Re: Pixel Perfect Output on VGA CRT 31khz

Unfortunately, this setting gives me a final horizontal frequency of 25.34Khz.... You can do other multiples: 640x600@59.8Hz, 1280x600@59.8Hz, 640x200@179.4Hz (although this one may be too much stress on it) Thanks! I've tried 640x600@59.8Hz, it works but obviously when the resolution changes because a game starts, it keeps this "text mode&qu...

Latest ao486 Core Release Messed Up Disk Access

The latest ao486 core release seems to have messed up disk access. Half the time, I am getting this error on boot: FATAL: ata-detect: Failed to detect ATA device And also half the time, when I attempt to start Windows 3.1, it will give an error: General error reading from C, abort, retry, fail. Selecting 'retry' always works and Windows is able to ...

Re: Macintosh Plus Setup

I have released "MacPack-20211212 for FPGA" on archive.org, though it might take some time before it is indexed for searching. I have played with it - nice work! One can immediately tell that it is a labor of love. There are so many games and apps to play with, and I have been spending hours with it. One question I do have: I noticed the...

/media/fat/[core-name] or /media/fat/games/[core-name] ?

I bought a MiSTer back when it first came out and it had all of the cores including their roms under /media/fat/. Lately I have been getting back into it and running the new update_all script. One thing I noticed is that it created a whole new folder structure under /media/fat/games, with all the cores' folders now duplicated there. Is that what we...

luishg wrote: Thu Jul 16, 2020 3:35 pm Right bigern77,

I think it's solved: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/ao486_MiSTer/issues/20

But I'm not sure if you will find the fix on the regular scripts (if you would get the last bios/code through update_all, etc.).
Thanks luishg, I can confirm that using the latest vga bios fixed the text problem in those games for me.

Re: Force 31khz on ao486 core

Wow, this actually worked for me, thanks. I now have that old, natural scanline look in DOS. Unfortunately, starting any DOS games results in out of sync on my monitor. I guess it's because the DOS games try to use 320x200, which is not in my MiSTer.ini. I don't know if it's possible to have multiple video_mode lines in there. Have you had any succ...

Re: MiSTer MidiLink

I switched from the VSTI plugin to just plain MUNT. Pretty much the same thing. A slowdown once or twice a minute. Still overall a good experience.

Re: MiSTer MidiLink

I'm experiencing tempo issues (music seems like it struggles to keep up) using Midilink UDP in ao486 with SoftMPU. Edit: I mostly fixed it, see below. "Munt" running on: Win 10 laptop with an Intel Atom CPU @2.2 Ghz. (Specifically: Munt VSTI plugin running in Falcosoft Midi player.) MT-32 rom. Games tested: Space Quest III and IV. I set t...

Re: a0486 Benchmark (180 DOS games)

i would love to one day be able to play some of the more popular DOS games (all the sierra stuff, maniac mansion, & secret of monkey island in particular) Most classic VGA (320x200) Sierra and Lucasfilm games mentioned already run perfectly well in the ao486 core. Early Sierra games tend to have issues on the faster 486 and Pentium CPUs anyway...
