Re: BBC Micro - Add New Games to VHD

The other core and the suggestion for merging it with the main core was discussed in this topic (possibly others). I missed the addition of disc image support to the main core in February. It seems to work only on the BBC Master model. To get it working, after selecting the SSD or DSD disc image in the core menu, you need to press Ctrl-D-F11 (so 3 ...

Re: BBC Micro - Add New Games to VHD

The standard BBC Micro core is pretty basic, not much more than a game jukebox. And it has compatibility issues.

A significantly better core can be found here:
https://www.stardot.org.uk/forums/viewt ... 53#p353053. It supports individual disc images and has a proper teletext (mode 7) output.

Can't say I put this core through a stress test, but your issues surprised me a bit. I could run Bughunter 2 and Fervour and play those games on the Archie core. I don't have images of the other games you mention. Note that I do use an older core version v201101 because that supports 15KHz monitors. You don't have any keyboard issues with the olde...

Anyone else seeing random character sized artifacts appearing on screen with the Taito arcade cores? I seem to have issues with all the cores. It does not crash the game.

The good news is that support for the recreated keyboard now appears to be integrated as part of the main ZX Spectrum core.

Re: How to setup the ZX Next core?

I had a bit of a struggle with installing on a secondary SD card. The instructions on github currently do not mention that, to use a secondary SD card, you need to create a dedicated SD card for the Next and extract the files from the .vhd archive to the card. It does not work if you just have the .zip or the .vhd file on the secondary SD card, you...

Re: Archie Core - ArcElite Controls

Afaik Hybrid Elite does not support a joystick. The Arcs did not have native joystick ports.

You can choose between mouse (called “Maus” in the game) or keyboard. To use keyboard I believe you need to turn off mouse controls in the configuration menu from the riscos desktop.

Note that speed is controlled with the middle and right mouse buttons.

Super Sprint on Atari ST (and probably other platforms).

Edit: scratch that, the Atari ST core does not seem to support dual joysticks.

I kinda thought they would, since IIRC they were compatible with the older Archimedes models, but I expect I'm wrong. RISC OS 3.70 - 4.00 are for the RiscPC or A7000 series, these were later machines. The Archimedes series (A3xx up ...

8 seconds before MiSTer menu

No wifi or BT installed, fitted with an analogue IO board, 128GB memory and booting from an SD card.

Re: Arcade cores not working after upgrade [Solved]

It is very difficult to help when you give as little information as possible. Do you run everything from the SD card? Do you have a USB drive? Did you look at the log file after running the downloader? It's a pretty vanilla setup. Everything runs from an SD card, no USB drives. I can't find anything related to mame zip files in the log file. The f...

So I found my trusted update script using mister_updater.sh now to be deprecated. It refers to the downloader script. Which I updated and used and messed up all my arcade cores again. None of them work anymore, all give an error message that a file can't be found. Eg. for Arkanoid games/mame/arkatayt.zip/ic75.13 ic75.13e not found I downloaded the ...

Another option is the Acorn Archimedes version on the Archie core, probably the best version.

With the computer cores it can be a bit involved getting stuff working. The BBC Micro core has a few complications and limitations. There are a few solutions you can look at, depending on what you want and what you have. Starting the second processor version The games jukebox menu that you’re presented with as standard is practical for most games b...

Not sure if you are using HDMI or trying the analog video out (VGA)? If you want to use a 15KHz monitor I regrettably have to recommend using the version from November 1st 2020. That's what I use. Just checked out the latest core (Feb 21st). It seems there have been a few improvements, but 15KHz monitor support still seems broken so I'll have to stick with an old version on my setup.

Has anyone managed to get this core to work on a 15KHz monitor with the latest build?

After issues with the update script and recovering using the downloader script none of my arcade cores work anymore.

All cores give : "File Not found" errors. E.g.:

All other cores work fine. Any ideas how to fix this?
