Re: well I'm at a complete loss with my two white 8bitdo M30 2.4g USB controllers...(unresponsive d-pad in main menu setup)

I have an M30 2.4g as well although I'm using it wired and it works fine. I have had issues with it in the past where it wouldn't work on the PC. It has multiple modes (I think you mentioned some) and that is usually the culprit. It has modes for if the dpad is analog stick or dpad modes. It also has 3 input modes like xinput and direct input, etc....

Re: Philips TV 15khz NTSC TV CRT Display Sync Issues on Some Cores but Not Others

I think you replied to the comment I made on youtube as well? You asked if the real console works. I don't have a 1 to 1 test I can do since I'm using VGA out on the IO board to the component in on the tv, and of the consoles I have, they are mostly S-video. I hooked up my Saturn via S-video (4 pin) and it worked fine. This Philips CRT I've had sin...

Re: Philips TV 15khz NTSC TV CRT Display Sync Issues on Some Cores but Not Others

I emailed mister add-ons and asked about the R1 resistor and he confirmed the output isn't great on the IO board and to go ahead and replace R1 with a 430 ohm resistor. So I ordered a few different sized SMD resistors from Digikey and the 0805 size looked to be a match. I tested some of the cores on the Philips to see which cores had sync issues be...

Re: Philips TV 15khz NTSC TV CRT Display Sync Issues on Some Cores but Not Others

So I've been doing some reading and one thing that keeps coming up is the sync on the I/O board not being great? In a youtube video posted about this problem the following comment was made: The issue is probably directly related to the resistor that sets the depth of the sync. The analog IO board's sync is way out of spec and it should be a lot dee...

Re: Philips TV 15khz NTSC TV CRT Display Sync Issues on Some Cores but Not Others

Has anyone come up with a solution to this? I hauled my Philips CRT out of the basement to pair with my Wega using a VGA splitter - one for horizontal games another for tate. However the Philips is exhibiting the sync issue. It will sync as soon as something bright on the screen appears (ie Konami logo, or Garegga's Saturn flashing intro). I though...

The Xerox Alto (1973) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xerox_Alto This was a revolutionary machine with a bitmap display, a mouse, and a windowed user interface. Re: A Good Future for CRTs? Open Source Replacement of Electronics

So am I understanding this properly....this project would allow you to take any compatible tv, gut it, and use the open source parts to basically make that TV a multisync monitor that can do 15,24, and 31khz? So you could have that TV do PC resolutions to some extent, or a PC monitor could do 240p for example?

Wow those modelines are awesome! This is crazy because I realized I only played PC games scandoubled back in the day on VGA monitors. To see thick fat scanlines like this is throwing me for a loop. Looking around at other discussions on the net I see similar reactions when this topic comes up. Most people talking about this stuff never had the old ...

Yay thanks for this! Agreed we could use a list of common resolutions. I've just been using the two in the example so far which has worked fine and then default to 640x480 modeline built into Ao486 for everything else.

Re: Starting-point DOS configuration for ao486 and all features (instructional)

Thanks for this. You got me going on the right path. It looks like the version of himem.sys in Dos 6.22 has a memory limitation and can't see greater than 16mb. This effects all versions prior to Win95 see https://www.ardent-tool.com/utils/himem.html The solution was to grab a Win98 bootdisk and copy over the version of himem.sys there (v3.95) sinc...

Interesting I managed to find a workaround with the invalid parameter error by using the line from Flynn's top 300 pack ( https://github.com/flynnsbit/Top300_updates/blob/main/utils/configs/CONFIG16.EMM ) and this works but throws another perplexing error. Re: DosZip (Filemanager/shell) crashing when trying to change drives

I moved on to using dos navigator which works fine so it was just doszip that was the culprit. I also tried necromancer dos navigator - wouldn't start HFM - couldn't figure out how to use it, open source dos navigator - slower than the regular version but otherwise works FW135 - looked promising but couldn't navigate to misterfs drive, minor graphi...

Re: Starting-point DOS configuration for ao486 and all features (instructional)

Can you copy paste your device line here? I don't have any typos that I can see. I think the error is because of a syntax issue here. I'm not well versed but if I used FRAME=D000 doesn't that mean it won't be looking at the CE00-CFFF range anyway? What I have that throws the invalid parameter error is below: DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS /TESTMEM:OFF DEV...

DosZip (Filemanager/shell) crashing when trying to change drives

Something weird happened today after spending some time messing with memory management, config.sys, and autoexec.bat to get things cleaned up and set up so misterfs would run at boot all of a sudden DosZip stopped functioning when I try to browse to another drive. I reverted everything back to how it was before today and its still happening so I ca...

Sorry to bump this old thread but I came across it while trying to get misterfs to autoload across all my configs (including expanded mem). Using the following in config.sys that was posted above results in misterfs working: DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE RAM 8192 FRAME=D000 D=256 I=C800-CDFF X=CE00-CFFF I=D000-EFFF However as was previously stated it re...

Re: Anyone else getting funky results with black backgrounds on a consumer grade CRT?

That looks like some sort of sync issue. I'd do a run down through your ini and check if theres any settings that help. Might have to mess around with custom modelines. Different tv sets have different quirks like this with the timings.
