Audio?

Yes the menu change the volume on all output (HDMI, Digital audio and Analog with IO Board). It will lower the volume but the max volume will be topped at line level. If you need to drive a good pair of headphone with higher impedance you should check for a headphone DAC with a dedicated volume control.

In that case you will have to rely on the volume control in the Mister menu.

Re: Cheap Option for Headphone Audio?

If the usb power is a issue, since it's a regular 5volt input, you could use your main Mister power supply with a Y splitter. Also, depending of your digital IO addons you will need a Toslink to SPIDF adaptor or cable:

I don't own that particular model. Depending of your mister USB hub, if you got one of those add-on board for your MisterFPGA it shouldn't be a issue.

Hi,

You can either use a HDMI audio extractor or a Toslink audio DAC.

That's this thing here that's missing? This is a general overview, but it's missing specifics on the registers. Maybe it's a mistake telling Mac that it's a SE if this is absent, that games might fallback to Mac+ sound if it's set to +? https://se30forever.com/sound.html The Macintsoh SE and Macintosh SE/30 are 2 different product, To my knowledge...

Another option is to use something like FileZilla https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?platform=osx

Then connect via sftp

Cybeduck (https://cyberduck.io) is a good alternative on MacOS for sftp connection.

I want to capture full screen, not the screen part in core. Window Key + PrtScr is not suitable for me. I hope to capture the screen after filter processing like scanline, and include the left & right border in 16:9. The resolution of screen I captured is what the screen resolution set in Mister.ini Is there any way to achieve the goal? I've f...

Most common issue is the USB cable, the audio feed is very very length sensitive. You need a very short USB3 cable, everything over 12 inch screwup the I2S audio connection. This is the one I use: https://www.amazon.ca/-/fr/gp/product/B07QMPJ9V1/ Thank you - it did come with a USB3 cable, but I will replace that one just to be sure. Strange, make ...

Re: Games for young children

I think you should avoid arcade core for now, those games want to kill the player as fast as possible. I don't have any specific suggestions, but you should start with console like the Atari or Coleco Vision, also old computer core like the MSX or C64 got more of educational and slow pace games than consoles.

Re: Why I hate emulation.

RetroArch syncs the cores to the host's framerate, and so does DuckStation since yesterday providing you activate the "sync to host refresh rate" option. So it's IMPOSSIBLE to have out-of-sync frames if you have enough CPU to cope with the emulation on your buffer scheme (you need more CPU to emulate the same machine on 2 buffers: but ru...

Re: Why I hate emulation.

What break software emulation for me isn't a question of lag but video stutter. I'm very sensitive to screen refresh and uneven/misaligned frame timing like watching 24p film converted to 60i/30p TV with telecine. Most software emulation doesn't care about preserving vsync frequency from original hardware like Mister does so easily on both analog a...

Re: Bluetooth Headphones & MiSTer

For what I know, the HPS (ARM cpu) of the Cyclone V doesn't have a direct access to video and sound coming out of the FPGA Core, making hard (if not impossible) to output sound on any USB/Bluetooth audio interface beside Fluidsynth/MT32 sounds used with some computer cores.

Re: A couple ideas, are they doable?

Question about transforming the Mister into an OSSC has already been debated many times, doing so needs to reallocate currently used GPIO and add a new IOBoard with analog inputs, from there it’s better have another dedicated project than merge it into Mister. Now about video over USB, in my understanding of the Cyclone V architecture, the USB and ...
