Re: PC88 Core
Oh, I already found an .rbf from a zip file, so if that's the case, I don't need to open the .qar, then. I have a .mra and a .rbf, where do I put those, and are there any other files I need?

Re: PC88 Core
Does anyone have an easy-to-follow guide for setting up this core? I've looked for hours trying to figure out what to do and can't find all the steps I need to take. My biggest hurdle is trying to open these .qar files. This is the first time I've heard of the extension, and apparently I need this program called QlikView to open them. However, the ...

Anyone know of a cover for the USB bridge?
I just assembled my MiSTer aluminum case from MiSTer Addons and it's great. It's nice to know my MiSTer finally has a housing and its parts are gonna be safe... but there's still that USB bridge sticking out of the case. I know you pretty much have to try to break it, but it is a small, flimsy piece, and I'm curious if anyone has tried anything for...

Re: IO Board Buttons Don't Work
OK, I was able to get the buttons to work. Turns out they're completely functional, but very finicky about HOW you push them. A simple light press (even if you hear the button click) doesn't work, at least on mine. You have to press it hard enough and at a specific angle, otherwise it won't work. Alrighty then, now time to assemble my aluminum case.

Re: IO Board Buttons Don't Work
Ah, gotcha, OK, so the yellow light not turning on is normal, then. I'm really stumped with the IO board buttons, I know all the pins are connected when I connect the IO board. I checked the switches and they're all down, and the smaller white dip switches on the other side of the board are in the correct spots, as well (up, down, up, down, up, up)...

Re: IO Board Buttons Don't Work
I have an analog IO and I have all the switches in the same direction. Hmm, I wonder what could be the issue, then. Whenever I turn on my MiSTer, the red and green lights blink, and the yellow one doesn't light up. I don't know if that means anything.

IO Board Buttons Don't Work (turns out they were just finicky) [Solved]
I finally received a MiSTer case, but before I put my case together, I want to fix one problem I have, so I don't have to worry about opening the case later on. The reset, OSD, and user buttons on my IO board have never worked, and I don't see any info about what the cause of that could be. It isn't the hugest deal, but I would like to have a fully...

Turbo Button Mapping?
I was wondering if there is a way to map turbo buttons on the TG-16 core. I noticed there aren’t any options when I map the buttons to my controller. Is there possibly an edit in the .ini file to do, or is there a turbo feature possibly on the way? For some games on the TG-16, the turbo function is practically required, so I was wondering if there ...

How playable are games on Windows 95/98?
With this ao486 breakthrough from a couple months ago, I’m curious how playable games are on Windows 95 or 98. It seems like DOS stability still has a long way to go, as many games still won’t even boot, although most of the popular games seem to work great. Also, for anyone who has installed those OS’s on the core, which OS or which versions of th...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
So, I did the "ultimate test" and ran Space Quest III with it, and it sounded just like it's supposed to, so that's great! There were still some notes tripping, so I'll see if maybe that can be fixed by using a more stable connection. I imagine the communication would be quicker if I connected my MiSTer directly to my computer, so it does...

Different PC Speaker Settings Available?
So, there are a handful of older DOS games that just use PC Speaker for sound effects that I thought sounded wrong on the ao486 core, but it turns out some DOS computers produce this sound effect. For example, here is what I’m used to the first Commander Keen sounding like: https://youtu.be/iwHYy33bZFE And here is the sound I’m experiencing: https:...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
Whoops, after reading rhester72's comment, I realized I made a mistake when talking about the SC-55 ROM. I must've not been paying attention, because the ROM I was referring to was a CM32L ROM. I got all my Roland ROMS from a Google Drive Roland ROM pack, so I guess I just assumed the one that wasn't MT-32 was an SC-55. SC-55 ROMs are actually diff...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
I’ve only tested it out so far with Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon, since that’s the game I’m playing right now. That’s the only CD game I currently have installed. I have some of thosr VHD’s with tons of non-CD DOS games, organized by year, so I’ll want to test it out on some of those, too. Most of the games I’ve played on those VHD’s are older ...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
No worries, jrronimo, didn't take too long for me to figure the rest out. Yeah, I can use my microphone input on the front of my PC as a line-in, I just wanted to test it out there before I dig through the back of my PC to find the line-in input. I now have the aux jack hooked up to the line-in in the back, and it works just as well. Yeah, I've bee...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
OK, so after tinkering around, I discovered that MUNT will only output through the audio source that is auto-detected upon opening the program (not sure why that is). So, if I have my DAC that is connected to my PC on upon opening the program, it will always output through the DAC. Now, I just need to figure out how to use the line in to mix the re...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
Ah, thanks for that advice. I switched to an MT-32 ROM I have and it sounds MUCH better. I still like the SC-55 sound for this game, so I'll keep it for now. The last thing I need to figure out now, is how to be able to play voice clips and music from the same source when using MUNT this way.

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
Also, the SC-55 ROM I'm using for MUNT actually doesn't sound as good as the SC-55 soundfont I've used for the built-in FluidSynth. Maybe I should try the MT-32 ROMS I have with MUNT on some other games.

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
OK, so, progress, sort of. I was able to get the sound to work, but only with my normal computer speaker audio, oddly enough can't get it to output sound on my DAC. So, with this setup, are you supposed to listen to the sound on your computer, is there no way of making the sound come out on the MiSTer? So far, I can't play this game with this setup...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
OK, progress! The applications on my PC are showing there's a connection. I'm seeing packets received on UDPMIDI, and MUNT is showing the instruments playing. No sound is coming out through my MiSTer yet, but progress! Now, I just need to figure out how to make the sound come out. Maybe I have to mess with the output/input settings? I also got my a...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
I am also noticing that the UDPMIDI is saying Packets Received: 0, so that seems to confirm that they're not connecting. My aux jack should be ready for me to pick up from my local Staples in a half hour or so, so I guess I'll see if adding that to the mix makes a difference. I also changed my network to private, I guess it had been public all this...

I checked the firewall settings and it says UDPMIDI is already allowed. I also checked my PC's IP address and it's the same as my router's except for the last 3 digits. I guess I'll try connecting again. Maybe I have to run audio through my PC as well for it to work.

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
OK, thanks for helping with the guides! I'll try that out. For the audio, I have an I/O board on my MiSTer, so from your description of your setup, I guess that means I can easily run audio through my computer by using a simple aux jack from the audio out on the MiSTer to the line in on my PC.

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
Also, I tried doing the setup, and I was successful until I got to the Putty part. Even after running the scripts on my MiSTer to enable SSH and disable the firewall, I couldn't get to my MiSTer's files through Putty, it kept telling me that the file and directory doesn't exist. I then just added my router's IP address by connecting the SD card to ...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
So, after playing Under a Killing Moon for a while with the SC-55 soundfont on the built-in Fluidsynth, it sounds way better than the Sound Blaster soundtrack, and it’s consistent, with no hanging notes. By the way, speaking of MUNT, I know the Raspberry Pi is a popular way to connect MUNT to the MiSTer via remote, but is there a way to do that by ...

Re: Emulation available for Roland MT-32 or other more advanced sound cards?
I just shelled a bunch out on making my MiSTer with all the fancy add-ons, so I'm probably not ready to shell out some more on an RPi4 just yet, but that's a setup I assume will be more reliable, and I'll probably wind up getting it not too long from now. For the meantime, I'll see how this soundfont works. I know there are some DOS games that were...
