DS4 Wireless - bad Re: DualSense
Mostly a very bad experience here w/DS4 wireless via MiSTer BT adaptor and via 8BitDo USB 2 BT adapter - Sometimes disconnects - I look down and the light is off (not a battery issue) - Sometimes bad/very bad lag, or lack of button response - Sometimes repeated input after a single press or input The problems were obvious when I tested via Oddworld...

https://www.youtube.com/c/NihongoGamer has reviewed many many sticks and button pads (direction keys instead of stick) in detail. For Pro's (and complete unrepentant forever-amateurs who just like one :) the Victrix Pro is a great one, wired only (removable USB-C -> USB A cable). Very large and pretty weighty aluminum. Re: Permanent changes in button/key remap for game
Same issue here - would be a great improvement to have remap be persistent after using Save on the settings. Not sure why it's not persistent currently, maybe difficult to implement or requires some unique id to recognize the game that isn't easy to do? (could be done based on hash of game file on disk or partial content in the game). Problems with...

Re: About the temperatures of this new PSX core
I would expect something like Ao486 which runs 90MHz to get MISTer hotter Believe FPGAzumSpass references that Ao486 maxes the capabilities of the MiSTer in this good RetroRGB interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5lAv7bFF1U If anything is going to cook eggs, Ao486 has the best shot but in reality probably runs similarly to other cores in te...

Re: 9.7" iPad Retina Screen Perfect for MiSTer, $60 Fully Assembled 😄
I discovered I don’t have the problem with the NES core. I guess it depends on the native refresh rate. What video_mode and vsync_adjust are you using? I get the popup with NES also, and all other Console cores, haven't tested PC cores. MiSTer.ini: video_mode=13 vsync_adjust=0 These settings work fine, haven't messed much with other values once th...

I'm using a https://www.8bitdo.com/N30-NS/ with https://www.8bitdo.com/wireless-usb-adapter-2/ Firmware: 6.14. I have no problems, other than having to turn controller off/on anytime hard rebooting or power cycling the MiSTer. I'm not going to update it to 6.16 in case there's an issue with that :). Too bad this one controller does not work with US...

Is there a way to hide the info box? I haven’t found anything in the settings. https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/wiki/Configuration-Files#video_info Set video_info to zero in the ini file. If this refers to the blue/white popup shown by the display interface board (Realtek), I haven't found any way to disable, and I checked in Factory Se...

Don't know could be your bluetooth dongle also. If you own one of these try repairing to it: https://www.8bitdo.com/wireless-usb-adapter-2/ https://www.8bitdo.com/usb-adapter-ps1-classic/ https://www.8bitdo.com/wireless-usb-adapter/ Also try the mister script bluetooth clear all pairings and re-pair. I'm interested to know your results. This is a fpga thing a lot of people don't cover or seem to care about - that fpga uses a LOT less power than emulation, so it's more environmentally friendly. Every little helps. (thanks to https://www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/Amp_to_Watt_Calculator.html) MiSTerAddons digital system w/ 2x 128 RAM modules ...

No problems here. I was doing some power usage measurements recently and saw maybe a small amount of higher power usage with the PSX core, but nothing significant (power usage ~ heat).

For the device pictured, if you can take digital coax audio from your PC to it, then you could take mini toslink or full size toslink optical from your MiSTer to the optical input. @ragnar thanks, some of those might work ok if they have HDMI inputs - many portable monitors are USB-only for PC use (Windows etc). The attraction of the iPad-style displays like the ones LaserBear uses is that they have the more square aspect ratio that let retro games fill the screen nicely, unlike the more common widescreen displays where you w...

Great tip thanks! I'll give that a try - I have few orange and grey 8BitDo BT adapters (random note - I applied the 2.01 firmware for the orange 8BitDo bricks to the grey 8BitDo bricks and it seems to work fine, YMMV). According to MisterAddons latency tests this controller has very similar latency with the BT CSR8510 adapter as with the 8BitDo bri...

Switch SNES req extra button press on boot/core start
The Nintendo Switch SNES bluetooth controller initially connects to the MiSTer in "unassigned mode" - all 5 rear controller lights are lit. It then requires a button press to cause it to become assigned as for ex. controller #1 (first light lights up instead of all 5). The controller is not usable until this first button press to cause an...

Thanks, I didn't confirm but do remember typing SHIFT before each key .
This was using this type of keyboard, https://www.tindie.com/products/robotar ... -keyboard/, the only one I have with me while traveling ATM.
I'll pay more attention to see what's going on next time I run into this.

WiFi script doesn't handle uppercase password
Used the WiFi script via UI. Selected a WiFI SSID, then entered password. WiFi did not come up. After looking at /media/fat/linux/wpa_supplicant.conf I noticed that the password I entered (for ex. CHEESE123) was stored lower case (cheese123). Believe this caused the wifi problem. Fixed by manually editing WiFi password in /media/fat/linux/wpa_suppl...

@bbond007 great suggestion, I hadn't come across that 1024x768 RPi display before. Would work great for lots of consoles. I'd have to try and see whether a 5x scale (5x160=800) for GBA would cause important content to get cut off, or run it at 4x for GBA. @FoxbatStargazer that iPad 3/4 display project sounds really interesting, wasn't aware of it u...

Small (5"-10") MiSTer Display Ideas?
In the past I've liked playing GameBoy Advance and other portable games on my Raspberry Pi (Retroarch) with official Raspberry Pi LCD display (7" 800 x 480) because the size of the display approximates the size of the original hardware displays and 480 is an integer scale for lots of consoles including the GameBoy Advance (160 vertical). I've ...

That totally makes sense on the OG wired controllers - it removes any possible paranoia real or imagined we all feel about latency. The only "kinda OG" wired controllers I have are NES Classic and SNES Classic wired controllers (circa 2019) with the Wii style connectors - ordered and should soon receive a couple of RaphNet's adaptors for ...

Re: 8BitDo M30 2.4g USB - need older firmware 3.07
@redsteakraw those are great options. The 8BitDo receivers definitely do weird things, sometimes repeating a control input until I power cycle the MiSTER once or twice and the receiver is finally recognized properly. And with some of the wireless 8BitDo receivers I have to turn the controller off and on again if I reboot or power cycle the MiSTer -...

@redsteakraw thanks for checking, really appreciate it. @bootsector thanks for uploading those. Believe they're for the Genesis OG port style receiver (v2.x firmware), and not the USB (aka Genesis mini) receiver that I have (v3.x firmware). 8BitDo sent me the 3.07 firmware. Removing hostname check from scripts?
A number of scripts check for the specific hostname "MiSTer" and will refuse to run if the hostname is not the default. Problem: some (many) people prefer to change the hostname for a number of good reasons. Such as multiple MiSTers on the same network - iss nice for the shell prompt to tell you which one you're connected to. Or custom sc...

Re: 8bitdo USB adapter gets stuck and registers no input after hard reboot
Exactly the same issues here with 8BitDo M30 2.4G, TGFX16 2.4G, etc. At boot sometimes some controller either does not respond, or sometimes if I press for ex. DOWN, the DOWN will repeat infinitely in the MiSTer UI even if I disconnect the controller adapter. The connection between the controller and the 8BitDo bluetooth adapter is solid, so that's...
