Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

As suggested by some people here, I updated my v2.5 SDRAM for a v3.0 and now everything works as it should, considering the state of the core which is very good but not perfect yet. So if you have some issues that others don't have, it's probably an SDRAM compatibility issue.

I think you need at least version 2.5 of the 128mb RAM and preferably version 2.9.

2019 predates all those revisions of RAM.

Be aware that RAM v2.5 is still very glitchy at the moment.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

This build is working for me too! I must insist a bit too (it works better when I open and close the MiSTer menu when the game is launching for some reason). The sound is not working (only a few seconds and then nothing) but I can finally try this core! I tested NiGHTS, Sega Rally, Sonic R, Burning Rangers, all playable! So I really had a RAM issue...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I just did a fresh install with MiSTer Fusion on a new SD card, same problem with the core. Well, maybe it's the SDRAM indeed, but I don't want to spend money for a new RAM module just for this beta core right now, so I'll wait for the release :/
Thanks anyway guys!

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

Yes I have the Redump version, I downloaded the last MiSTer unstable on Discord and put it manually on the SD fat folder. Yes I tried to put everything locally but same thing. Question, is it normal that there is no loading bar screen on this core? Just to be sure. PS: I just test the latest N64 core and it's working fine. Only the Saturn core give...

Maybe your SDRAM is damaged, did you try to test it with the SDRAM test software in utilities?

Yes, it's was stable for an hour at 143MHz, and every other released core work.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

Weird, I haven't hear that people with regular ram module were having issues. Maybe it's just a problem with your bios name like FPGA64 recommended be sure to do this: FPGA64: "Firstly make sure you have no boot.rom. If its even present the Core wont work, Its best to rename boot.rom to boot.bin When this is done the core will load, then go i...

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I'm using BIN/CUE yes, and my games are stored on a NAS, using CIFS on the MiSTer to access them.

My RAM has 2 cells (I think?) here's a photo:

Any idea?

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

I still can't launch any games on this core so far... I know it's still a nightly build, but I don't understand why I am not able to launch games that people can already play... I tested with serveral BIOS, followed many guides, the only game I can launch is Parodius with no music, and Burning Ranger but I'm stuck at file selection. I even tried to...

Try to update your mister.ini, in case you still have old one without "vga_mode=": https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/blob/master/MiSTer.ini That VGA2SCART adapter isn't necessary for Direct Video, only to be able use modelines with DV, so you should get display on most cores anyway. Could be you're really unlucky with both HDMI...

I meant no video signal, the adapter has no power input, it's passive, like the one you can see on the guide.

Direct Video, Help Needed

I followed this guide , but no matter what I try, I can't get any signal on any of my CRTs with any of my adapters so far, so I think I need some help to understand what I'm doing wrong. For context, I have 2 CRTs, one is a consumer 15Khz TV with RGB SCART and the other is a PC monitor with VGA. I'm using an analog board for now and everything work...

Same problem with my Dell AW3423DW, my guess is manufacturers don't expect such a niche resolution and it's simply not recognized by the monitor, which is a unfortunate.

Yeah, 1920x1440 is listed on the mister.ini file as a standard definition for the MiSTER now.

mr-box: I don't have any color mismatch between cores. I'm using a RGB SCART connector for my CRTs though.

Alienware QD-OLED (AW3423DW)

I've been lucky enough to get this amazing QD-OLED monitor before it solds out. Here's my thoughts if you plan to buy one and use the MiSTER with it: The image quality is stunning, and the color accuracy is spot on comparing with my CRTs. You can choose a true sRGB color profile and even change the gamma from 1.8 to 2.6. Sadly though, the 1920x1440...

Yeah, SNAC is not implemented for the GBA core.
You can use a link cable with the GB/GBC core with the GB Player for Game Cube though, which is really nice.

Re: 240p120hz PC VGA CRT

It's not really an artifact, it's just how high refresh rate works with low framerate. You have the same effect while playing 30 fps games on a 60Hz CRT. If you don't notice it, don't bother and enjoy it :)

I'm not a fan of 240p 120hz... It causes a ghost image while scrolling (very noticeable in Sonic games).

Re: Are PVMs still unique?

In any case, my advice is to try a PVM before you buy one. As everyone says, the image quality is stunning and it's probably the best you can have, yes, BUT it produces very sharp scanlines which I personaly don't like very much. Maybe you'll love it, maybe not, so try it anyway.

Re: saves folder on remote share not working

Tried to delete the "saves" folder itself on your SD card (it will be automaticaly recreated at bootup anyway), that way you'll know it will be cleaned. Then, check your cifs_mount script and make sure you have LOCAL_DIR="*" and SINGLE_CIFS_CONNECTION="true" (I think you must run cifs_unmount and cifs_mount again, but ...

Re: MiSTer power issues after connecting hard drive?

5V/2A is enough for the DE-10 nano alone, I think this is what Terrasic provides with the board, but if you add an USB switch, a IO board, a RAM module etc... then 2A is very short, your PSU may overheat and you will shorter its lifetime significantly (adding an external HDD may have damaged your PSU permanently I think) so it is recommanded to get...

Savestates on SD card doesn't work [Solved]

First of all, thanks a lot for this tool, it's really amazing! It works like a charm when used in RAM, but I can't get the savestate to files to work. When I create a new savestate, a new .ss file is created but it remains empty (0 KB), so if I turn of the MiSTer and come back later, I cant' load it. I tried on Castlevania and Zelda, no luck so far...

By default the cifs_mount.sh script mounts every folders (except linux and config), so you don't have to do any ajustment, you just have to move your folders in your sharded folders.

Yes of course! You can mount any folder except the special ones (such as "linux").
All you have to do is to move (not copy) every files in the "saves" folder from your SD card to your shared folder and it's done. Just check that the "saves" folder is empty on your SD card or it won't mount.

Oh I see what you mean! I assumed that when a file is corrupted it can't be read again, but if the core can still read it (incorrectly), that's an issue indeed :/
