Do you have a link to the 24bit cores? I can't seem to find the cores that are modified to support 24bit analog video on his board.

Here is the link: https://github.com/MiSTer-Enhanced These are compatible with his board according to him, and there is no need to change the DIP switches.

Re: The State of DACs for the MiSTer and Direct Video

Just an update. I ordered the 2-pack of the Moread one and I am pleased with it. I compared it with my Antonio Villena 24-bit analog I/O board and it looks very similar. The darkest areas are slightly different from each other but it is only noticeable with a test pattern and is not far off at all (I wouldn't bother changing any picture adjustments...

Re: Direct Video to HDMI Switch to Retrotink 4K

Is there a way to not use the MiSTer's scaler on HDMI without using direct video? I thought it was unavoidable. I'm unfamiliar with the way it outputs video digitally. Prior to getting the RT4K, I've only used my MiSTer on a CRT. What I am suggesting is that you do use direct video. This will produce zero lag. Then scale afterwards to your display...

Re: Direct Video to HDMI Switch to Retrotink 4K

Thank you, thorr, for confirming. I was reluctant to try a new switch because I spent a fortune on the one I own. Thankfully, I just watched MLiG's RT4K video, and it had the great suggestion of using the pre-scaling feature to get the exact same image quality as direct video! I simply set the MiSTer to always output 720p and set the pre-scaling t...

Re: Direct Video to HDMI Switch to Retrotink 4K

The MiSTer's HDMI port's signal is unusual and many switches and adapters won't work with it. What you need to use is a passive HDMI switch that does not take a power adapter if you want the best results. Re: The State of DACs for the MiSTer and Direct Video

The new Moread syncs pretty fast. I have 3 dacs now it it syncs the fastest by far. Can you do a test for me. Are you running the rca analog from that to a tv or an amp? Turn the volume all the way up on a pause screen with no audio, like Castlevania Bloodlines. Now listen to what kind of static noise there is. Now unplug the RCA input from the au...

Re: The State of DACs for the MiSTer and Direct Video

Received that dac from aliexpress. Video is pretty clean, takes a while to sync on resolution changes though. The audio has some noise to it when turned up. Not impressed but for $2 am not shocked. Has anyone found a hdmi audio extractor that has virtually 0 noise? Have a feeling need to go HDMI to spdif to amp/dac for better noise reduction. Yay!...

Re: The State of DACs for the MiSTer and Direct Video

I also have that one. It works "fine" but it doesn't have good ratings. It requires the special hdmi_limited=2 mode in the ini file because the colors are wacky with it otherwise. At this point, that might be the best affordable one known to work without major sync issues, but the colors aren't as good as they could be. I think the main ...

Re: The State of DACs for the MiSTer and Direct Video

The one I got recently that was supposed to have the Explore DAC in it does not have an Explore DAC in it. Big surprise. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CX1QNTXP It has an NX3303B P16K 22.00 2248 chip in it. Like I said, it works sort of with great color, but the picture is not completely stable. I guess I will return it considering it is not what I or...

Very cool. It doesn't look like this is FPGA, but it could become the equivalent of the mt32Pi for the sound canvas. I have an external MIDI MT32Pi and an SC-55mk2 within my MiSTer setup.

Is this integrated into the main MiSTer main, or do we still need to have a special one at this point? Hi Kuro and everyone here. Thank you for the in depth testing of these dacs. A guy by the name of John on the facebook mister group has suggested this one.

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805242583899.html

Has anyone tested this one? Says it uses a nx3303b dac chip.

I just ordered it and will see how it goes. It's super cheap.

I think you don't have correct options on mame.ini. sleep 0 Thanks! I didn't see the sleep 0 anywhere in the documentation. Maybe it was like that before too, but I am not sure. So what I di...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

A couple of issues that I am having with the new version: Many of the games have black frames and/or red-colored bars showing up at the top of the screen like in Donkey Kong every second or so, but Discs of Tron works fine. I think the red at the top is the same red as when I alt tab away from Groovy Mame. So it is as if it can't draw the screen fa...

Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future

There is a ton more that can be done. Apple IIgs, color Mac, 3DO, ultimate super compatible PC core with a new CPU design and 3DFX card (my personal pipe dream), tons of arcade games (including Star Wars, and 480i/60 support for vector games so they will work on 15KHz CRT's). Groovy MiSTer is really great, but native is still better. 480i support i...

Dang this thread is non-characteristic of the norm on this forum. I am glad it seems to have worked itself out to a more normal footing. For me, the MiSTer is very special. No, it is not real hardware. It doesn't have that feeling of plugging in cartridges and flipping switches, etc. However, for me, it is like having version 2.0 of real hardware, ...

Man I so want that. I actually made my own arcade cabinet in the theme of the Star Wars vector arcade cabinet with a rotatable CRT in it. I wonder if I could hodgepodge a vector / raster mode switch into it. That would be totally amazing if I could get Star Wars working in vector mode and still be able to play Donkey Kong, etc. in raster mode. http...
