Re: Startup LED Blinking Meanings
If the red and green lights are alternating and fading in and out, that's what they always do when the menu core is loaded.

You bought a poorly made chinese kit that many people have had problems with, but this is how to assemble it, assuming it actually fits together properly:

It's an issue with the core. Even the latest one still has issues running the game, though it's much better now.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development
Woah, did this guy build the CPU and the graphics chips both from scratch? Saturn has a pretty oddball CPU. All of the CPUs in the Saturn are normal CPUs: it uses a pair of Hitachi SH-2s, an SH-1, and a 68000. Maybe you're thinking about the VDPs? Most machines of this and previous generations used custom chips for the graphics, but the CPUs are a...

Re: Serial User Port (IO Board) Switcher
I'm not aware of such a switcher. You'd need something that is basically entirely passive or otherwise just routes a signal without expecting it to be USB. Nearly anything of this type would be expecting a USB signal, and that would likely do some damage to either the switcher or MiSTer.

The bigger issue with the N64 on MiSTer is how fast the chips run; the Saturn and PlayStation's chips run at about 1/3 the speed of the Nintendo 64's.

Re: Logitech G915 & MX Anywhere 3 in Bluetooth?
Both of those are Bluetooth LE/4.0, but the Bluetooth stack on MiSTer is absolutely ancient and doesn't support it, even if your Bluetooth dongle is also LE/4.0.

Re: FPS frames per second display
There's no such option since the FPGA is essentially running all the console components just like the original console did, and they weren't based on frames that you can count; they all run at the display frequency because their sprite engines are chasing the electron beam of a CRT. In this regard, a console core is always at either 30 or 60 FPS (o...

It's as dumb as it sounds. You'd be feeding it 2.5x the voltage it expects which would immediately fry it and quite possibly, anything connected to it.

Re: Mario Bros Always Resets to title screen after starting Game
Totally just realized this was referring to the arcade game, not the NES game (NES core requires SDRAM). This could be heat-related if you have no cooling at all on your MiSTer; if you don't, I very highly recommend at least a heatsink, but the IO boards have fans as well to help keep things cool.

Re: Auto Save SRAM feature
On a real SNES, the console maps the SRAM to a memory address and when the game tells it to save the game, it writes the appropriate data to that address. On MiSTer, that's handled perfectly fine, but the save itself is not written to the SD card until the menu is opened and/or when you explicitly pick the save option in the core menu. When auto-sa...

I play again some time, save the game ad then reboot the game with right most button on mister io board, saveis fine. But If I turn off mister and go back later, the progress is lost in DKC. Even when autosave i...

Re: IO Board Buttons Don't Work
I have an analog IO and I have all the switches in the same direction. Hmm, I wonder what could be the issue, then. Whenever I turn on my MiSTer, the red and green lights blink, and the yellow one doesn't light up. I don't know if that means anything. The yellow light is typically used as a disk access light. You generally won't see it light up un...

Re: SDRAM Reliability
Aside from SDRAM... I was wondering, why sdram? synchronous static ram would give you an access every cycle, it seems (pipelined), and memory bandwidth on random access is a real problem, especially for arcade... OG. Because SRAM is stupidly expensive for anything more than a few hundred kilobytes. You'd easily be looking at $500+ USD for a 128 MB...

Re: stupid question: why cant you use internal rtc, by config?
Even linux has to get the time somehow; the DE10 nano has no onboard clock battery to keep time when it's powered off. The addon fixes that problem. If you want a clock without using the clock board, either use a wired or wireless internet connection so it can fetch the time via NTP.

I'd advise against using Switch to USB and instead just put your games folder there. Also, NTFS is likely going to cause issues - I highly recommend using FAT32 instead.

MicroSD cards don't have write protect switches.
It's hard to say what the actual issue is, but sounds like the SD card might be bad. I imagine if it were out of space or had a permissions issue, it would say so.

On the TG16, the controller's turbo buttons weren't separate buttons entirely, but just turbo versions of the I and II buttons where the turbo function was built into the controller itself. The original Japanese controllers didn't even have the turbo buttons at all.

There's not really any pros to using a different filesystem. NTFS will cause headaches because various cores will need you to rename their games folders to match specific case-sensitivity.

It's that easy; as long as the drive is in a supported format (I'd highly recommend ExFAT), just have all your ROMs in the games folder on it, just like how they're structured on the SD card, but all you need is the Games folder.
