Re: Autosave

I understand the problem with SD cards but it's not the only way to save (I use a mounted NAS drive, so it's saving on my NAS, not on the SD card, which is awsome btw). For the risk of corruption, a solution could be to make a new .bak file evey time a save is completed, so if your main save file is corrupted, you delete it and rename the .bak file...

Autosave

I forgot to open the OSD to save my game again... Yeah, my bad, I know... but then I wondered, why do you have to manually open the OSD to save the ram in a save file in the first place? What's preventing continuous or a periodic autosave?

Thanks.

HDMI splitter not working

I'm trying to get my HDMI matrix splitter with 4 inputs / 2 outputs working with the MiSTer, but no luck so far. Here's a picture of my device: scrcpy-noconsole_2021-05-13_09-29-53.png It works perfectly with my PC and my Nintendo Switch but I can't get any signal from the MiSTer. I tried to set vsync_adjust=1 and vsync_adjust=2, 720p and 1080p, st...

Re: Scart vs VGA

I'm playing on both CRT TV and CRT VGA monitor. I like the nostalgic look of my consumer 240p CRT TV, but I have to say, I really love the extreme sharpness of the 480p scandoubler look on my CRT VGA monitor. I switch from one to another depending of my mood.

What "fb_terminal" does and should I care? [Solved]

When I run updates on my CRT I can't see what's going on and I'm asked to set "fb_terminal=0" in the mister.ini.
Can somebody explain what this framebuffer option does, appart form displaying the update on the CRT? Why is it not 0 by default? Should I care for cores?

Thanks.

Vertical crop x5 and forced_scandoubler

Is there any particular reason why you can't use vertical crop x5 when you set forced_scandoubler=1?
I play on a VGA CRT and I use the HDMI output for streaming so it's not very important, I can adjust the image in OBS, but I'm just curious.

That's pretty weird indeed... Have you tried to update the firmware of your M30?

Re: Button also registers as D-pad down

I use an M30, it works fine with the GBA core. I use D-Input mode with the MiSTer and the default D-Pad option. Maybe you should try? To switch to D-Input mode, unplug your M30 and make sure it's off, then press and hold Y+START, you should have only the first LED blinking. Then reconnect the controller to the MiSTer. To set the D-Pad to default, y...

Re: ao486 wish-list

+1 for native VGA output with the I/O board. It would be insane! It used to be working just fine until Sorgelig forced the core through VGA scaler. Well, I'm not very familiar with core programing, but I'm sure he has a good reason to force it off, maybe it was dangerous for the hardware or something? I don't know. Still, I hope we could get it ba...

Re: A couple of CRT/VGA questions

Hi, welcome :) - As it is mentioned in the wiki, the direct output mode uses HDMI adapter to pass a non standard signal so I'm not sure you can do that (I may be wrong, but I tested with mine, it doesn't work). - I'm not familiar with this specific cable, you can use any VGA to SCART adapter but some need the sync to be rewired (it's very easy, you...

Re: VGA CRT and brightness/contrast

The way you describe it looks like a color range mismatch. Did you find any option related to "color range" or "16-235" in your monitor options? Try messing with it if you find it. If you're using a HDMI to VGA converter, try different options for "hdmi_limited" in the Mister.ini file. Otherwise your best bet is to try...

Re: Audio pops between cores

Same for me when the sound comes from the mini jack connector of the I/O board. It's not uncommon for a device that turns on and off to pop like this, but I have to admin that it's pretty loud with the MiSTer.

Re: Gameboy Camera ROM Not Supported?

I see, that makes sense indeed. It may be easier to hack the ROM to run the non camera features I guess, but so far I didn't find any hack related stuff about that. Well, looking forward to a way in.

Thanks for your reply anyway!

Re: Adding more to the "forced_scandoubler" option

I have to say, the recent updates of the V-integer scaling made things more convenient for many cores and I really appreciate that kind of stuff. I didn't really bother using the vga_scaler with the Gameboy core, it's indeed work fine, but since I started to stream, I'm stuck using the small scandoubler because my capture card doesn't recognize any...

Adding more to the "forced_scandoubler" option

I play a lot on a CRT VGA monitor, I really like the sharpness of the image compared to a standard CRT TV. As you probably know, there are two ways to play on a CRT using the analog output in the mister.ini file: using either "forced_scandoubler=1" or "vga_scaler=1". I prefer the scandoubler option, I find it way more accurate b...

Gameboy Camera ROM Not Supported? [Solved]

I tried to load the Gameboy Camera ROM but I'm stuck with a blank screen. Is there any way to make it work? I tried with several bios (official GB, GBC, SGB) with no luck. My guess is that the camera is not detected and thus it won't boot, but I'm not sure. The point is that I'm really interested about the "DJ" software included in this g...
