Re: Nintendo 64 Input Situation
I figured out N64 SNAC support and got it working. The data pin (middle pin on N64 controller) goes to D- (white wire if you cut a USB cable and use USB-A) of the User IO (USB 3 looking port) on the Mister IO board. I used an LD33V (voltage regulator) that I had to get 3.3V power (from 5V on the user IO). Works perfectly with my original N64 contr...

Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display
Hey all, recently picked up the ProArt and it's great. But it seems to have issues with the PSX core. Do any of you find it losing sync alot? Any suggestions to reduce that? The PSX can change resolutions to suit the needs of the programmer. A popular example is Dino Crisis where it uses a higher resolution for a sharper menu but then drops down t...

Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display
@aperfectcirclefan I'm particularly interested in knowing how it handles scaling of non-native resolutions like 720p and 1080p upscaled to 1200 (even more specifically with fake scanlines a la Retroarch scalers, the SNES mini and the like, where I expect distortion to be at its worst). From all accounts unscaled native resolutions look fantastic -...

Re: Make Mega CD BIOS "Name Based" Rather Than "Location Based"?
I'd long been wondering if we could maybe see a change in the naming of regional BIOS files for this core? All BIOS files currently have to share the same name ( cd_bios.rom ) so when the Update All script does its job it automatically creates Europe, Japan and USA folders with the relevant regional cd_bios.rom inside each of those folders. As som...

Just wanted to say thanks.
I ordered a case with usb hub and a digital IO board. It all arrived safely today and everything works great.

Re: Analog Board Design Decisions
retro gamers are conformists and don't like HD solutions and they really want 100% hardware preservation, that's the whole point. That seems like bold assumption. Personally, as a "retro gamer", I prefer HD solutions and am thankful that MiSTer project has HDMI out of the box and that the team are doing so much to make the experience HD ...

Re: PSX Error Message E2
OK, I figured out what was wrong, it was the file name. I understood that /media/fat/ was implicit, and was just using it to be consistent with other posts. I decided I would run tree in the command line to display the files in the directory and noticed something unexpected with the output. . ├── BIOS │ ├── PSX │ │ └── boot.rom.BIN As I menti...

Re: PSX Error Message E2
Adding in that I too have the E2 error, and I haven't been able to resolve it after spending the afternoon looking into it. I downloaded the PSX_unstable_20220123_adb1.rdf and I am using the latest version of MiSTer main(v220108, OS v211112), as I believe that the PSX fixes from the unstable branch have been merged in after looking at the commit hi...

Re: Scanline filters not working after latest update
I get things moving forward, but it just really sucks to update and then find things that used to work fine suddenly no longer work. There's, like, zero consideration for the user experience of using the MiSTer. This shouldn't have rolled out until all the other parts were ready. Can I ask you an honest question? Is there a need for you to update ...

Re: Scanline filters not working after latest update
They are not compatible. ghogan42 or someone else will have to create new composite blend filters from scratch. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Filters_MiSTer/pull/32 They're not called "composite blend" filters. But they're there, inside the interpolation folders. Try them. I get that people don't have much time, will, or inclination to...

Thanks for explanation and link.
Still looking into this, but have been pretty distracted with work.

Re: Cheat engine code format
So when I made the above post I didn't realise how easy it was to download cheat packs from gamehacking.org However, until I found that out I had started going down a rabbit hole thinking about how to make my own cheat packs using a ruby script. I know I don't need to do this anymore, but I'm kind of interested in following through. Currently, my s...

Re: List of Core Requiring BIOS Files
I had a crack at refactoring your code. Now it is pretty straight forward to add another bios check # To run this script first plug the MiSTer_Data SD card into your Mac. # Copy this file to the root folder on the MiSTer_Data SD card # Type in Terminal: # "cd /Volumes/MiSTer_Data" # Then type: # "python3 mister-missing-bios-check-3.p...

Cheat engine code format
I have a question about converting cheats codes from raw format to the format used by Cheat Engine . I followed the link to Gamehacking.org, but couldn't find codes for the games I'm interested in provided in the MiSTer format. I'm keen to convert some codes myself, but found the explanation provided on the Github page pretty brief. Could anyone kn...
