Re: Why Remove CRT Adjust?

Wait, the saturn core had crt h/v adjust? From which core version was that available? Maybe it didn't? I seem to remember adjusting H & V. Sync but it's entirely possible that I was doing this with my service menu and not the Core. If that's so, I should apologise for mentioning that it was 'taken away' if it was never there to begin with.. So...

Re: Why Remove CRT Adjust?

Almost every core in MiSTer outputs a wholly distinct video signal with different horizontal and vertical timings. I'm pretty sure that a global setting is fundamentally impossible by the very nature of how MiSTer accurately reproduces the original video signals of each platform it implements. Right, and I'm not asking for a whole integration if i...

Re: Why Remove CRT Adjust?

Saturn core is work-in-progress, so I'm pretty sure the author had a reason to remove this functionality for now and it will most likely be back in later releases. Far as I know, adding CRT-adjust via some global "script" is impossible, it needs to be implemented on per-core basis and is not trivial (or it would have been done already a ...

Does the 480p hack actually work?

The PSX 480p hack is pretty neat if it suits your monitor. I'm using a multisync (240p480p) VGA monitor, so my senses tell me that when I enable a 480p hack, the monitor should render the graphics @ 480p. This doesn't seem to be the case, I output dual feeds (one VGA and one HDMI) from the MiSTer I/O board, one to my multiformat monitor and one to ...

Re: Does update_all Change the BIOS?

The recent update changed some things related to YC, but it shouldn't make things worse? Unfortuantly i cannot test on CRT, but maybe someone can try one of these games on any CRT. I don't get what 480p means for you...did you use some VGA scaler? I was using the 480p video option hack in the PSX core menu. What I've realized that even with it tog...

Why Remove CRT Adjust?

As much as I dig the Saturn Core, I use it exclusively on my CRT and when the options to adjust Horizontal and Vertical suddenly disappeared from the Video options, I sadly don't use this Core anymore.. The amount of crop between regions is HUGE.. I mean bigger than any other Core. It's such a convenient option to have the CRT adjust.. is it coming...

Re: Irem 92 .zip MAME Help

Yup, ROMs were off. I had them to On before I changed SDs, didn't realize that would reset things. I just used a 480p monitor to access the update_all settings and works fine now, thanks

Re: Irem 92 .zip MAME Help

Thanks, will try that. Whenever I run update_all on my CRT, the screen is a condensed size and I can't see the options to enter the settings. Maybe I need to change something in the .ini to see all the options.

Irem 92 .zip MAME Help

So I build some wooden arcade sticks in my spare time, and there's nothing like testing their first run on the Irem 92 with R-Type Leo. Recently I updated my SD card to something faster, and after reprogramming I lost use of the Irem 92 Core. I have the .rbfs and .mras, but when I load a game I get a message that the .zip (mame) file is missing. I ...

Re: 31Khz CRT gets squashed image

NEC JC-1404HMA https://crtdatabase.com/crts/nec/nec-jc-1404hma I'm trying to run everything at 480p with forced_scandoubler, mainly so I can use it to rotate shmups. Any resolution I've tried just ends up squashed in 480p mode for some reason, the resize controls are just front buttons, and they work but it's maxed out currently. Guess I'm just out...

31Khz CRT gets squashed image

I'm using a NEC 3D which can do 15-31Khz, so that's great but I'm only able to view a full image in 240p mode. Once I turn on the forced scandoubler, what ends up happening is the image only covers about 75% of the screen. I've been tinkering with .ini settings with no luck so far. Anyone have some insight what I could try? It's a 1024x768 native r...

Re: No OSD Issues, New PSU?

Just wanted to update this thread, as solved.

Ended up my SD Card somehow committed suicide while I was in the midst of changing power supplies. So, no fault on the PSU at all, just bad timing.

Re: No OSD Issues, New PSU?

