Re: Your favorite NES palette?

Semi off-topic, I wonder if the American NES outputs different colors than the AV Famicom. I have the AV Famicom and Mister hooked to the same TV with a splitter box. Switching back and forth between the two, I can't find a palette that visually matches the SMPTE color bars from the 240p test suite ...

Re: TP-Link TL-WN725N V1 Driver

The .ko file from user ioev, as well as these installation instructions from the mister wiki (https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/wiki/MISTER-CUSTOM-WIFI-DRIVER-COMPILATION-GUIDE), followed by running the wifi.sh script, worked for me! It does not delete itself either, just works perfectly a...

Re: Your favorite NES palette?

So would you say Unsaturated is the most authentic (OG NES+CRT) palette? I have not been able to compare side by side yet, but I've been playing the NES over a CRT for over 20 years and it's the one that strikes me as the most authentic...scratch... accurate to my experience when using an NES on my...

Re: Your favorite NES palette?

I'm using the Unsatured or the pvm palette at the moment. The Sony CXA is very colorfull, maybe I need to get used to it. Looking at Super Mario, I played this on the NES, but also in de arcades when I was a kid. I don't remember exactly how the colors where for the arcade version. Arcade colors we...

Your favorite NES palette?

I personally keep switching between Unsatured V-Final and Pixeltao v2 (from the downloadable custom palettes). I like how faithful the Unsaturated palette looks compared to an NTSC CRT, but I love the satisfying reds of Pixeltao.

Out of curiosity, which ones do you use? Any special reason?

Re: Composite Adapter for MiSTer

Some discussion on the adapter on Atari-Forum from Oct 2019: https://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=37611 I do not know if this still accurate, though. Edit: Appears to still be accurate as of earlier this month (Aug 2020), per this tweet: https://twitter.com/cunyfidefins/status/12932650219049...

Booting Windows?

I've got a solid noob question for you guys: how can I boot Windows from DOS? I have DOS 6.22 all setup and working, but I'm more insterested in Windows 95/98. I tried downloading the Win95.vhd from the everdrive pack on archive.org. It gave me an error "Disk I/O error. Replace the disk, and then pr...

Re: Lights on the MiSTer do not light up

I found my LEDs would not light up when the SD card was not inserted. Is your MiSTer working fine while the LEDs are not turning on?

Re: USB hub with one non-working port?

I believe we're talking about the same port (see attach). I never noticed the pwr1 on the board! Then, what could be powered from this port?

USB hub with one non-working port?

SOLVED: It's by design, a USB socket that only outputs power, does not read data. Original post:-------------- There is one port on my USB hub that doesn't seem to work at all: it's the one next to the power plug, on the side where there is the HDMI connector. There is no green light next to the USB...

Re: Default coin button?

Do you press "A" to tell the MiSTer which controller is player 1 first? That's a new tentative rule implemented in the latest MiSTer update, and it confuses a lot of people especially in arcade cores, since you don't try to press any other button but the coin one in those initially. Ahh! There it w...

Default coin button?

I have setup my controller in the snes-style from the main MiSTer menu, which works out of the box for most of the cores. However, every arcade core requires me to re-assign buttons because the "coin" button seems unset. I find it strange; I would have expected the coin button to be mapped to "selec...

+1, for this: "homebrew authors wanting to use MiSTer as a testing platform would find their game would work fine until they tried it on a real Megadrive with the TMSS BIOS."

Re: NSF Player?

One thing I was wondering about, is there a possibility that the MiSTER could show the different sound channels like the Nt Mini NSF player (shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF4CTtPOtXc)? I really wish I could access this feature without having to buy an NT mini.

Tetris the Grandmaster?

I am wondering if there were talks (or dreams?) of eventually start work on cores that would enable running the Tetris Grandmaster games on Mister. As far as I can undertand, each game in the trilogy runs on very different hardware (the 3rd one runs on Windows XP...), so this certainly does not help.
