OPl3 stereo music isn't working in Doom for me. I entered the SET DMXOPTION=-opl3 -phase command before starting the game, but no luck.

OPL3 stereo does work in Dark Forces.

Corporations are using the chip shortage as an excuse when it benefits them. Eh - I really want to agree with you, but not aware of many companies that profit from not selling product. They are a very small company that can't afford to maintain inventory...that's all it is. Terasic isn't exactly a mega corporation either. Even during the lockdowns...

Have you checked their store? http://bliss-box.net
I thought it was a US Company.

I stand corrected. They do have a US storefront.

The most glaring example I can think of is the game over scene for Banjo Kazooie where Gruntilda emerges from the pod as a supermodel. Re: Are You Going to Re-Configure Your MiSTer Setup for Dual RAM?

My understanding is that I can't use my MT-32Pi through the userport if I upgrade to dual ram. Not true, the Digital I/O board that allows for dual RAM still has the user port for SNAC, MT-32Pi, etc. (And if you are using the Analog I/O board, then you can't install dual RAM anyway as the second port is physically blocked, so it's a moot point) Go...

Re: Are You Going to Re-Configure Your MiSTer Setup for Dual RAM?

My understanding is that I can't use my MT-32Pi through the userport if I upgrade to dual ram. I will need to go the UDP protocol route instead. The problem is that my MT-32pi uses the Raspberry Pi 3A+, which requires that I use Wi-Fi instead of Ethernet for networking. I don't use Wi-Fi, so I'd have to figure out how to modify my Raspberry Pi 3B o...

Re: Redbook CD Audio Support?

I used it last night. The CD audio plays great. However there are couple of setbacks. 1) The audio only plays at the correct timing at the default 90mhz CPU speed. If you set the CPU to 30mhz or 56mhz, the audio will play slower. Some games like Secret of Monkey Island need to be set below 90mhz or else it will freeze during gameplay. Audio timing ...

Re: Replacement of ao486?

I'm not so sure that ao486 needs to be replaced with a Pentium core. When I had a Pentium MMX CPU in the late 90's, it struggled to run Apogee shareware games from the early 90's, since they often ran too fast or simply weren't compatible with DOS 7 included with Win9x. I believe it would be better to have separate cores for Pentium and 486/386. Si...

Re: AdLib Emulation - Missing Percussion?

Some potentially good news. Jotego is working on the Gunbird 2 arcade core. Gunbird 2 is a Psikyo SH2 system. This included the Yamaha OPL4 chipset for FM sound. The Yamaha OPL4 is backwards compatible with OPL3, OPL2, and OPL chips. So Soundblaster Pro, Adlib, and Soundblaster 16 drivers should theoretically work with the OPL4. http://www.system16...

Re: MT32-Pi Why?

Unlike the Yamaha OPL2 and OPL3 chipsets which are used in Adlib and Soundblaster cards, there is no FPGA implementation of the MT32 available.

The only MT32 emulator available is Munt, which is used in the MT32-pi. Thankfully, Munt is open-source, so a developer that wants to implement MT32 in FPGA will have a reference to work from.

I know next to nothing about DPMI (but I guess that's a starting point). It's good that it's very easy to reproduce. It's going to be hard to debug if DOS4GW is a black box where I don't know what I expect it to do. If there are programming guides for DOS4GW it might make sense to make an application that can reproduce the problem. We may be able ...

I'd rather have improved compatibility and functionality. 486 bridges the gap between games from the 80's to games from the mid-90's. There are plenty of DOS games that don't function properly with the current core. That being said, if anybody is considering a hybrid solution to emulate the CPU, I suggest taking a look at the Rock Pi X. Unlike the ...

I found a thread over at vogons that may provide insight.

TLDR, Gateway doesn't play nice if the MT-32 isn't connected to a real Roland MPU-401 MIDI interface.
