Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future

Well getting a more accurate Vectrex display output probably would be a high on my list. The current way the vectors are displayed simply is not accurate at all. You would need a blur filter on top of the lines with brighter connection points and some sort of pulse frequency. Besides the higher resolution everything else could be done by post proce...

Re: Vectrex Core

Yeah, my biggest wish for MiSTer vector games is improved fidelity - they just don't look great, but I realize it's a pretty niche request. Also, while we're wishing big, incorporating HDR would help improve the vector display emulation as well. Last time I played Asteroids on a real arcade machine, I was shocked at how bright your ship and "...

Re: Vectrex Core

^ I agree the video output could be improved. The video output is very definitely pixelated. Even if vector effects like persistence and bloom weren't added, increasing the resolution would greatly improve the appearance. Actually a perfect emulation of the output would be following a) increase resolution to remove the edges b) add a blur effect t...

Re: Vectrex Core

Btw. now I am getting nitpicky, the vectrex core now works fine, rotation works like a charm, thanks Sorgelig for fixing this. The thing which irks me most and which instantly shows that the screen is "emulated" is that the vectors are badly emulated. A normal phosphor based vector display has no edges and shows a mild bloom around the li...

Re: The Result of My Search for a Great MiSTer Display

Found this one, apparently there is an oem which manufactures that beast and various brands sell it for different prices. I ordered one in the 150 bucks price range, should come this week. And yes, I figured 16:10 is the closest you can get to 4:3 for cheap bigger displays atm, I just wished someone would do a portable oled panel in this size. Anyw...

Does this work also for starting shell scripts? I would love to place ScummVM, BasiliskII etc... in a more games like section instead of having to go to the scripts folder to access them!

Hi does anyone have this problem. I guess it is somewhere in the ini settings to be fixed.

Update: found at least an indication: viewtopic.php?p=13942&hilit=wing+commander+2#p13942 I will give a direct setup a shot (aka change the config)

Every time a core is updated this needs to be repatched in as far as I can understand!

Re: So Robert Peip (FPGAzumSpass) Is Working on a New Core...

Actually the N64 was pretty powerful, the problem was for cost reasons Nintendo saved on ram (a mistake they admitted later) and for paranoia they went with modules. The hardware itself was awesome and the gpu the strongest of that generation by miles it was just basically entirely castrated by the cost cutting measures and piracy paranoia. I wonde...

Elevator Action (Taito System SJ) is already under development though I don´t remember the author now. Robert has said several times he dislikes arcades so I bet for a console like 3DO or Jaguar -I would love PGM but IS an arcade board similar to Neogeo MVS-. I wish your list come to reality some day. Abandoned Cores, Long Outstanding Feature Requests

Hi, I have noticed that some cores after the authors have determined they were good enough, have seem to have been abandoned. Maybe we can roll a small missing features list here, that someone who can do fpga programming might tackle the task. I would not even mind seeing someone with a patreon here doing the task, he would have my money instantly....

Re: Jotego Fixing Old Cores

Is there a developer that cares especially for the Golden Age or earlier Arcade games? I would gladly support him. Well I think there is not too much interest into those games, most devs I noticed care mostly about late 80s early 90s arcade games which consist mostly of shooters ans brawlers (thats about the time I lost interest in the arcades bec...

I honestly hope it isn't Virtual Boy. I have a consolized VB and it just isn't the same. These games were designed to be played in 3D. Playing them in 2D on a TV is not very fun imo.

My first thoughts were directed towards 3DO or Virtual Boy. However, based on the clues that he has given on his Patreon page (including a screenshot), my bet is now on a different beast. With this in place, I'm now able to try and run all kind of homebrew or original software. While most fully-fledged programs won't do anything yet, being able to...

Normal controllers and a keyboard, but given most atari 5200 games do not really use the pad anyway you can play most of them with something like a gamepad or an arcade stick.

Re: Seems like the Apple Lisa OS Sourcecode has been released

If Wikipedia is correct, yes and no: In 1982, after Steve Jobs was forced out of the Lisa project by Apple's board of directors,[4] he appropriated the Macintosh project from Jef Raskin, who had originally conceived of a sub-$1,000 text-based appliance computer in 1979. Jobs immediately redefined Macintosh as a less expensive and more focused versi...

Seems like the Apple Lisa OS Sourcecode has been released

https://info.computerhistory.org/apple-lisa-code Short explanation for some who dont know it yet. Apples Lisa was the predecessor to the macintosh, heavily influenced by the Xerox Parc research machines, it to my knowledge still used Smalltalk as operating system and programming environment. Ok thanks, then we probably have to wait for the core authors to do that. The Vextrex definitely would need it, given that the original console was 3:4 instead of 4:3 to mimic the arcade cabinets of its time. Re: Wishlist of Cores You Would Like to See in the Future

I would like to see the Virtual Boy preserved for FPGAs. I have one and most of the NA library that I'd be willing to loan or give to a developer if a sacrificial unit would be needed to make that happen. The virtual boy probably would be preserved best via VR not FPGA... FPGA does not really give the hardware the justice it deserves! Speaking of,...

Hi I have a question. I now have a rotatable monitor attached to my mister.
