More than 64K system (heap) memory

Let me start that I don't know much about the (real) Genesis hardware but as far as I understand it the stock hardware only supports 64k of system (working) RAM. Do any commercial games expand this memory limitation by including extra system RAM in the cartridge? I did a quick google search and found this https://www.retrogamestore.com.au/product/m...

Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation

Well at 99 MIPS it looks like it's worth it to me :)

C64 Soul Force save data disk

Anyone got this working?

I brought the digital download, using the easy flash cart image and tried both the Dolphin and JiffyDOS ROM's with some blank floppy images but can't get it to work with this game?

What am I doing wrong?

Probably quite a bit...

Would love to see a bit more performance, even 10-20% would make a difference to the early 90's games I play :)

I tried the same drive image with 68040 on FS-UAE. It runs fine, no crashes. So does seem core related, or my DE10 related.
Could it be your RAM module maybe?

Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation

Yes like I said before, the logical way to test this new 040 core is to first set up a working (verified) workbench installation under winuae (obviously emulating an 040). Once you have a validated workbench installation you can then switch to the MiSTer for a comparison. I recommend using a base OS 3.9 installation with just boing bags 1 and 2 ins...

Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation

Cool to see such fast progress :D

If you want another thing to test with then you can try my port of ZDOOM which runs on all CPUs.

Re: Lets actually try Hybrid Emulation

Best 040 library to use will probably be the one from the OS 3.9 CD-ROM. Alternatively you could try MMU.library http://aminet.net/package/util/libs/MMULib.lha 060 CPU was very different to the 68040 so best not to use that library unless you are emulating an 68060. Also be mindful that most 68060 libraries are designed for a specific accelerator c...

I can't offer any help because this is way over my head but I just wanted to offer encouragement :)

If you can get this working properly it will be so cool :)

Re: Sponsoring RTG support

I had a play around with this, my first problem was that it doesn't come with any screen modes (at least for me) so I had to grab some random settings file and then assign that to my minimig.card to get some modes to appear under prefs. The second problem (which took me some time to figure out) is that only HDMI is supported, you cannot use it with...

Re: CRT VGA Setup using Expansion IO Board (INI File)

I presume you are connecting to PC CRT monitor? Yep CRT VGA PC monitor in full effect. It seems that the MinMig core has a problem displaying interlaced screens (including HAM8) on a CRT, I just get a black screen with no out of range messages Everything else is working now that I've tweak the INI file, PAL games are 50Hz and are perfect. Other co...

Re: CRT VGA Setup using Expansion IO Board (INI File)

Update:

I've just thought of a workaround to my problem.

You can specify that WHLDLOAD using a PAL screen mode even when running on an NTSC Amiga 1200 so in theory if I sent the core menu to NTSC and then WHDLOAD to PAL it should resolve the black screen issues and still run games at a smooth 50Hz.

Re: CRT VGA Setup using Expansion IO Board (INI File)

I have managed to get somewhere with this by using a different config for different cores (override). Still not perfect though.. I have found that if I put the Amiga in 'NTSC' mode in the core menu it fixes all of the 'black screen' issues in the MiniMig core but of course all PAL games now run at 60Hz which isn't what I want. I think this is a bug...

CRT VGA Setup using Expansion IO Board (INI File)

I've been playing around with virtual Amiga 1200 hooked up to a CRT via the IO Board. I have to change the MiSTer.INI forced_scandoubler=1 To get it to display anything at all on the CRT. After that it appears to work fine, PAL games and demos run at the expect 50 Hz for the desired smooth scrolling but I've noticed that certain Amiga screen modes ...

Mike has made some performance improvements to the TG68 core (about 10%), be great if these updates could find their way into the MiSTer one day....

Re: Performance vs real A1200 + 030

I think an 030 has the same instructions as an 020 from memory, I think the only difference is that it has different levels of Cache (and higher possible clock speeds).

Performance vs real A1200 + 030

Hi, Just got my virtual Amiga A1200 up and running :D First observations compared to my old A1200 running various accelerators. Running SysInfo gives 13.69 MIPS which is faster than my old ACA 1230 @ 56 Mhz (12.5 MIPS) and my old Blizzard 1230 @ 50 Mhz (9.9 MIPS) The thing is that SysInfo also reports the CPU speed at 99 Mhz which is obviously not ...

Hi Kolla,

Long time, no see ;)

Yes that makes sense re the 'hybrid emulation' it has also been discussed on the Amiga forums (using something like a Raspberry Pi Zero + FPGA to simulate a real 68K CPU).

Re: Sponsoring RTG support

I would personally love to see RTG added to the MiniMig core so that my newer ports could be playable on the MiSTer (which I have just brought :D ). I just released a special build of ZDOOM AGA with 030 support that I hope is playable on the current MiniMig core. I can easily recompile more current RTG 060 ports for 030 if we can get RTG support. A...
