Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

Yeah, unfortunately it shows me a "no connection/entering power save mode" message and turns off, but doesn't respond to any of the buttons. Thank you for the assistance though, I'll keep messing with it! Were you ever able to figure this out? I did the same thing: I was trying to get HDR going, so I turned HDR to ON in the OSD, but now ...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄

Here’s a weird issue: I got mine in a few days, but it only works when I have the 12v DC AND micro USB plugged in. If I only do the 12v DC, it says No Input, and if I only do USB, the screen flickers on for a brief second and then turns off back and forth. Even weirder, I tried just USB with different power sources and get different results. When I...

Re: Spinner/Paddle not showing up as mouse on SNES core?

I don’t have a solution but the same problem: I got the same spinner a couple weeks ago to play Cameltry on the SNES and am also having trouble. The Japanese ROM doesn’t respond at all, and the US ROM (“On the Ball”) treats the mouse buttons as if they’re controller buttons while the spinner does nothing. I tried a regular mouse and it played norma...

Re: Celebrating the MiSTer on YouTube

Cameltry/On the Ball was new to me last week, and the SNES port especially has neat music. It pops up on best-of puzzle games lists, but I hadn’t heard of it and had a great time with it. I’d love an arcade core for it.

Re: Shining Force II Crash

Thanks for the tip, but I eventually got it! It was CPU Turbo. I’d completely forgotten to even try turning it off, but it doesn’t run with it on. Should have checked earlier!

Shining Force II Crash

I’m having a problem where SFII crashes at the same point every time. I’ve tried several ROM dumps (including verified good dumps and a prototype), I replayed to that point on a new .sav, and waiting/screwing with in game values in case of checksum badness, but it still crashes. Here’s a quick clip: https://youtu.be/zsvccju6S10. Any ideas?

Re: Show Us Your MiSTers

You’re the best! Thanks so much for the control diagram; it makes perfect sense. For your volume control: it isn’t buttons, but what about just a stereo 10k audio pot? You have me thinking I don’t need my extra amp, and that’s what I’m planning on doing. I know normally your volume pot comes pre-power amp, but it’s such low wattage that I doubt it ...

Re: Show Us Your MiSTers

nice setup! Very cute! what kind of PSU are you using? It looks like that black box up top is a step up or step down converter? I have an iPad screen I'm building and a MiSTer I've finished, and I'm using a 12v 60w power supply to power the screen (12v x 2-3a = 24-36w), and it also goes to a 12v -> 5v 5a step down converter that powers the MiSTer ...

MegaCD backup ram save format

Does the MegaCD core use the same save format as any popular emulators? I have some old brm and frm files I’d like to use from Gens. Kega can convert them to its format, but any ideas for getting them onto MiSTer?

Re: Possibility of doubling audio channels?

Got it! That’s what I was wondering: was it an easier thing like turning up sprite limits, or would it require a per-game solution. Thanks!

Possibility of doubling audio channels?

Totally theoretical question: could audio channels be doubled to remove ducking during sound effects the way sprites can be set to unlimited? Sound effects often make one channel of music drop out for the duration of the effect, but I was hoping maybe each audio channel could be doubled or something to make sound effects play over all other tracks,...

Re: iPad 3/4 Display with Integer Scaling Effects

I have one (digital multimeter), but I’m not positive how to test it. I figure it’s probably pretty easy since they’re just tact switches. I have some small momentary switches, too. Could I wire those up one at a time, connecting each pin to ground? For example, use the pin I believe is for the Power Button and wire it first to my switch then to gr...

Re: iPad 3/4 Display with Integer Scaling Effects

Does anyone happen to have a schematic or pinout for the little eight wire remote control? I have a decent idea of which button is which, but I don’t know if they go to 5v or ground, nor which of the extra two wire is ground.

I've always liked that SNES Sim City one, but I wanted it zoomed out, so I doubled the resolution and copy-pasted the buildings. Definitely not great at image editing, so someone should do it better!

Is there a way to check the temp of the DE-10? I have a basic heat sink and Noctua, but how big of a problem is heat? I have my board in a smallish case, and I was wondering how worried I should be.

Re: Hardware Buttons without IO Boards

Thanks for that schematic!

It looks like the LEDs come off 1, 3, and 5, but is anyone able to confirm if the LEDs on the DE-10 are on or off with the IO board attached? My thought is I could wire lower wattage LEDs to the 1, 3, and 5 pins in order to turn off the DE-10 LEDs.

Re: Hardware Buttons without IO Boards

Thanks so much! The only place I’ve seen User used is dirtying the define joystick procedure to skip a button. While I love the idea of it being 100% self-contained, I’d always still need something to navigate the menu with, so I think I’ll just keep it with no buttons and use a keyboard if I ever need to. Do you happen to know if you can turn off ...

Hardware Buttons without IO Boards

How would I go about hooking up mini momentary push buttons to act as the User/OSD/Reset buttons? I think they’re on pins 13, 15, and 17, and then they all go to ground? Additionally, how useful are these buttons in reality. Reset seems redundant to being able to reset from the OSD or just hard cycling. What does User do? Is there a way to actually...
