Re: Mega65-MiSTer

Yes. And they are doing it by using 384KB of bram just on system memory. Not an option for MiSTer. On the other hand, Mega65 only provides 8mb of SDRAM period, something that CAN be done better on MiSTer. Technically all of their SDRAM (known as ATTIC and BASEMENT RAM) is on a slower bus than that 384K which is on the FPGA itself. Its a ... design...

Re: How much of the FPGA is used by C64 core?

Almost every computer and console released before 1995 fit into the 100k LEs of the MiSTer FPGA. What are 200k LEs to use for? I‘d think saving money by using the next smaller FPGA in the Mega65 an therefore add more RAM would have been much more clever. Now there is only 8MB for emulating Amiga and Atari ST. Ok, back in the days 8MB was enough for...

Re: How much of the FPGA is used by C64 core?

And I‘m trying to find out how much the actual Mega65 core uses of its very powerful FPGA. The Mega65 Team does not answer my question about it. The Xilinx™ Artix A7 200T FPGA has about 200k logic elements. The Mega65 Team supports a core for the Digilent Nexys A7 evaluation board, which only hat 100K logic elements, so probably at least the main ...

Re: How much of the FPGA is used by C64 core?

Thanks for uploading the table.
Very interesting.

Amiga core 36%
C64 core 42%
The C64 core contains three systems, C64 + 2x1541

Does anyone know where the Atari ST core fits in this table?

Re: How much of the FPGA is used by C64 core?

I’d like to know how much off a FPGA a particular core uses. The FPGA at the DE10-nano has 110k logic elements. For a C64 and two 1541 about 50k logic elements are used. Yes, I know there are more parts in a FPGA than only logic elements. But logic elements seem to be the main parts that are cores made off (and internal RAM). And I‘m trying to find...

Re: How much of the FPGA is used by C64 core?

Interesting numbers.

So a C64 with two 1541 occupies 42% of the MiSTer FPGA.
(and the OPL3 for the FM sound expender option)

Has anybody here numbers from other cores?
Atari ST or Amiga?

How much of the FPGA is used by C64 core?

Can anybody here tell me how much of the FPGA (Cyclone V 5CSEBA6U23I7) is used by the C64 core?
A rough estimation in percent would be ok.

Can I find this out on myself (easily)?

I‘d like to know this also for other cores like the Atari ST or the Amiga Core.

Re: Monochrome Display on Full HD Screen

In the scale menu is a new menu point ‚HV-Integer-‚. And Aspect must be ‚Original‘ Using this options does exactly what I mean. It doubles the Atari monochrome screen and puts it in the middle of the HD screen. Every Atari pixel is blown up to exact four pixels (2x2) on the HD screen. That looks very good. So, issue solved. (sorry for my late respo...

Re: Community sourced game list for AO486 Top 500

I missed three very important games in the ‚Top 300 games‘

Dungeon Master
Dungeon Master ‚The revenge of lord chaos‘
Dungeon Master ll

Back in the days I played the the first two on my Atari ST.
Both are fantastic, also today.

Re: eXoflynn Top 300 update script fail

Hi mcmister, the script V0.7.3 worked fine on my MiSTer system. I used the script on 26.01.2020. First you need a working internet connection on your MiSTer. Looking on your screenshots it seems you have a problem with the VHD file (IDE 0-1 Top 300 DOS Games). (BTW: Mine is 23,622GB size) The mkdir command was not able to create the folder 'dos_gam...

Re: Monochrome Display on Full HD Screen

I tried all four modes. But all modes look bad. In the end mode=0 (scaling to max size) works best. When using vscale_mode=2 i'd expect a 1:2 scaling. One pixel on Atari SM124 ist 2x2 pixel on HD screen. Result should be 1280x800 pixel are used on HD screen. ?? The Atari monochrome screen on the Emulator HATARI looks great (when ist starts). Every ...

Monochrome Display on Full HD Screen

The monochrome screen gets upscaled for the HD screen, but this upscaling doesn‘t look very good.

I‘d like exact double height and width. So original 640x400 should be upscaled to 1280x800. That should look much better.

Or is there something in the setup menu that I missed?

great, I was looking forward to your statement about porting the Mega65. You are the administrator here, so I was almost sure that you already follow this thread. One question to you Alexey, how many manhours/mandays would you estimate it takes to do this port? I am sure you already had a look on the HDL sources on GitHub? Are there very big differ...

Re: Porting Mega65 to MiSTer?

No, I didn‘t know that. I started with MiSTer two or three months ago. Before I read about the Mega65 project and the extreme successful ‚Spectrum Next‘ kickstarter campaign. There are many people interested in the Mega65. The estimated price for the Mega65 is quite high (750€ or more). So I thought having the Mega65 on the MiSTer platform would be...

Re: Porting Mega65 to MiSTer?

Until now this is only an idea, nothing more. An I don‘t have the skills to port the Mega65 core to the MiSTer platform. Until now I have found out that the Mega65 main core developer (Paul Gardner-Stephen) also likes the idea. He is willing to give support for such a project. But he has no time to do this port on his own. And I want to find out, a...

thank you for explanation.

So I remembered right that there ist a file size limitation 4GB in FAT16/32.
But I didn‘t know that exFAT is used for MiSTer SD card.

Re: Fixed size and already partitioned VHDs here!

The max file size on a FAT/FAT32 formatted partition is 4GB, as far as I know.

So you should get problems copying a 8GB VHD to the MiSTer micro SD card.

Porting Mega65 to MiSTer?

Are members here interested in having a Mega65 core on the MiSTer platform? Is somebody interested in porting the Mega65 to the MiSTer platform? Alexey Melnikov (sorgelig)? For those who don‘t know what Mega65 is, look here www.Mega65.org The successor of the C64 was in development in 1989/90, but never finished. The Mega65 project is doing exactly...
