Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?

It's hard to get it to never miss a jump (I press and he doesn't jump), and in Mame it is easier to never miss, at least in my limited testing. That is interesting because I experienced the opposite. Easier to jump in the core than in Mame. It could be related to controller lag because I used a different controller for Mame. After a lot of practic...

Re: "rolling screen" when starting a core : long-term harm for CRT ?

You are getting a rolling screen because your TV needs composite sync. When a core starts it is outputting H/V sync by default until the MiSTer Main software tells the core to output composite sync which takes a short while. This means your TV is not receiving a Vsync signal during that time so it will generate its own Vsync and this results in the...

Re: Donkey Kong: Walking Sound Hack?

I haven’t tried the latest core, but I can do those jumps easily on my real machine, but struggle to pull them off on MiSTer. Can you do those jumps on Mame as well? I have tried to do it many times with an invincibility cheat both on Mame and MiSTer but couldn't get it once. Maybe it only works with a specific rom revision? Edit: Ok I was able to...

I have worked on Furrtek's core and fixed most issues: Shadows are visible. DIP switches working (Difficulty) Fixed MIA flipped tiles Fixed missing parts of some sprites Add Video options & Pause (Y/C, Gamma, Scandoubler, Crop, Integer scale) Add CRT H/V Adjust The discoloration on CRT can be fixed by adjusting the image to the right. Try to remove the yc.txt file. Otherwise it will override the PAL60 setting.

Re: Neo Geo CD Core

Not sure if it's a standard issue with CHDs (first time I've attempted to use them), but they seemingly take a very long time to load for each Neo Geo CD The Top-loader System rom does not support the higher speeds properly and will load very slowly if you set it too high. It is best to use the cd version of the Unibios which is a modified CDZ rom...

No, a real SNES looks like the tweaked one. If your SNES looks like the stock core then you have a modified PAL SNES that is running at 60Hz.

I get a rolling image of the menu that is in triplicate.

Triplicate means your PVM is receiving a 720p signal which is the MiSTer default output signal so Direct Video is not enabled.

Make sure the filename of the ini file that you changed is MiSTer.ini

Re: "Define joystick buttons" too sensitive for combos?

Oops late reply. If you don't have problems then you can leave it at the default. It should be increased if you still get multiple button presses. It doesn't add lag anyway and 10ms allows for 100 presses per second which is humanly impossible.

I uploaded some new fixes. Most of the games on the spreadsheet that said no sound should be fixed. Also Last Blade 2 and graphics issues in Pleasuregoal, Samurai Shodown 3 and World Heroes 2 are fixed.

Super Sidekicks 3 also says Raster desync but I couldn't reproduce the issue.

It looks like your TV is not in RGB mode. Connect the scart cable to scart input 1. Then press the input button until you see the icon with three dots.

What I'm wondering about is why the game-specific border doesn't show up, since it does in the SGB core. Because the game starts up in GBC mode when System is set to Auto and the Super GameBoy only supports GB games. As a work around you can load the game with System set to Gameboy, wait for the border to appear and then load the game with System ...

To enable VGA output including sync signals a specific pin needs to be grounded. It is specified as pin AH_27 VGA_EN in sys_analog.tcl https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Template_MiSTer/blob/10e2b6c963fb43134f34348e460b7ab4bb2099e7/sys/sys_analog.tcl#L43 The image here says that that pin is GPIO1 pin 10. https://www.rocketboards.org/foswiki/pub/Docume...

The SNES core had a similar issue with a Beavis and Butthead game which was caused by wrong behavior when adding/subtracting invalid numbers (non-decimal) in decimal mode. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/SNES_MiSTer/issues/261 The TurboGrafx core doesn't have that fix yet. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/SNES_MiSTer/blob/1dabb8e4a4b0966a62768b8c95f...

I am always open to new information but I am not sure what you are saying here. Limited range by definition has black starting at 7.5 IRE, so if you look at an oscilloscope you will see a pedestal that will show a black signal from the source starting at ~50mV. With a broadcast grade pattern generator set to limited range with RGB you will see a p...
