Re: Make Mega CD BIOS "Name Based" Rather Than "Location Based"?

Yeah, I mean there are ways to get around what I'm saying and what I'm saying is hardly what anybody would call essential, I don't even know if it's something that anybody else apart from me would really care about and as with any other changes to cores, it may just not be worth the hassle of implementing it anyway. One of the things that made me ...

Re: EMM386 parameters

I don't want more memory, I want to set a frame page, that many games do require. For example, One Must Fall 2097 will crash as soon as I pick a robot (but will play the demo combat fine). Getting ~600KB is usually enough. Dragon Lore for example requires 592KB free + mouse + CD-ROM, and I don't think I've ever played a game that requires more, al...

Re: CD-Rom support under DOS

It seems having more than 2 partitions causes a conflict with a CD driver loaded. I have a drive image with 4 partitions (C,D,E,F). With a driver loaded, I can access the drives, but if I try to change directory on E or F, I get "Invalid Directory". I haven't even loaded mscdex at this point.

Some games don't check for the BLASTER variable and default to IRQ7 (Simcity Classic...), so you have to manually set the addresses. Considering we don't have any sort of parallel port hardware in the core, I'm not sure why IRQ7 wasn't used as the default.

The new video seems to be less useful than the old video. I can't get my monitor to sync (it does support 70hz) at all now with variable vsync. Direct video to OSSC doesn't work at all. VGA to the OSSC has a lot of noise, although that was the case before. VGA to a 31Khz CRT is not working at all either.

Are there any settings or files that could break PPP mode? It doesn't work on ao486 or Minimig now. There are no MidiLink.INI settings which could break PPP as they are unrelated. Thanks for fast replies. But the question is: when i use Mister with keyrah, is that a "plug&play" system or i need to create a specific keyboard map file for it? And if i use Mister with TheC64-maxi keyboard? There is a line in the mister.ini file to enable Keyrah. No custom mapping is needed, but the line specifies something for Ke...

Re: Networking Under MS-DOS

Do you have the UART mode set to PPP? I also had it working with Uart Speed set to 30x, but it was unstable, so I also recommend setting it to Normal. I set it to PPP, saved it, and loaded the core fresh. I have the UART set to normal. I did try 30x, but it does the same thing. I even checked the midilink.ini for PPP settings and I didn't see any.

Spin down for power saving is generally built into the drive firmware these days. I've seen a couple help threads (not here) describe using the Linux utility 'hdparm' to disable the spin down function, although some reported it doesn't work on some drives. I'm pretty sure this program is not packaged with MiSter, so you would need a Linux computer ...

Re: Atari ST with SC55 how to mix the sounds back in?

I have a similar situation. I have solved it using optical audio from the I/O board and my gaming PC's line-in ports to mix the audio to my wireless headset. Essentially, you're going to need a mixer. Assuming you have an I/O board with the 3.5MM/optical audio port, you could run a cable from it and the SC-88 to the mixer, and output to a sound sys...

Did you use an existing image for the user disk? Did you create a new one? What kind of media type (2D/2DD/2HD) did you choose when newly created? In the era of PC-88, the mainstream is 2D, so I think there is no problem if you choose 2D unless otherwise specified. FDC is doing PIO transfer with sub CPU, but I think that it may not work because Z8...

Re: PC88 Core

All FDDs are written to SDRAM once and then delayed back to the image. If the red progress bar goes to the far right, the write back is complete, but if there is another write during the write back, the write back should be repeated again. From the FDC's point of view, writing to SDRAM is always performed normally whether it is writing back or not...

Re: sym-links on exFAT

The Nintendo Switch modding community largely dissuades the use of exFAT on the SD card because it's prone to corruption. My understanding of the reason for it is down to the driver implementation. I assume the driver being used for MiSTer is more robust.
