I'm pretty sure if you put an entry in names.txt that is just "<core>:" without quotes (i.e. aliasing the core name to nothing), it has the effect of hiding it in the menu.

I've not tried this.. but i did wonder if doing this had that effect..

Re: Is it possible to hide cores without deleting them?

it's not, but you could create a new directory in the root, and populate it with *mgl files linked to the cores you want to run..

Re: Can You Change Core Settings Before Starting the Core?

do you mean, like a boot order? if no disk is inserted, boot from hard-drive? i'm not sure you can do that, but it sounds like your hard drive file is in the startup slot, if you save it to another save config slot, and in the startup slot leave the disk option empty and save it.. then it will boot to the 'hand' insert disk screen where you can f12...

For some weird reason, I still haven't used my MiSTer on my 65 inch TV, I really should do that some time soon.

Re: Store All My Original Hardware and Use Only MiSTer

Even the media that surrounds the computer period I grew up in goes for crazy prices, did you see recently the first edition of Amiga Format sold for over £100 on ebay?

I'm happy with the Amiga 500 I bought last year off ebay, I couldn't justify spending top whack on a 1200 at the prices they're selling for though

Re: Store All My Original Hardware and Use Only MiSTer

That's a serious collection.. I really wished I'd kept all the computers I had growing up through the 80's and 90's.. but same old story, I sold one to buy the next.. it's only over the last few years I thought I'd like to have an Amiga again and/or an ST, ironically the MiSTer reignited my interest in 8/16bit machines. You are quite correct though...

Re: Store All My Original Hardware and Use Only MiSTer

Keep your original hardware, nothing can match REAL hardware, not even the Mister. Real hardware has history, it's been made, sold, and used, back in the day - The Mister doesn't have this. In 10+ years time, your original hardware will be worth 2x what it's worth today, the Mister will be worth nothing. Mister is like emulation, it gives you a qu...

My only MAJOR complaint about the MiSTer project in general, are things like reluctance to consider a GUI over CLI

nothing stopping you developing this idea yourself Midline, that's why it's open source..

i guess you could quit to workbench, find the files in whd load directories and delete them, they'll appear in the menu but won't load in.. (not sure if it will bring up an error thou) i'd back it up before trying it.

Remove the daughter board and you can use a second memory module (and lose that analog output). Another advantage would be not having to upgrade your housing (not even when using two memory modules). The memory slot is still there, possibly that only works without the daughter board attached. can the old memory modules (i've got a 32meg and 64meg ...

don't get an error it just hangs on the blue loading workbench screen.. hard drive light flashes then stops, doesn't do anything.. i loaded the a600hd fine.. very odd.. If you haven't already, add a "Directory or Archive" in the CD/HD List and call it Shared . Otherwise it hangs when trying to mount it during bootup. still hangs :(
