Ring King not working (ROM or mapper issue?)

Does "Ring King" work for anybody? I am trying to determine if it is my rom or a compatibility issue with the core. Upon launch the sound works but the picture is black. When the attract mode (demo game) comes up you can see the boxers but not the ring or background (again black). Or maybe missing mapper?

You would need the blue gun in order to use the pink (Player 2) gun ;)

Re: Phaser Light Gun

Very strange. I have heard of Zerohimself's work and from what I have heard his boards are solid, so it probably is not his SNAC board. It may very well be your I/O board. Hopefully you get this resolved. The Phaser (when working right) is incredibly awesome with the MiSTer. Gangster Town is just as difficult (in the later levels) as I remember ;)

Re: Phaser Light Gun

I am not sure about the Retrobit controllers, but i am using all real controllers and light guns with my SNAC and using a USB 3.0 4ft extension cord as well. I purchased my SNAC from Dailydeals1001 (and all of my other components for the MiSTer) and have had no issues whatsoever. It is probably a compatibility issue with the light gun and the monit...

Re: MiSTer core and joystick mapping

NP. I am not sure if it is possible but a better way around it (if it is possible) would be to detect VID and PID of the USB controllers instead.... so pressing A wouldn't have to be a thing each time.

Re: Phaser Light Gun

I am using a light phaser as well and the first game I tried was Gangster Town ;) For me it works perfectly. I am using a Wega Trinitron and for any light guns to work (phaser, zapper, Justifier) I need to set the TV to "vivid" mode, which increases brightness and contrast. If you find your shots are off with the phaser you need to get fu...

Re: MiSTer core and joystick mapping

I have. I thought it was just me! I think the issue is not that the input config is not created (it is being created, I verified) but the fact that the core upon boot is not reading that config now for some reason. Maybe it would be best to report this on github. EDIT: Actually I think I know what is going on here. You now have to press "A&quo...

Re: MiSTer is the best! Thank you!

EDIT: How could I forget the 15Khz (or more accurately original output frequency) video output. Being able to play games correctly on a CRT (even the arcade games) is a really fantastic option. Everything said above, and especially THIS. I was in heaven or so I thought using the MiSTer on a LED flat panel, but oh my GOD how good it is on a real CR...

Re: TMSS BIOS

The TMSS screen is not very nostalgic for me at all. It is very annoying. I purchased the Genesis on launch (non-TMSS) and in later years purchased a model 2 and was ticked that it had this stupid license screen...not to mention it blocked some EA games such as Budokan and Populous (and I think Zany Golf) from working. Nope, I don;t want to see it...

Re: Has anybody tried C16 core on a 15Khz CRT?

I didn't have to merge any kernels. I added the NTSC-M kernel for the C16 to the C16 game folder, but didn't do anything else. I am not even sure if that addition did anything at all for me.

When you say the picture is not "syncing", what do you get? Any display at all? What is the model of the TV?

The problem is, if the config is wrong....how do I adjust it with no video? Only solution would be to connect the MiSTer to an HDMI TV in order to see the settings to adjust?

Re: Has anybody tried C16 core on a 15Khz CRT?

I have it working on my Trinitron Wega 27 inch (circa 2004). Using VGA to component with SOG on, YPbPr on..etc. When initially launched the screen was rolling because all of these cores seem be default PAL on launch which is a pain. I blindly found the force NTSC option however and once active it looks excellent. It has nothing to do with the boot....

I am using the IO 6.1 board with YPbPr to a Sony Wega and it is not working for me at all. I just completely lose video signal as soon as the core is launched. I would have suspected it to work as the real machine pumps basically the same resolution and refresh rate as the Amiga.....and minimig works fine on this CRT. I think there is a problem wit...

I doubt that it is an issue to attach a core compiled from unmodified sources. Besides that it is a forum attachment and nothing that will be pushed to people via updater script. In case others want to use the core I compiled: SMS_20200714.zip Thanks a lot for this. In my case the FM sound was by default enabled...with no option to turn it off. In...

I completely missed that part of the readme! My fault entirely. What a strange method of detection....by extension. First I have ever seen that on anything. Thanks for the info on the auto header settings. Problem solved. So simple....I was overthinking it. It was a struggle getting this TV to work with this to begin with and not because of the MiS...

I lived with my C64 in NTSC land so I am OK with that ;) I was involved in two US based demo groups back then and our demos only run properly on NTSC machines ;) Now isn't that a rare thing? ;) I am going to try changing ROM extensions tomorrow. I think that is the culprit. I bet that changing the .md roms to .bin will correct this issue. We shall ...

Re: Atari 2600

I'd like to add perhaps a fix to the display when using direct video. When using it to my CRT the picture is clear however it is not centered. It is on the bottom of the screen with a quarter of it cut off.

I see no option in this core to adjust the screen.

Re: Is there a way to force (globally) 60Hz?

I have almost everything working fine on the CRT. I can live with the fact that I can only run at 60Hz (it is afterall working properly by function) but the only other thing that bugs me other than the Genesis core continually wanting to launch EU is the fact that you cannot modify other core config files outside of MiSTer itself. For example, when...

Re: Is there a way to force (globally) 60Hz?

Those settings are not for direct video output either. The detection is based on ROM headers. If the rom doesn't provide such info, the core can't make it up. Why it defaults to 50hz for some people and 60hz for others is a mystery though. A mystery indeed. I added a boot.rom (Altered Beast) and upon launching the core it is 60Hz. But, if I choose...

Re: Is there a way to force (globally) 60Hz?

You would think it would detect ROMs correctly, but that does not happen for me. Funny think is that it is set to JP when I start the core, but then launch any USA game rom and it reverts to EU immediately and I have to change it US while the screen is rolling :) I'll try the boot.rom method and see if that does anything. What about those max/min r...

Is there a way to force (globally) 60Hz?

I have been scouring the net and these forums for an answer. Some cores "roll" while connected to a 60Hz NTSC Sony Trinitron due to outputting at 50Hz. The Genesis core does this each time I launch a game as the core always defaults to EU setting regardless of it being changed previously to US and the settings saved. That issue with this ...

Not to be a negative Nellie, but I do not expect a fully functional Jaguar core to be released for a very long time...if ever. I have been following Jaguar emulation for years (decades even) and while there had been some progress in the past it just never grew to fruition a...
