I haven’t tried it on mame, but I’ll boot it up and try this weekend.

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?
I haven’t tried the latest core, but I can do those jumps easily on my real machine, but struggle to pull them off on MiSTer.

Re: Ms. Pac-Man Oddities
Both of these are normal behavior (i.e., they happen on original hardware). The blue/red maze is some sort of memory bug and the pass-through is when both Ms. Pac and the ghosts arive at a location at the exact same time.

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?
This is a very small issue. I have 4 DK PCBs. They’re all slightly different, but I’ve replaced just about every component in the analog section of one (chasing a bug) and, while the sounds changed, it was more component to component variation than age related variations. 20% spec variation over several components will add up. That being said, I b...

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?
- how has 40 years of time affected original parts - or has the machine been kept well-maintained ? To me, this can be the biggest one. Do we want to recreate what a Donkey Kong board sounds like today with 40+ year old components or do we want it to sound like factory new. Is there even a difference? This is a very small issue. I have 4 DK PCBs. ...

I would try to load some of the early core versions from GitHub and see if it still shows up. Someone mentioned a clock change at sone point in time.

How far off is it? I've played mine using the traditional arcade patterns up to about 200k and I didn't have any problems.

I’ve used an original stick with mame. There is a way to wire the rotary part up with a bunch of diodes and an ultimarc encoder, which I forget exactly how to do. Very cool - love this game.

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?
BTW, can someone more skilled than I (that’s anyone who can actually work with this code) check on the digital music code in Mister. For some reason, the rhythm/notes of the post board song is off.
Getting the analog sounds right would be a miracle, but it won’t be that great overall if the digital music is still off.

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?
I commented on the original PR that got merged. I'm in the camp that was slightly bothered by the samples in that they can't reproduce the random nature of how the walking sound is actually produced. I'd think though that anyone sensitive enough to want an improvement in the existing walking sound would not be convinced that this is an improvement...

Did those games support joysticks? I played them with a keyboard back then b/c joysticks weren’t all that popular on the pc scene.

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?
Just tried it out! It definitely sounds better. I checked an old MAME video on YouTube and indeed it sounds sequential. I think it's still a bit off from a real board, but it's a big improvement, thanks for making this happen!! I totally agree, it sounds alot better, thank you so much :D However, I get some weird issues. It doesn't work to reboot ...

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?
If someone had the skills and was really in love with DK, they could do it, but bringing analog to the digital world is pretty complex. Multiple randomized, well sampled samples for the analog sounds is probably the answer for now.

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?
Although I want it fixed, I don't particularly like the idea of modifying a core (using wav's) to fix a sound issue, even if the original implementation did it. I'd rather a core be implemented 100% correctly true to original hardware and have a solution outside the core. For example, I'm curious to see if the audio coming out of the MiSTercade (w...

Re: Current arcade core with the most useful CRT test patterns?
Neogeo has a test pattern rom. That being said, I find the core to be a bit dim overall, so you may need to adjust a bit once you’re done.

Everything is a bit off center. If you look at the numbers at the beginning of the levels, they’re off too. Great core though.

Fast speed is a popular rom hack (in the alt) section. Here’s a game that I just played on mine (on my MiSTer in a Pac-Man cab). I didn’t see the bug. Do you see it on mine?

Re: Feature request: Children Friendly/Kiosk/Party-Mode Menu
Try using REAL hardware for a few days, then you'll soon see how damn easy the Mister is. Owning several vintage arcade games, I use and repair REAL hardware all the time. I've debugged and fixed dozens of vintage PCBs over the years (yes, real hardware). I've repaired several failing CRTs. I replace dried out capacitors constantly. Old unreadable...

Your over-reaction to the thread was frankly a bit shocking. As opposed to those who newly come to the forum, contribute NOTHING to the forum, or help anyone, but demand that others work for them for something that, quite frankly, isn't needed. Why should anyone work for you for free ? What have YOU contributed here ? To me, it's kind of rude to m...
