From the pictures either type will work they are just open and closed tops for the jumper/shunt, that is the only difference.

The SDRAM test core has no end it will run for as long as you leave it, however an hour is plenty for testing purposes.
Post a screen capture of the memory test core after runnning for half an hour into the thread.

What happens to the wavy image if you adjust the Horiz Hold / Vert Hold pots on the CRT's chassis?

I would contact the manufacturer for support, I think it is possibly a hardware issue with the clock chip on the board.

I agree the 4 chip SDRAM is designed and produced by a third party seller and is not part of the MiSTer projects released hardware.
Newer official MiSTer project memory boards v2.9 and v3.0 have stability and reliability improvements over the v2.5 and v2.4 such as an onboard voltage regulator and more filtering capacitors.
