Re: Sync issues over Component video output?

Sounds like your sync level is too high for your CRT. Does it do this with any other input?

A bright white screen will be the highest the voltage will get so that's why it's probably going out of range but otherwise ok.

Another console or DVD or something that does the same would help to narrow it down to the MiSTer output or not.

Re: Neo Geo CD

I would rather see console arcade ports like megaPlay, CoJag or Nintendo Play Choice rather than obscure early CD systems with long load times and few exclusive games. If given the choice between a NeoGeo game or the CD version who really would want the CD version. Maybe if you are under the influence and are entertained by load screens you might ...

I don't think it exists because no one has raised a compelling argument for it over USB adapters.

There's enough user i/o for it.

Re: Phaser Light Gun

I am using a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 91TXM 21" computer monitor. I'm surprised the Zapper works on that monitor, though I think a Zapper works on a much more basic lightgun system. I would think the refresh rate is what is causing your issues. You will probably find your setup works just fine on a consumer TV. You might try limiting your refre...

Yeah I'd assume you can only use one of those at a time on any device. Have you tried them on a PC or something other than MiSTer?

Depends on the controller. Some may not be usable with 2 or more at a time as they might interrupt each other.

You can use any USB hub to connect multiple controllers.

What controllers are they?

Re: Problems connecting via VGA to a old-school CRT

SOG = Sync on green. You will want this turned off. Make sure you have composite sync enabled and scalers off in your mister.ini and more importantly, make sure the cable you are using has the correct pinout: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Hardware_MiSTer/blob/master/releases/iobrd_6.1.pdf Any old VGA to SCART will not work. I may work on a list then. It will likely require a fair bit of testing so may take a while.

If I can find the time, I will also add the exact memory vector to be used only for save for these games, if possible.

My bet is though that these exceptions will be in the vast minority.

My bet is an issue with your phaser. Think someone else had the same issue recently and turned out the cable in the gun was broken.

As far as I'm aware the requirements are no different to any other lightgun.

Re: Some arcade cores have strange screen issues with VGA/Analog board to CRT

As an aside to this, arcade pcbs usually have very different sync requirements to consumer electronics as arcade monitors don't have to worry about things like "broadcast safe area" and large porches to accommodate composite sync information (since usually, composite sync doesn't exist). Anyone who has used arcade pcbs with a supergun in ...

Re: Direct Video Output

I am using the IO 6.1 board with YPbPr to a Sony Wega and it is not working for me at all. Atari ST core for some reason outputs 31Khz so it won't work on your (and mine) consumer CRT TV. OP meant it's not working on CRT VGA monitors when used via Direct Video (but is ok via I/O). That's down to your set up. It works fine on both of my consumer TV...

Re: TMSS BIOS

The TMSS screen is not very nostalgic for me at all. It is very annoying. I purchased the Genesis on launch (non-TMSS) and in later years purchased a model 2 and was ticked that it had this stupid license screen...not to mention it blocked some EA games such as Budokan and Populous (and I think Zany Golf) from working. Nope, I don;t want to see it...

It was more directed toward the general populous and my rapidly declining patience with it, but since you are willing to explore this, let's do it. RE games which use SRAM as expansion RAM, which games are these? I'd wager it's limited to NES and other systems of this generation and since SRAM backup is handled per core maybe some exceptions can be...

Re: Autosave

I don't see why the current method is so hard to deal with. Save your game in the game itself, then press the menu button. Simple. In your suggestion of auto saving every 10 seconds, now when you save the game in the game you need to wait atleast 10 seconds in the worst case scenario for the save data to be backed up. Seems like a worse idea to me...

Re: Breakthrough for the ao486 core announced - Cache

Would a core really put a strain on power requirements? IIRC @Sorgelig said fpga usage doesn't affect temperature which tells me it also doesn't affect power consumption.

It sounds more like something is losing sync over time.

Re: SNAC Light Gun

Just a guess here, but have you tried the LLAPI versions of the cores? You'll find a setting for SNAC in there you'll want to turn on. Also, what version is your IO board? I believe that anything older than v6.1 can't do genesis stuff without a modification. The official release will work: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Genesis_MiSTer/commit/219f...

Re: Flash cartridges with original hardware are basically FPGA already?

This is nonsense. The cartridge supplying the ROM is an add on. The system itself isn't running on an FPGA is it? I'll not be commenting further on this, it gives me a headache knowing this isn't clear to some people. SD2SNES usues an FPGA to emulate cartridge expansion chips. MegaSD emulates the SegaCD hardware. Flashcarts do a lot more than just...

Re: Flash cartridges with original hardware are basically FPGA already?

No, it isn't. I'm not sure why are you mentioning software emulation when my post was clearly refering to a 1:1 cloned/replica chip. Now this is not subjective, it's a fact and not something you can argue about. ZX Uno or Ultimate 64 =/= C64 Reloaded or Just Speccy. These products are physically different and operate in completely different ways. ...
