yes you can get a modified Main from the Insert Coin script

Thanks for letting me know, but if this requires and modified main I’ll probably skip it

Re: Is there a setting to hide the rom loading progress bar?

Someone made a build to do so, but I dont remember the details, but I have to ask why ? Its a very useful inidcation that the core is doing something. I recently got a TapTo device and put it into the PC Engine styled 3D printed case. Using NFC cards printed with edge connectors in that case really makes it feel like you’re using actual hardware. ...

Is there a setting to hide the rom loading progress bar?

I searched but couldn’t find whether or not this can be done.. is it possible to hide the little progress indicator when a rom is loaded? E.g. in the SNES core, loading Neo Geo games, arcade cores, etc.

Group purchase for DIY PN532 NFC scanner

Is anyone interested in a group purchase or does anyone have a group purchase started for this?

It’s a neat DIY NFC scanner for MiSTer! More info here: https://github.com/wizzomafizzo/mrext/b ... scanner.md

Re: How Difficult Is It to Add Vertical Flip to a Core?

Make sure the examples you use implement the screen rotation like hardware, some do not. Here's an example from the same period as the cores you're looking at. https://github.com/va7deo/TerraCresta/commit/45f07284f441d60b4ba883b730423e5e6fd39bb6 https://github.com/va7deo/TerraCresta/commit/198161894124d2134616c86ed182bc9c9fcc7cba Thanks for this! ...

Re: How Difficult Is It to Add Vertical Flip to a Core?

I concur with bazza, nothing to lose by giving it a try. However... It's certainly not the simplest way into learning core development! The level of difficulty in implementing vertical flip will vary hugely depending on the way the original hardware draws to the screen. If you are lucky and the system uses a frame buffer (like Juno First which I'm...

How Difficult Is It to Add Vertical Flip to a Core?

I’d like to take a stab at adding vertical flip to a few arcade cores that are missing it (Roc n’ Rope, Gyruss, etc). But before I go down this rabbit hole I wanted to get an idea on the level of difficulty. I’m an old school programmer from the early 80s. I have COBOL, C, C++ and a tad of assembly experience. I know just enough to get in trouble, ...

NES Open Tournament Golf issue

I tried playing NES Open Tournament Golf today and noticed some glitches. After I pass through the intro screens, when I'm on the screen to take a shot there are artifacts all over the screen and swinging the club is impossible because it moves so quickly. I tried Mario Open Golf (Japan) and it worked just fine, but NES Open Tournament Golf definit...

Re: MiSTerFPGA Y/C Out Module (Direct - S-Video / Composite Output) - Update

Hi, I found this because I was trying to figure out why I don't have color via composite (Analog I/O) for a few of the cores (Atari 2600/7800 and Sega 16) and I am trying to figure out what I might need to fix. These cores have color via HDMI. These I appreciate all of the help here, so if I am understanding correctly, this is because those cores ...

Re: MiSTerFPGA Y/C Out Module (Direct - S-Video / Composite Output) - Update

Dumb question but do I need to enable Y/C builds in the update_all settings or is that just an old setting from before the Y/C stuff got into the regular MiSTer distribution? Nope that is over. Any Y/C cores are already part of main now. Just have to tweak your mister.ini to enable. Thanks FoxbatStargazer! I’ll uncheck that option in the settings ...

Ideas for playing videos

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has any ideas for watching videos through the MiSTer. I have Looney Tunes and Disney DVDs of classic cartoons that were shot in 4:3 aspect ratio. I figured since I already have my MiSTer connected to a CRT TV it would be great to watch them on the original display device that they were intended for. I was think...

Re: Config titles in menu

Alternatively you could use my iniswitcher script. This allows you to give names to your ini files and switch them using the script. What the script does is overwrite your mister.ini with the one you select. This means if you want to make changes to your ini, you should never apply them to mister.ini but instead the named ini files. Downside to th...

No there is very limited space

There’s fewer characters in CRT than ALT1. I’m not suggesting to allow a whole bunch of characters cause there’s clearly not enough real estate. Just think it would be nice to swap the current 4 character descriptions with whatever you want

Wasn't sure where to post this, but is there a way to change the names of the alternate configs in the menu? When you create alternate config ini files you can switch between them through the menu, just wondering if there's some way to change the text associated to those. E.g. instead of ALT1, ALT2, ALT3, it would be nice to show PVM, VGA, etc. If ...
