Re: 128MB v2.5 Very Strange Problem

The only part that really makes no sense to me is that one of the chips apparently is ok on the dual board its always the one in the bottom position on the memtest, I've no idea which chip that is on the board. If you press 'c' you can choose which chip to test. I suppose there are some good chips in China as you can buy working sdram boards from s...

128MB v2.5 Very Strange Problem

I had some v2.5 pcbs left over from when 64mb with 2x32 was a thing. When I saw some 64mb chips on aliexpress for $5 I decided to try to put them on the pcbs. The weirdest thing happens one chip tests ok at 140 and the other only at 80 so its pretty useless, I resoldered the chips in the other positions and I get the same results even though the ch...

Re: Running MiSTer on 12 Volts?

de10-nano has overvoltage protection so it should be ok, if it didn't get blown out. The usb hub gets 5v directly from power connector and bypasses the protection, so the hub gets blown out and anything connected to it, I labelled the connectors after this happened so I would never make this mistake again, it's pretty scary.

Do you have a description where the chips are installed on the board?
Thanks for your help
Sorry its so late I missed your post. You can search for de10 nano schematic, you will find a very nice one and use it to identify the chips if you blew one, the test points make it super easy to check the voltages if this is your problem.

Re: Fail Memory

I think I have the same aliexpress memory, I got one chip to look like it works in the test but any cores that use it have errors. When I had 2 modules installed the memory test was ok for one chip and errors for the other, you can press C to change chips. When I use the chip which tests good by itself, even on single module board errors return. I ...

Re: My Mistakes with MiSTer

( I put yellow heat shrink on the conecctors so this wont happen again) As in mark the line (if yes what line?) or so it can not be plugged in again? If it is marking then the standard atx colors is yellow for 12v and red for 5v, so probably is a good idé to follow those. I put some yellow heatshrink around the end of the connector so when I have ...

Re: My Mistakes with MiSTer

If I was a newb it wouldn't be that bad but I have had the mister for a while now (2+years), I should know better but decided to do some late night tinkering. I can't see without glasses but put the memory module anyway, Being careful is super important especially with Mister, I will be super careful from now on. I dont know if it's related but bef...

My Mistakes with MiSTer

I just want to share my experiences with my mister. I'm very happy with it, but I've also done some crazy stuff. 1 I connected to 12v. I had to repair the overvoltage circuit and replace the 2.5v chip, Now it's working ok again. ( I put yellow heat shrink on the conecctors so this wont happen again) 2 I connected sdram wrong way round. This burnt o...

Re: Running MiSTer on 12 Volts?

Hi guys, I tried this experiment by accident. It didn't end well. the ao3412(part of the over-voltage protection) and LTC3612EUDC for the 2.5v rail are both fried. I ordered some replacements and will have lots of fun soldering them, I have been practicing desoldering and replacing the cp2012 on some usb to serial boards. it has the same .5mm pitch...
