Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

@Neocaron If this is no issue at all I ask myself why it was with the "steam link". Games were playable as long they weren t fast shooters that required quick reactions. And that s what mame and arcade games are all about, right? The "steam link" wasn t exactly my favourite way to play games, where is the difference to GroovyMi...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

Latency on a local network can be very very low, so I don't thinks its a problem. The data that goes back and forth is also very limited soI wouldn't worry about that too much, it's a nice feature for people who have a PC in a different room like me for exemple. I have my editing room which has my main PC and 2 CRTs and now with this I cast my PC t...

Re: N64 Core

I don't know what point you are trying to make, but you are so full of it. The N64 core is completely open source so why wouldn't it be finished? It's build for FPGA, it doesn't have an expiration date. The whole point of the FPGA community is that all the cores will be passed down generations and preserved forever with ease on the Mister or any ot...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

FPGA64 has been against this since its inception, and was pretty annoyed when it was merged into the kernel, but the reality of it, is that year long testing showed no risk whatoever, voltage is the same, temp are margin of error higher and if it's not stable it will just crash and you'll be back to stock. As long as you don't involve votage tweaki...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

Oh yes, I wouldn't use anything over a 1000mhz if you don't have a fan. Disclamer is in the script as well if I recall. With a fan the temp increase at 1.2ghz was around 1.5 degree on my setup after 2 hour. There is no voltage increase though so it's still very safe but I wouldn't recommand it without a fan. The expected gain in DosBox at 1.2ghz is...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

Oh yeah, I already know the ScummVM port exists, I have it installed too :D I was more just saying I’m unfamiliar with a lot of the point and click games since I haven’t played many (other than Myst and a bit of Full Throttle). Slightly Embarrassed Edit  : I get what you meant now. I kind of responded like they were asking about a potential...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

Agreed! I think it would be a great supplementary pack to have. I’ve also considered that maybe eventually I could do a ScummVM pack as well, but I’m not as familiar with point and click games so the interest isn’t super strong for me at the moment. Maybe after I get to a good place with DOS games :) I think they are referencing the fact that ther...

Re: Any interest in a MiSTer DOSBox pack?

Great idea! I'm all in for a packk like that! Especially since we have the ARM OC script that can make Dosbox run much much faster. I usually daily drive my ARM at 1.2ghz and the DDR3 OC at 1050mhz. It's great for anything Arm related, game loading, update all, ScumVM it's awesome.

Re: N64 Core Development Ends

Great news indeed, I did more test with the NTSC version and with a 1050mhz OC no crash after 2 hours of play on RE2. And I'm sure the PAL game are less latency sensitive in the first place because each frame has a higher frametime budget to render by the fact it's running at 25fps/50fps. The memory OC is really really safe so maybe it could be nic...

Re: PWM on 18-bit DAC to get 24-bit Color

It works great on a per core basis and it's transformative on Groovy, N64 and PSX core so you would think the feature should be part of the Mister framework, but since it doesn't stop the devs from integrating the feature anyway like Groovy did, it's not a terrible problem. Right, though does this mean there has to be a new PWM release for every m...

I ust wanted to throw out here that after some testing last night, I would recommand for people who experience crashes on RE2 and Conker to use the overclock DDR3 RAM script, yesterday I was wondering if I got lucky since I never had any crashes on RE2 while using the script in the past month. I'm very happy wth the core already and I think what have been done is quite spectacular! So it's a well deserved break for sure! I hope he'll release a turbo core along side, because it made a big difference in many games even back in december. Thank you Robert!

Re: MiSTerCast Released

4 cells created timing issues that can mostly be worked around on most cores, but I know the Saturn pretty much didn't work until recently with a 4 cells memory chip module. Antonio stopped usin 4 cells memory a couple of year ago at least, so depending on when you got your Mister from him, you might have gotten a regular memory chip.

This(!) is the reason I have Antonio Villena's product. I was not aware of the PWM version and it is very cool for those who need it.

Me too! I love Antonio's Mister, the only oversight was the 4 cells memory, but nothing 50$ couldn't fix. I'm definitely gonna try this.

Make sure to try PWM version of groovy_mister if you're using analogue io board VGA. Makes big difference on games and videos with a lot of gradients.

Re: MiSTerCast Released

it is, but for proper scaling I don't recommand full screen resolution, imo the best is to start a game 640x480 in windowed mode and stream that at 640x480 it looks much better than downscaling or running full screen. It will end up full screen on the crt and looking beautiful. :D I tried PCEM, Portal, Half Life 2 and even Star Citizen for the gigg...

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

I now have both a window 98 PC and windows xp retro PC, any possible way to send my entire windows screen to the groovy core to play my PC games on my CRTs?

I have 2 crts in my "work" room but no PC CRT sadly, so it would a cool thing to output everything at 480p on an actual CRT. I'm sure Max Payne 1 or Half Life would look amazing.

Re: Groovy_MiSTer Core

Would it be possible to use this with a retroPC setup to send the actuall windows XP signal to a CRT? I'm currently building a Windows XP PC and I would love to be able to send a 800/600 or 640/480 signal to my CRT. I'm building it off this video using a GTX 560 which seems to work very well for XP era gaming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlGsff...

But it's not for ANY screen, it's for CRT owners.
Plus, the Mister is limited by its own HDMI output, as it can barely do 1440p without Pixel Repetition, so it's never going to do 4k.

Signal could be sent to the retrotink at lower resolution. It would be a convenience I think. Maybe it already works even, I haven't tried yet.

So if I want to play on my TV or even just watch content, I can use my router to send the video signal to my TV in less than 4ms using the Mister, it's awesome! I actu...

Ok thanks for bringing up the reason, it still works since I've been testing it on multiple cores without issues. I guess it will remain a cool feature on the side. Image quality difference is so massively better that I think it's worth trying for anyone with a 4K TV.

Why rejecting a cool feature like this if it doesn't break anything? Thanks for your hardwork on this nonetheless, I'll definitely be using those, I love my CRT, but when I have people over my 4K tv is much more convenient, so thank you since this make the games look much much better!

Re: Forked cores with 4K horizontal resolution support

Interesting. So this allows geting 4K by letting the TV do the vertical scandoubling (technically quadrupling) This should work great for horizontal scrolling games, they often suffer from shimmering if they are not stretched properly. Small suggestion, could you change the name of the core in config string (e.g. NES4k) so that settings can be sav...
