Re: Real Floppy Drive

for interfacing a Floppy Drive have a look at the chip used on later model PC motherboards, they used a Low Pin Count interface. the parts are still available.

Re: USB Ethernet Adapter Device Driver

exactly how much clearance do you need? a svelte cable could be made by crimping naked twisted pairs into the connector combined with trimming away the excess material after the strain relief, so that the plug may sit flush with the socket. Yes, one can do that. It still looks strange and it somehow solves the problem just for that one. An USB2LAN...

Re: USB Ethernet Adapter Device Driver

why do you need USB Ethernet support? The standard LAN port is somehow unfavorable placed (opposite side of video output) and ethernet cables are not the most flexible (even if UTP). The USB adapter would help with cable laying and would increase port placement flexibility. HA you should see my rig, there is something plugged into every side!

PT-68K anybody here heard of this late 80's kit computer?

I remember reading about this 8 bit bus Motorola 68K kit computer in the early 90's, archival information about the series of Radio Electronics Magazine articles can be found here. from what I have found by digging thru back issues the series ran for 13 issues of the magazine, ending with the coverage of the Atari ST Computer system. sadly I have y...

Re: ao486 wish-list

another thought I just had was having a ISA adapter card made so the DE-10 nano could be plugged into a passive backplane board. the spec sheet claims there are 145 user configurable GPIO pins available. perhaps this could be configured to work with the SDRAM by way of a CPLD chip.

I would think for now that building out a IIGS core minus that one component would be of greater benefit then arguing about it absence.

Re: Apple IIgs core

IIGS would be a tough core to do. Not so much for the CPU and graphic modes, as they are pretty straightforward - but for the unique Ensoniq sound chip. Unless it's similar to another sound chip that has been done, it's a lot of work from scratch. even a partial IIGS core is more than we have now. IMHO sound can wait get "something" goin...

Re: Problem with RTC board

I think all the scripts are not even described anywhere. I think the problems you had are due to the fact that on a newly installed board the clock contains garbage and must be set before you can use the -u function. You can also set the time zone with the timezone.sh. yeah pretty much, nothing would work till I manually set the time to something ...

tontonkaloun wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2020 1:04 pm Hello,

with the latest core version, windows 95 doesn't like empty ide ports.
You just have to put a small virgin vhd to the empty ide port, and you can start win95
then you can delete them
how can you configure that without using the Windows key + F12? I can't bring that menu up after starting the AO486 core.

How to initial config with SD card reader

Hi, I'm having a devil of a time trying to get my ao486 core to boot for the first time, so I'm interested in learning if there is a way to configure the core from my PC to specify the disk images attached to said core. my interest in doing so is spurred from my seeming inability to access the setup menu after a failed boot attempt in the ao486 cor...
