Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr

In case anyone else comes by this thread looking for info, I talked with Sorgelig through the Genesis Core github , and he mentioned two things about this issue: May be sync level is not enough for your TV. Component output on MiSTer is simplified and kind of hacky. and It's HW issue. You need a bet...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV

Thanks so much! I've been trying to do Component via an IO Board and running into crazy timing issues in some cores (Genesis, SNES, some others) and every bit of data helps. :)

Hey thorr, what's your mister.ini for the cable that goes to the component input on your TV?

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr

None of the 3 TVs have had caps replaced. They display pictures just fine for most things; if I plug an actual Genesis into them, they work fine. With the MiSTer, it's repeateable that the NES core works fine always, but the other cores only "sync" after loading a game. And the Menu core works fine ...

Re: Custom Video Modes Test Thread

Rise from your grave, thread. I've been trying to get Component output from my MiSTer through an IO Board v6.1 to a consumer CRT that has component video inputs. I'm using YPBPR=1 and video_mode=6. The Menu displays fine enough and the NES core works perfectly, but the Genesis, SNES, and GBA cores (...

Re: INI setting for a HDMI>Composite cable

What kind of issues are you seeing?
What composite cable did you buy?

In theory I'd use:
direct_video=1
composite_sync=1

I'm not sure if those can both play together well, as direct_video is really meant for the HDMI to VGA adapters that people recommend. But it's worth trying.

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr

I've got some more evidence. A friend of mine pointed out that if you load a game, they'll sync. Putting that to the test, it seems like games only sync when the screen is bright enough. For instance, if you start the Genesis core and start Zombies Ate My Neighbors, but you hit start and skip the Ko...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr

I guess I don't understand what's going on. If I can get proper video out of the Menu with video_mode=6, why can't I get proper video out of the Genesis core by setting [Genesis] video_mode=6 as well? Are they outputting video differently? I've also tried some specific video_modes in the [Genesis] s...

Re: "Computer Space" rom on 31khz monitor, custom video mode/scaler settings needed.

I know this is a bit of an older post, but were you able to get it working? I've been looking at modelines a lot lately, and I've been using this post as a guide. Specifically: -Modelines The popular Xorg "Modeline" format can be converted to MiSTer video_mode strings : Modeline "Name" Pixel_Clock H...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr

Alright, I have 3 CRTs. The first two, where most cores don't work, are: RCA 27F554T from 2008 Philips 27PT543S37A from 2004 On the RCA TV, the Menu core displays for a second when I turn on the MiSTer, then it reports "No signal or incompatible signal." Something like that. The Philips will handle ...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr

What's your CRT, what's the position of the VGA Jumper on the I/O board, and have you changed any of the settings in the mister.ini? I've tried the VGA jumper on both 3.3V and 5V; no difference. I set the Sync on Green to On, and I have the YpBpr=1 set in my mister.ini. It works for the Menu, and i...

Re: Rolling picture with YPbPr

I just tried to set up my MiSTer with a component CRT and I'm also getting rolling images with GBA, Genesis, and SNES. Possibly others, but I haven't tried them yet. I'm using an IO Board v6.1 with this VGA to component cable . It works great for NES and looks like SMS is working too. Has anyone fou...

How to configure the USER button on an IO board?

I recently got an IO board thanks to aberu from here on the forums, but I can't find any documentation about configuring the USER button on the IO board. The only info I can find is that it's user configurable. For me, I'd love for it to swap between mister.ini alt files. I'm imagining that I'll hav...

@ jjronimo Huge thanks for this guide! MT-32 emulation on my Windows PC with a great Amp/DAC, ...

Re: I am selling used IO Board and 32mb SDRAM module on ebay

Would you be willing to ship to the US? If so, how much? (Colorado, 80501) I'd be interested in that IO board. I'm considering selling mine and I'm over in 80504 buddy. I've realized I want to solder my own pair for fun, both a digital and an analog and got the PCB's in the other day :). How does 2...

Re: Would a Super Game Boy core/function be possible?

I think the big problem with the SNES core is that it's close to full with all the other various mappers and hardware extensions. I would be interested in a core that forked off the SNES core with the sole purpose of implementing super game boy stuff with proper accuracy, though. I think it's fine ...

Re: Outboard MIDI

I have two little questions :-) 1) Is there a way of having both a MT-32 (or Pi-Midi) and a Sound Canvas (or Fluidsynth) with a single ao486 configuration (with different MIDI ports so that you can set those once and for all in games) ? 2) would be pretty happy with Munt running on the MiSTer -- it...

Re: Hardware Buttons without IO Boards

This is a great question! I've been meaning to figure it out, too. :) If those pins are correct, then all you need to do is connect one of the button's connectors to the appropriate pin and another one to Ground. Pushing the button 'momentarily' connects it to ground, which closes the circuit and te...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?

Is this something with public code/binaries? It would be nice to have a more portable way to do UDP MIDI. I've got a couple single board computers that I'd like to test and see if they're up to the task. :D I just use the exact same MidiLink program that is included with MiSTer on the PI. https://m...

Guide: Setting up remote MIDI emulation (Midilink, Munt, Windows)

I wrote this up in the ao486 section, but it should be applicable to any core that can use Midilink should work with this. I couldn't find all the answers in one place, so hopefully this will help in the future: This guide will allow you to set up Munt, the Roland MT-32/CM-32L emulator, on a Windows...
