Well, finally took the plunge on one of these and I'm quite impressed with this screen. I thought it may have been too small, but once you load up a game it doesn't seem to matter. Packed well and arrived quickly. Really nice display, no defects i can see and perfect with an iPad stand. How are you guys powering this? The psu & barrel jack is ...

Re: MiSTerFPGA Y/C Out Module (Direct - S-Video / Composite Output) - Update

Got my adapter recently and I'm happy with it! Some cores are black and white but overall the level of support is pretty decent. Thanks to Mike i can make use of a little s-video crt i found before it was recycled.

Re: Rotating the display

Its true that different set-ups have different benefits, I don't miss using special graphics cards and hacked drivers and emulator with hacks to make this things work. Mister is so simple, CRT friendly straight out of the box and its only going to get better. Imo Mister is better on CRT since it offers 1:1 image out of the box with zero fuss in mo...

Re: Rotating the display

I use mister with a crt but its not the be all and end all. Using vertical games is a complete pain, and some cores don't work well with a crt, some have adjustments & options, some dont. Its not consistent and that can be frustrating. That's cos those cores are as close to the original arcade PCB's as possible. If the rotate option wasn't on ...

Btw, what crt do you use? I have a few, my 25" trinitron was ok but just too big and heavy for practical use. I found 20in is a nice size overall.

I'm leaning the other way, my mister hardly gets used. I'm setting up a sit down cabinet with a good pc & coinops. The large screen experience with the beautiful mame filters is hard to beat. Its nice to have both options.

Re: Push/Pull Spinner Success?

I have the ultimarc spinner and it works very well with coinops/mame. Never tried it with mister. There is a site which gives the right settings for mame, I also added some felt to the bottom of the spinner to make it feel like it was geared as the original machines were. That did make a huge difference to the feel overall.

Re: MiSTerFPGA Y/C Out Module (Direct - S-Video / Composite Output) - Update

Been looking into this now since i picked up a small crt monitor that only has s-video input. Do i need a special convertor? I tried a small adaptor from amazon that you plug the vga cable from the i/o board into, then use an svideo cable from that to the monitor. I made the changes to the ini but i dont get any picture at all, no menu etc nothing....

I've been using a dell sound bar for ages and have had no issue, apart from lack of bass on the speaker but it worked ok with mister. Not sure its the same version you have though.

Ever tried vector games on coinops etc? The way (mame?) it handles these games is really impressive. There are many tweaks to adjust the visual quality, even adding the flickering of a vector display.
