Re: Neo Geo core considered "console" not "arcade"?

Thanks. I haven't looked into the differences between romsets.xml and .mra files, but it seemed to me that at least superficially they have the same purpose. Why is there a romsets.xml for one core, when .mra files seem to serve the same purpose? I was curious if there were technical reasons why .mra files wouldn't be sufficient for the neo geo cor...

Re: Direct Video Output

In general, my expectation is that direct video would provide the same (presumably native) resolution and refresh rate as the analog output on the I/O board. If they differ, and particularly in cases such as this where the native resolution is supported by my display, but the resolution of the direct video output is not, is this considered a bug? S...

Re: USB attached disk is sporadically unmounted

Thanks! Glad to hear that it isn't just me. It hasn't been a huge issue, but I'll play around with it to see if I can work out a more stable connection.

Re: Direct Video Output

Yes, the 20L5 is multiformat, and can handle a variety of signals with a horizontal frequency between 15 and 45 kHz.

Re: USB attached disk is sporadically unmounted

Thanks for your response. I have it attached to a blisster v2, which I have powered via a 2.4 amp power supply. I've tried connecting the blisster to a separate power supply than the rest of the MiSTer (since there is normally a small cable to connect the MiSTer to the blisster, and it still exhibits this issue.

USB attached disk is sporadically unmounted

I have a Samsung 860 QVO SSD in a QGeeM USB enclosure formatted as exfat, and when connected to my MiSTer, it will mount, and then a short time later will unmount, and then repeat the process. If I look at the kernel log, I see repeated entries like the following: [ 852.080563] usb 1-1.2: new high-speed USB device number 34 using dwc2 [ 852.174422]...

Re: Neo Geo core considered "console" not "arcade"?

Thanks for the replies. I guess I am confused, I thought the Neo Geo roms it uses are the same names/format used by name?

I understand that MiSTer can be reconfigured however one likes, I was more curious as to the why it is the way it is, rather than whether it is possible to do otherwise.

Direct Video Output

I'm using my MiSTer with a Sony PVM 20L5, and this core does not seem to work correctly (i.e., my display does not handle it) when used via direct video (the output from the IO board works fine). The direct video mode seems to be using some super resolution mode, with a higher horizontal resolution than the original. Is there a reason that direct v...

Re: Wi-Fi not starting reliably

@Thad yes, I think that matches my experience as well. I wonder if it is the same issue as viewtopic.php?f=32&t=620

Neo Geo core considered "console" not "arcade"?

Is there any particular reason why the neo geo core is categorized as a "console" instead of "arcade"? I realize that it could go either way with the AES being a console, and the MVS being an arcade platform, but it seems like the core shares more in common with other arcade cores, using mame/hbmame ROMs? Are there any mra files...

Re: Wi-Fi not starting reliably

That's been my experience with wifi also, but I also have it connected via ethernet so I haven't bothered investigating further.

Re: Terasic released a smaller and modular DE-10 Nano

This could be a great for a MiSTer handheld, something along the lines of the Circuit Sword.
