Re: Recommendations for low latency Saturn to USB adapter

The only issue I've had so far is that it defaults to setting the direction axis as hatswitches: you have to press A+Start each time you restart the MiSTer to switch it to a proper axis it can recognize. Apologies for reviving an old thread but I'm using the Mayflash adapter with my Virtua Stick and the stick controls aren't being recognized. In-g...

That’s really cool. I’m obsessive enough that now I’ll have to create the region-specific directories. 🙃

Are we sure the ROM linked by pezz is the samshoVPerfect ROM that's been released as part of the Sam sho collection? Now that you mention it, this may just be a hacked ROM to replace the 'Special' with 'Perfect' wherever it appears; at least according to this video linked in the Twitter thread. I don't know enough about Special vs Perfect to tell ...

Samurai Shodown V Perfect on MiSTer

Not sure if anyone on this forum has tried this yet but it seems like the ROM of Samurai Shodown V Perfect has been extracted and is playable on the MiSter NeoGeo core. Pezz82 tweeted about it.

I'm using the DarkSoft romset but MiSTer isn't reading able to load this ROM. Anyone know how to get this to work on MiSTer?

Re: Most efficient fan orientation

Blowing down on the heat sink may just circulate hot air inside, if the exhaust/inlet vents are too distant. On the other hand, blowing up would cause those vents to be inlets, and as long as the incoming air crosses the heatsink, this may be superior. This is exactly what I was thinking. I don't like the idea of blowing air onto the heatsink sinc...

Most Efficient Fan Orientation

Has anyone done research on whether a fan works more efficiently blowing onto the chip/heatsink or pulling hot air away? My theory is that a fan pulling hot air from heatsink would work most efficiently in a setup that has a case while a fan blowing onto the heatsink would work best for no case. Just wanted to see if anyone had collected data to su...

I suggest the mega cd 2 one because mega cd 1 bios seems to have problems with mister by not correctly detecting tray status if "reboot after inserting" is set to OFF. You're right. I think the Sega CD 1 BIOS has that problem too. I use a Region Free Sega CD Model 2 Bios as my Go to with the Japanese as Standby. (I like to use the Sega C...

What are the BIOS files that offer the widest compatibility for each region? (North American, PAL, and Japan market) I've seen several versions for each region.

Setting 'reset on insertion' to no on the OSD fixed it.

I can’t get Championship Soccer ‘94 to load on the Mega CD core. The BIOS screen is just blank. I’m using a REDUMP BIN/CUE file set.

Re: Audio Distortion

I’ve never had this issue with either of those cores. Is it possible your audio playback device has a dynamics/“loudness” compressor enabled? Those work by quickly detecting loud sounds and “smashing” them quieter, but there can be a slightly noticeable delay before it kicks in. That would certainly match your symptoms. Damn, you’re a genius and I...

Audio Distortion [Solved]

Hello, all Really excited MiSTer has its own forums! I’ve been having an issue with my MiSTer’s sound. Specifically, super loud audio for a fraction of a second when starting a ROM in the NEOGEO core. This also happens on the MegCD core so I don’t think it’s unique to NEOGEO core but I figured I’d start here first. For the NEOGEO, the loud audio on...
