Re: DOSContainer Alpha Release

Another feature request:

If it is possible to read files from the vhd as well, it would be nice to have a “save regular expression” per config that would allow you to extract the save files from all of the containers and zip them up.

Re: Depricated.

I’ve been using it on a sandisk SD card from one of the first releases and haven’t had any of the updates corrupt my install yet; I used to run it relatively often because I would get confused between the different versions of the updater script and the actual pack.

Re: SD2IEC Support?

I had looked into it briefly, although I didn’t have the time to follow through. I believe it wouldn’t be too difficult overall given that the sd2iec software is open source at https://sd2iec.de/ and handling/translating the commands is a big portion of the battle. I feel it could be handled much like the ao486 IDE support, but I haven’t dug too de...

Re: Nextstep on ao486?

I’ve played around with this off and on for a bit with Openstep 4.2. The main issue is that the current IDE driver for NeXTstep does not work correctly with ao486. The openstep system would never properly read the SPT value and would always set it to 0, causing the system to not find any writable drives. I had done a little bit of debugging, but ne...

... After booting the CD as shown above, the installer will fail because of a non formatted disk and drop you to a bash prompt. Format the disk with 259 cylinders, 2 alternate cylinders, 63 heads and 255 sectors per track. Label it and it should be ready to accept an OS. ... EDIT: Came back to give it one try before bed, but it looks like 2GB isn’...

Re: SparcStation Core

@grabulosaure That did it. I was able to boot my Solaris 8 CD and format a newly created 2GB raw disk before it became too late to finish. For those of you playing at home, my process so far has been to create a raw image with qemu: qemu-img create -f raw sol8.raw 2G After booting the CD as shown above, the installer will fail because of a non form...

Re: SparcStation Core

I am in the same boat. I noticed that it did appear to attempt to read the SD card when I tried “boot cdrom” vs “boot sd0/sd1/sd6/scd0/etc” but I got the same error in all cases.