So to put those answers in to perspective, Q: Can it actually do 3A at 5V? A: Well the PSU is rated for 5A, not 3A. So, even if it was a lower amperage at low voltage levels, would it be enough to stop the MiSTer from operating properly? Q: Is the built-in voltmeter accurate? Have you tried checking the output with a multimeter? A: It's pretty accu...

No OSD Issues, New PSU?

I just bought a new PSU for my MiSTer since I liked the adjustable digital display. I actually sold my other MiSTer, so I no longer have the original PSU. When I received the new PSU today, I plugged it in and calibrated to 5.1V, and fired up my MiSTer. What my display shows now, is just a blank screen. I can't bring up the OSD even with the OSD bu...

Re: Does update_all Change the BIOS?

So I tried turning on GPU Slowdown and checked for any Unsafe options, but no luck.

I was using Harmful Park at 480p on another CRT recently, but I removed that upscaling option so I'm not sure why I'm having trouble still. Maybe I'll just try updating the BIOS in the Script menu.

Does update_all Change the BIOS?

I have 3 BIOS files installed in my games/PSX Folder. Before I updated a little while back, all my games worked just fine using a 15Khz CRT. A few games that stopped working after running update_all: Harmful Park Kyuiin Darius Games Rival Schools I tried changing formats to bin/cue but still have a black screen for those titles. Re: Fairly decent X68000 Video settings for CRT/RGB with demo

On the same subject but with a low-to mid res VGA monitor, I'm having some issues with the X68K Core coming in to full screen. I have a MultiSync 3D that supports 15Khz-38Khz, so just leaving the settings alone I do get picture but it's really squashed down. I've tried setting vga_scaler=1 but I get some artifacts and image looks like the line doub...

New CRT Vertical Adjust Permanent?

Seems like a silly question. I noticed some of the Arcade Cores have a new "CRT" Adjust option for Vertical. +8 to -8, and although they work great I'm partially convinced the change is permanent to the CRT. I used one Core in Arcades (don't remember which one) and, after adjusting the Vertical upwards, whenever I power on my Sony XBR CRT...

When installing the newest Quartus 22.1, the option to add the USB Blaster II Driver is automated during setup, I'm assuming that would be all I need for driver support when using mini-USB for JTAG. Re: Help Tweaking Timings Video Mode on CRT

Update, definitely a CSync issue combined with Luma. Built an LM1881 sync stripper, and installed it in my scart cable, basically the goal was take out csync from the line. The only way to accomplish that was to put the sync stripper on pin 21 of the scart cable before the output pin, then terminate the csync output so it doesn't feed in to pin 21....

Re: Help Tweaking Timings Video Mode on CRT

You say it prefers luma for sync, isn't that the same as Sync on Green? A VGA->RGB Scart cable plugged directly into the Mister I/O board, and with the SoG switch flipped on, should output that. (It will also continue to output standard sync line, so you should go with a cable with sync resistor for safety, or else somehow block the sync pins enti...

Using a Wii with the same setup, I have a perfect visual, and my Saturn works just fine using just the same IDE cable. The only clue I have, is that if I set the resolution to 512, the redness NEARLY goes away.. that would be with the video code I left ...

Re: Help Tweaking Timings Video Mode on CRT

Please describe how are you connecting your MiSTer to this TV. You shouldn't need any custom modelines to achieve perfect image in most cases. I'm using the VGA Component Cables from the MiSTer Add-Ons Site. Component is then taken to a Trasncoder that outputs SCART. SCART, is then collected to the IDE Cable that this TV accepts for RGB. I've trie...

Help Tweaking Timings Video Mode on CRT

For the past few months, I've been exhausting myself with different .ini files to use with my CRT. It's a 15Khz (240p) Sony KV-25DXR which I am able to get a nice picture with. The only issue is the rolling 'fuzz' that the menu does on any MiSTer appears in a red tinge. This rolling of red happens on any system, any game and it just gets annoying. ...
