Really oh ok, well thank you for the information it's appreciated. Not really knowing what the genuine models are I could only go off the eBay listing. 🙄

Re: SNAC DB9 Issue with IO Board 6.1

The only other thing of note I suppose is that it seems odd that even when the MD adapter is connected straight to the SNAC board that start and C don't work. Wired like that it only leaves the 20cm right angle connector. Please flip your pad over; what do you see imprinted on the bottom shell? Does it say: SEGA MODEL No.MK-1653-50 | SEGA ENTERPRI...

Re: How to backup SD card

If you're running Linux on your PC you can use Rsync, that's how I've started to do mine as it'll only update changes and it just goes straight to my NAS. Set up a cronjob and as long as the MiSTer is on then you won't even need to think about backups. This is a great idea! Since MISTer runs Linux, is this something that could be configured direct...

I feel a bit silly for asking this, but here goes… To backup my sd card, is just simply copy all folders and files to my computer? Or do I need to clone it - let’s say I want to put the same content on another card? Thanks! Re: SNAC on MegaDrive/Genesis

I think I've figured it out that the problem maybe a distance related one that only affects Megadrive pads or my particular one. My MiSTer is inside a Fractal Design Node 202 case with two front USB 3.0 ports, one connects to a HUB the other to the User I/O. The user I/O connects to an angled male to female adapter around 20cm long, that connects t...

Re: SNAC DB9 Issue with IO Board 6.1

I'm having a similar issue with my Megadrive controller too. Did you purchase your IO board from misterfpga.co.uk, and it had a missing pin? If you are having issues with the Mega Drive controller check you have followed my setup guide here: https://misterfpga.co.uk/sega-genesis-controller-snac-setup/ You do need to have the v6.1 IO board to suppo...

Re: SNAC DB9 Issue with IO Board 6.1

I do mean those controllers. I actually have both of them. The game pad and the pain sick. The adapter I have actually says 2600 on it, so that's why I questioned core compatibility. You can view the adapter in question here: https://misterfpga.co.uk/product/mister-snac-controller-adapters/ Is anyone actually using 7800 core with SNAC successfully...

SNAC on MegaDrive/Genesis

Hi everyone. I've had my SNAC functioning with SNES, NES and PC engine controllers for a while and everything is good. I've just purchased a Megadrive adapter from misterfpga.co.uk to complete the collection. Made sure that the jumpers on the ioboard (v6.1) and on the SNAC adapter are in place, plugged everything in and started Quackshot as a test,...

Re: DOOM Enemy Behavior?

FPGA or software emulation is only as precise as the implementation allows it to be? If i ever were to create a core it'd probably not be very accurate in the sense of timing(s). Then again, there are quite some artists in here that dilligently keep working on cores and provide them free to their community, even when there are some entitled pricks...

Re: DOOM Enemy Behavior?

And when the only comparisons are to software emulation, yes I will discount the accuracy reports. What software emulation was used, what version, what settings. Anyone got their FX Pak Pro flash cart with the rom warmed up and running on a Snes or Super NT. Better yet the real cart. It's irrelevant how a Software emulator performs compared to FPG...

Is it definitely not a ROM issue? Most people myself included don't rip their own carts, the same dodgy ROM could get picked up a few times. Never even thought to play the SNES version of Doom because... Well let's be honest it is pants whether it plays correctly or not 😁

Re: Why is rom loading so slow on MiSTer?

Also there the false equivalence of comparing the MiSTer to other emulation devices. Yes a Raspberry Pi loads roms faster, but the entire inner workings of Emulation on the Raspberry Pi is different than FPGA "Emulation". They are not was nor ever a 1 to 1 comparison of the inner workings. I will mention the MiSTer boots up faster and we...

Re: PlayStation MiSTer Core Repository Created

For fullspeed gaming my emulator would require a ~12Ghz CPU, so it's worthless for that. Most people don't understand why and just say it's bad design, so I rather not publish it. Also I received complains about the (missing) UI. Well, for my basic tests i don't need any great UI. The more I design the emulator to work like hardware, the slower it...

Oh we do, it's just some use both IO analogue out and the HDMI 😅

Whilst I could plug in and unplug the adapter and the switch ini's I'd rather stick with how I use the MiSTer now, that said if it can't be done it can't be, just having a PS1 core would be an amazing achievement.

Does your workflow of building a software emulator first and using that as the basis for you FPGA core help with debugging and getting the logic right, rather than starting from scratch in Quartus?

Re: Discussion of Thoughts From the Terasic Team

I don't really see the point. Terasic/Altera decided to bring the board into beginners hands to grow their audience. Thus they massively subsidized the FPGA on that board. As a result it's simply not worth for anyone else to build a compatible end user device and they actually pretty much killed the original MIST board that way. This didn't happen...

Re: New hardware platforms for MiSTer?

Is the chip alone subsidized though? I thought the DE10-nano was subsidized, and Analogue for example are not using this board. I think the whole device is subsidised, I was just typing hurriedly as normal 😂 Analogue probably have a production scale that allows them to reduce cost, plus whatever they do in house. I suppose if a company like Terasi...

Re: New hardware platforms for MiSTer?

You can already buy a full MiSTer build with SDRAM, USB, a case and everything from a few sellers. While it may not be perfect, I think it's good enough for most users. In my opinion, what would really set your product apart, would be a better FPGA chip. I know that FPGAzumSpass for example cancelled his Nintendo DS core due to the lack of logic e...

Re: Scandoubler don't work with interlaced output

Using VGA on real Amiga is possible with two different devices : Scandoubler and Scandoubler with Flicker Fixer . Flicker fixer have a frame buffer so it haves to store both half frames to output full image. Scandoubler only doubles lines. I don't have a scandoubler but I think it can works with interlaced screens, storing odd line, output it at 3...

Re: USB hub power supply

With normal use you're good, as long as you don't plug that 6A PSU on the same power line with your PC (or your A/C, or your vac, or your power tools) etc. Why exactly? Perhaps I'm mistaken but I always thought that 5V 6A equals 30W. That is less power than the average old-fashioned light bulb. Not sure. 30w might be 6A at 5V but if you'...

Hello. I'm using a 17" CRT VGA with my Mister (connected via IO board or HDMI direct video). Scandoubler is by far the best image quality with most cores. No worries about aspect ratio, scaler options, very crisp image and good scanlines. Unfortunately I have a major problem with all interlaced resolutions : The scandoubler get disabled. With...
