Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I tested some games with issues and the small audio cracking when a track starts is still present but it seems better then before. This was fixed with a MiSTer unstable release some days/weeks ago. Most recent sound issue is distortion in some games (mostly sfx). Introduced since the volume increase fix some core releases ago. Nice to know, didn't...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

Just tested the latest unstable release (20240324) and it was the first for me where the DualSDRAM version was working again. I tested some games with issues and the small audio cracking when a track starts is still present but it seems better then before. To my surprise I saw that the Z-buffer issue in Panzer Dragoon Saga is fixed! I didn't expect...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I am having problems with the DualSDRAM versions from 20240315 and 20240318. Whenever I launch them I just get thrown back to the MiSTer main menu. Older DualSDRAM versions look fine and the singleRAM version von 20240315 also works.

Repo was made public a few hours ago: https://github.com/ElectronAsh/DC_MiSTer And anyone should be made aware of 2 points: This is NOT, I repeat NOT anywhere close to a full "core" right now. This is just some tests for the low-level part of the PowerVR2 renderer, but also done as a learning experience. At the start of this process, I d...

At the point you are running a diferent CPU on the Cart its not really a game for that system anymore. Depends on your definition. The Super FX chip in Super NES cartridges was a 16- Bit RISC processor running at 21 MHz that made the SNES render 3D polygons. This chip was running cycles around the 65C816 8 Bit CPU that was clocked at 3.58MHz max (...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600

Thank you for the info Chris. I had no idea their were games you can play on the 2600 today that cant be played on MiSTer. Will the core ever be abe to play these games? Or is it just that the MiSTer is not compatible with the hardware in these games? cheers The board Galagon uses has an extra ARM CPU on board. I doubt this will be implemented. As...

Re: Atari 7800 / 2600

Hi guys, just getting into this great core for this 1st time, has anybody managed to get the homebrew game Galagon to work for the 2600 in the core? Any reason why this wont work on the core but works on the actual hardware? Thanx :) Galagon uses the Melody Board, the cartridge has extra hardware on board that enhance the possibilities of the 2600...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

Not fully fixed for me, but much improved. I still get some cracking whenever the sound is inititalised (e.g. after loading). It's very short, but audible (only tried DualSDRAM now). I was referring to the menu sounds...never heard it on load, but wasn't listening for it, either. Yes in the menu it is fixed for me too. Not sure if the small audibl...

So i have an N64 USB pad that i bought ages ago Im not sure on the manufacture as theres no marking just says 'Made in China' on the top of the pad. The pad works fine in Windows but with the MiSTer it doesn't detect any movement when moving the analog stick up and down!. Any ideas why this happens? Make sure you didn't map the analog stick in the...

Thanks. So, if I were to purchase a usb-midi Interface, like a Roland UM-1, would the ST core with Cubase be able to use it for input and the MT-32pi for output?

Yes, this would work. I use a OTraki Midi USB converter for this, it works in the same way as the Roland UM-1.

Re: Old-school music production with MT-32pi and Cubase

Hi all, I just got an MT-32pi, and it is finally set up and working well. It was a bit of a process, thanks to a defective SD-Card, voltage-draining power switch, and some gain-staging issues. The MT-32pi is connected to my IO board via the user port, and I have the standard MiSTer MT-32pi hat. Anyway, I have it working with the ST core, and with ...

I got a KS2 sdcard. Made an image of it and it works perfectly with the MiSTer core. Firmware 1.44, Nextos 2.08. Only Core 3.02 would be cool as games like Atic Atac and certainly future games not working

As far as I know all SD cards contain the necessary cores for both FPGA models.

Just tried Exhumed on the 20240222 nightly and sadly it's not fixed in the DualRam or the SingleRam core.

Very interesting - confirmed. That means whatever is causing that click is something different.

Cool game, too. =)

Very cool game, discovered it recently myself because of a YT video about the Saturn core.

Re: Spectrum Next Games?

First it was very promising as latest firmware was on it - but the games that are delivered with that new batch do not work flawlessly on the MiSTer core as it obviously checks it’s a real Spectrum Next and the MiSTer core doesn’t pass that test and the games doesn’t work. What? The creators of the Next have encouraged folks to spin off and port t...

Re: Spectrum Next Games?

Yes, playing the games that come as an extra for the batch 2 buyers results in a message after some minutes that these games are only for batch 2 buyers and if you want to continue to play it you have to buy them. So there must be some kind of hardware check on the Spectrum Next that allows these games to verify the computer they are running on. T...

This thread started nearly 4 years ago, why bump it up ?
4 years ago, the Amiga core wasn't as good as it is today, so it might have had slowdowns in 2020.

The core wasn't affected by slowdowns back then either. The Minimig was able to simulate an A500 by around 2008 and the current core is derived from this project.

Any news to this core for MiSTer? Looking at the video above your post it seems there is nothing to do, the current core already supports the Videopac+ G7400 games. Seeing the menu, it seems that this is for the Mist and not (yet) for the Mister unfortunately. Ah, my bad. You are right. So familiar with both machines that I didn't realise it.
