Re: Question about Ultimatemister's passive Y/C adapter

One bypasses the Luma trap and you want bypass it for svideo, the other is to use the onboard sync circuit. I would enabled both for composite and enable the sync circuit for svideo.

Don't use the sync on green on the analog io board, it's typically way out of spec.

Re: Black & White Menu Core on Composite with CRT

The problem exists if the menu is trying to use the scalar for whatever reason, if you make sure its off, you will have color in the menu core.

Things to check
vga_scaler=1

If using direct video and fb_terminal=1 (for some reason).

Re: MiSTerFPGA Y/C Out Module (Direct - S-Video / Composite Output) - Update

I'm getting black and white image for odyssey2 and Atari 7800 cores. No color, just black and white. Colecovision works fine but some homebrew games like Mappy only play black and white. I am using the latent update with SOG turned on. I'm using mister component cables plugged directly into my Commodore 1702 monitor. Any help is greatly appreciate...

The "CRT offset" commit doesn't appear in the unstable nightly repo, we'll have to wait a bit more.

Re: Sega Saturn Core in Development

Since the Saturn core was added to the main distribution, I noticed there was a commit on yesterday's build to fix the centering on CRTs: Add offsets for 224/240/256 lines Correct horizontal offsets for 320 / 352 pixel lengths Tested over the previous week (NTSC/PAL) Fixes Off center image Unfortunately I haven't noticed any difference as of yet, ...

Re: How to get a colour picture from NTSC cores on PAL monitor via composite cable?

For those interested in the topic I can confirm that trick suggested by @paulbnl can really resolve the issue. Thank you @paulbnl once again. Althought I didn't delete the yc.txt file completly, the suggestion this file may be causing the issue conviced me the values present in it are only good for NTSC wherever refresh rate is around 60, and for ...

Re: How to get a colour picture from NTSC cores on PAL monitor via composite cable?

I have the opposite problem. I'd like to use the Minimig (Amiga) core with an NTSC monitor using s-video but with 50hz. The monitor can display 50hz, but I get no color due to color signal encoding being PAL, I assume. I tried the approach above and changed the 50hz value to the 60hz value in the yc.txt file: MINIMIG_49.9=42949793920 Is now change...

Re: How to get a colour picture from NTSC cores on PAL monitor via composite cable?

If you set ntsc_mode to 1 or 2, the yc.txt file wont use any of the existing values because they would use a different string for the yc.txt. So you dont need to remove the yc.txt file if you're using those other two modes. For example, if you set NTSC_MODE to 1 and want to "tune" the core to reduce dot crawl for yc, you would have to add...

Note to everyone reading this. PSX Core does not support 15khz tvs and crts.

This is not true at all, it works fine, your settings are wrong.

Turn off FIXED VBLANK, or it might be something else. I've been playing the PSX core on my 1702 for months.

The aspect ratios were fixed on a lot of the arcades. What you're seeing is the correct AR now. Checking this specific game it should look more 1:1 not 4:3.

Qbert cubes too.

Try deleting your cfg file, I don't have any issues with rotation.

Re: Shadow Mask Support for Older Arcade Cores

Aspect Ratios will looks a bit different on many of the cores as they never did have the correct AR for HDMI out. Sega System 1 was a really good example of a core which had a lot of games which did not look like its arcade CRT equivalent. I typically would have used the test patterns if a core had them, or reference the CRT along side what I would...

Lynx is actually updated (You need to set it to 240p mode and then select the YC timing option), Intellivision is released as well, just waiting for the PR to be accepted. Kitrinx and Robert own the 7800 and PSX so it will depend on them to release the updated framework, but in the meantime you can still access the YC cores for the ones which have ...

I'm also having the same issue with that adapter where composite works but s-video does not. Antonio was very helpful in troubleshooting with me though, which is much appreciated! Hi Mike, I used Update All about 12 hours ago, and it removed most of the YCConsole cores and added links to empty folders. I noticed you posted something on Twitter about removing the cores from the repository because the main repo's cores have the new framework, but unless I'm missing something the main cores can't yet be switched to YC output.....

The sync out of the analog Io board is pretty weak, I'd use the external sync on your tv. I think it can use csync out of the hsync signal.

Here's attempting to change a standard genesis to look "better" or have timing that closer to the NTSC standard.

A real console has all the nasty artifacts so this is just an exercise :)

Re: HDMI to S-Video Question for CRT TV

Technically if your using s-video and the YC cores through the Analog IO board you get 24 bits color. Since chroma is modulated in the YC module you use all 8 bits for each RGB. But it's also s-video so I can't speak to how much you would be able to tell? If you see any HDMI to s-video adapters it's going to be prone to scaling errors and lag. You ...
