Re: Centipede Core
I thought I made three official? Did I make a mistake? I don't know. It depends on when you updated this. What I did was download the test Centipede from the link in this thread and tried to get it to run. It worked but it was using version 4. I then selected version 3 from the alternates and it wo...

Re: Commando problems?
Thanks. I was thinking about hooking up my NES and trying the real thing. This saved me the step. I remember the screen glitching at certain places like when the jeeps come rolling across the screen, but it seems more frequent now that I am paying attention to it.

Re: Retro Arch coming to DE10-Nano this year
The only thing that is of any real interest to me with this is the possibility of using retroarch with my CRT TV via the MiSTer for things that are not yet natively supported by the MiSTer. Being able to play Golden Tee on my CRT TV would be cool for example. You can already do this with a Pi. A Pi...

Re: Centipede Core
Any assistance to get it to use Version 3 roms would be appreciated. Thanks! Use the MRA in the alternatives directory. I spoke with Alan and he is going to make the default MRA use ROM version 3. An official update should be released soon. This is working great, and I am enjoying playing Centipede...

Commando problems?
Hi, when running Commando on the NES, the screen seems to flicker and get corrupted every few seconds. Is anyone else having this problem? You can just watch the demo and see the issue. Thanks! Edit: just found a youtube video and maybe this is just normal. I never noticed it before in all my years ...

Re: Centipede Core
I have updated Centipede and it is finally playable. Coin and start buttons are working. 2 players are supported on ROM versions 1-3 in cabinet or cocktail modes. Version 4 is only single player. If you want to test it, you can download this test copy. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Cujhh1...

Re: Which one is faster - DVI vs VGA
It depends on the scaler in the screen. In my Dell 1280x1024 flat screen, the VGA and DVI seem to be identical as far as I have found in my research. Out of the MiSTer, it doesn't matter if you use VGA or HDMI. They will be identical. If you use direct_video=1, then there will be no lag out of the M...

Re: Mr. Do! Core In Development
I love Mr. Do. I was hoping this would be coming soon. I am planning on building an arcade cabinet and thought of putting Mr. Do graphics on it somewhere and calling it MiSTer Do, but I probably won't. It was just an idea.

Re: First Q*Bert Release
Hello, I tried flipping the screen using direct video and it did not have any effect. Is this only for the scaler? Also, how do you program the joystick for the second player? I want to use cocktail mode since player 2 is oriented correctly, but I don't know how to assign the joystick for player 2. ...

Re: Freesync?
Hi Bret, I would try direct_video=1. This will give zero lag and native frame rates and resolution to the monitor. I don't know whether the monitor can display that or not, and whether the monitor will add any lag after it receives the signal. Keep in mind there is no scaler used here, so the image ...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV
I heard back from J Tech Digital on ebay, and here was their response. It sounds like there may be more to come. This will be a nice alternative to buying the analog IO MiSTer addon. Hi Michael, Thanks for your interest in this product. We have seen a recent influx in requests for this product and w...

Golden Tee possible?
I was just wondering if Golden Tee and its sequels would be possible on the MiSTer. Is the MiSTer fast enough? It would be cool to see someday and other trackball games like Missile Command. Thanks!

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV
Hi Bret, Thanks for the update! I definitely don't encourage or recommend this because I don't want to be responsible for anything bad happening, but most likely the TV needs to be opened up and internal adjustments need to be made to the magnets on the neck of the CRT. The problem is if you touch t...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV
Thorr/Slaps, After playing around with my config this weekend, I’ve decided to revert back to my analog IO board for YPbPr output to my Sony CRT TV. I honestly can’t really tell a difference (which is a testiment for how good the J-TECH converter is). I’ve only had it since this past Wednesday. Wit...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV
I got the one that looks like the J-Tech Digital product on ebay but it doesn't work right. The electronics inside are definitely different because it can be powered from an HDMI connection and doesn't require the power brick. It won't lock onto the arcade signals. I sent a message to J-Tech Digital...

I love it! This sounds like a wonderful addition and give us all more reasons to play our favorite games together and do as well as we can. I used to enjoy the high score challenges on atariage. I got my highest score ever in Keystone Kapers. https://atariage.com/forums/topic/239177-activision-patch...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV
Major bummer! I need a second one. I am building an arcade cabinet with a rotatable CRT with my 21" CRT TV. Good news is I found another place on ebay and just bought one. It is a bit more expensive, but at least I can get one. There are only three left. Get them while they are hot. https://www.ebay...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV
Hi Bret, you can easily switch between ini files through the onscreen display. Press the Menu button a couple of times from your controller (or Esc on a keyboard) to toggle between the two menus (one lets you select your core, the other lets you make general changes). Move left to see the Informatio...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV
I just came up with a new setting that looks really good on the Svideo adapter and also works on the J-Tech but there is a double image:
video_mode= 640, 16, 96,48,480, 10, 2, 32, 25152 ; 480i test
You can at least play Donkey Kong this way, but you are seeing double.

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV
I was hoping that the HDMI output to the J-Tech box would allow the MiSTer to behave similarly to the way it does when I connect the MiSTer directly to my 4k TV (with the cores rotating properly - even Pac-Man and Donkey Kong without my intervention). No such luck I guess. I forgot to mention about...

Re: Direct Video HDMI to Component CRT 480i TV
Hi Bret, I spent some time on this tonight trying to get Donkey Kong to work again but was unsuccessful. The old cores don't seem to want to work when I copy the files to the Mister. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Mappy works fine like you said because they didn't implement the scaler changes to ...

slaps, it might be. Since it is Amazon, you can always return it if it doesn't work.
Bret, glad you got it working! See my PM's and my post on the previous page about vertical arcade games. You may need the old cores since they broke downscaling to 240p on many cores recently.

Re: Horizontal and vertical shift options for analog output
I also would greatly appreciate this. I have tried a bunch of cores and set the TV the best I can so as little as possible is cut off across all the cores, but each core is positioned differently. I am using the HDMI output and converting directly to component video without the I/O board using direc...
