Re: How to Reduce Fan Voltage?

From the pictures either type will work they are just open and closed tops for the jumper/shunt, that is the only difference.

Re: N64 Core Development Ends

The post focuses on limitations with the built in DDR3 memory on the DE10-Nano board. Despite efforts to address latency issues, he has found no satisfying solution due to the hardware limitations. Robert also announced he is taking a break of around two weeks to recuperate from a busy year of core development, but has plans to integrate the Ninten...

Looks like the MiSTer NFC project by Wizzo has been covered by the Verge, Awesome :D How to modernize your retro game collection in a few convoluted steps All you need are NFC stickers, a reader, a MiSTer, and a lot of patience to add a physical touch to ROMs. See the full article here: https://www.theverge.com/24072166/retro-classic-game-roms-nfc-...

Re: Saturn Core Hardware issue? SDRAM?

What speed does the RAM actually run at? Is that core dependent? Is there a place to set max RAM speed? Down clocking is a normal operation with the SDRAM test core this is how the SDRAM test core can ascertain the highest stable MHz frequency the memory performs at. The MHz speed requirement varies per core, see here: https://github.com/MiSTer-de...

Re: Saturn Core Hardware issue? SDRAM?

Based upon your test data your memory is working. The last row of your test results are the number of fails, all test are all showing zero fails. You certainly don't need to test for any longer than an hour. Remember the Saturn core is still very much a work in progress see here for the recent changes: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Saturn_MiSTer/...

Re: Many Cores Suddenly Not Working?

The memory is connected via a 40 pin header on the DE10-Nano, the SDRAM memory module will move as in rock backwards and forwards, as it is not connected like PC DDR memory. I recommend you remove the SDRAM module and reseat a few times it on the 40 pin header as it may well just be a poor contact with one of the forked pins inside the SDRAM connec...

I don't know how long it's supposed to run. If an hour isn't enough.

The SDRAM test core has no end it will run for as long as you leave it, however an hour is plenty for testing purposes.

Post a screen capture of the memory test core after runnning for half an hour into the thread.

Re: Request: Flair/Tag for Core Developers?

It's a good idea but already exists and has done for a few years, if you have missed it the tag is under the user name on the right hand side, and is present for core developers. I have scanned the thread you posted and I think all the core developers are tagged correctly in it. However as the tag setting is a manual procedure, it is possible I hav...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

Sergiy Dvodnenko This is the first core in which the memory chips are interleaved (run in parallel) to obtain the required bandwidth. This is a necessary requirement for the core to work in single sdram mode. Due to longer track lengths and more load on chip ports, it is not possible to guarantee normal work on 4 chip sdram module. Sorry. The abov...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

So is there a conclusion re RAM specs required for this core? it seems there's still conflicting opinions. my RAM is V2.5 from 2019 and I get 142 mhz on memory test. If you experience issues with the Saturn core, which are not a documented issue with the core, you can check GitHub. Known Saturn core issues are here: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I agree the 4 chip SDRAM is designed and produced by a third party seller and is not part of the MiSTer projects released hardware.

Newer official MiSTer project memory boards v2.9 and v3.0 have stability and reliability improvements over the v2.5 and v2.4 such as an onboard voltage regulator and more filtering capacitors.

"Tested at 130Mhz for over an hour", which is poor speeds.

The Sega Saturn core requires 107 MHz.

Re: 128MB v2.5 Very Strange Problem

The fact you have individually soldered both 64MB chips onto the single chip memory board does seem to show they are faulty, as at one point sellers were producing 64MB memory modules on the single chip memory pcb boards, so I would have expected in your tests for at least one of the chips to work and not error if they were working correctly and ge...
