Outputing video to 2 displays
Lets talk about 2 display systems where the 2 screens have differant data going to them. I am talking about the Nintendo VS. System or Tysons Punch-Out. Since we already run super-resolutions to enable 240p over the hdmi port into a hdmi-rgb convertor , it should be doable to use a 1x2 video wall processor in between to split the hdmi super-resolut...

Re: "Computer Space" rom on 31khz monitor, custom video mode/scaler settings needed.
I was able to get it working by moving to an analog video card instead of trying to do it over direct video with a DAC. I was then able to apply the proper video mode which needed to have the front porch timings changed to sync properly. This was done for a stand alone ComputerSpace machine and I didn't write down the timings but I can get them aga...

1920x1920 1:1 Monitors
I love running CRT monitors for my Mister but I have been asked to find out about alternatives using the 1920x1920 1:1 LCD panels that are out there now. These displays are 24"x24" or 16"x16" approx. and would fit well in many arcade cabinets, they would also allow for rotation of cores without rotating the display itself. Since...

What did you edit in your .ini file to load an Arcade core on start-up? I can get anything but an Arcade core to load on start-up

"Computer Space" rom on 31khz monitor, custom video mode/scaler settings needed.
This rom doesn't have a scan doubler setting in the menu and I have tried "forced_scandoubler=1" which allows me to play most other 15khz games just fine. Is there a custom video mode that will allow this game to play on my 31khz monitor? Right now it displays mostly correct but the horizontal is shifted until the edges of the screen meet...

Would it be better to run an SPI connection through the LTC or Bit bang it?
I know it seems obvious to just program the SPI port to be used as an SPI port but I don't know which system can afford the bandwidth to run a Vector monitor over SPI. If it matters I have the digital I/O board and I am using an Hdmi DAC running on arcade monitors for video right now. I am pretty sure the SPI protocol could be bit banged out over t...

Re: CRT with HDMI, Component, and S-Video - which is best?
HDMI going into a CRT tv will be scaled/processed in some way as you will be going from a digital signal to an analog signal internally for it to be sent to the CRT's analog guns. That will introduce lag and most likely artifacts in the displayed image. All that being said maybe it looks the "best" on your tv and the lag is low enough to ...

Re: Would it be better to run an SPI connection through the LTC or Bit bang it?
Some people run their arcade cores through arcade monitors, I am wanting to add support for Vector monitors.
That being said maybe an OP could move this question to the Hardware section?

Re: Would it be better to run an SPI connection through the LTC or Bit bang it?
Analog has a 16 channel SPI DAC project board that plugs into the LTC port of the DE-10. https://www.analog.com/en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/dc2025a-a.html 16 channels @ 12bit or 16bit depth. Its $100 and could conceivably give you 16 channel control to 4 or more devices. Monitor 1 = X/Y/Z for Color Vecto...

Re: Would it be better to run an SPI connection through the LTC or Bit bang it?
As another thought it could be sent over SPIDF/Coaxial audio much like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRmgAqyIweU Oscilloscope Music. There is more than enough bandwidth and honestly a Vector monitor is basically fed from an audio amp anyway....

How to get Arcade cores to auto-boot after power cycle.
I am trying to get my Mister to play either the Arcade title I tell it to in the .ini file or at least load the last one played. This feature works rather well for console games (It would be even better if you could not only autoload the core but the ROM also.) but I haven't been able to get it working for Arcade titles. It even works for MemTest? ...

I can get a nice platform floor style usb controller for it and think it would make a cool gift for her.
